Abstract

A method of disposing of a mixture of oxidizable catalyst material and inert support media. The method comprises introducing inert gas into an enclosure; introducing the mixture into the enclosure; separating the oxidizable catalyst material and the inert support media within the enclosure; maintaining an inert gas environment around the oxidizable catalyst material during separating; exporting the separated inert support media from the enclosure; and grinding the separated oxidizable catalyst material into a powder for disposal as hazardous waste via incineration.

Claims (20)

1. A method of disposing of a mixture of oxidizable catalyst material, grading material, and inert support media, the method comprising:

introducing inert gas into an enclosure;

introducing the mixture into the enclosure;

separating the oxidizable catalyst material and the inert support media within the enclosure;

separating the grading material from the inert support media;

maintaining an inert gas environment around the oxidizable catalyst material during separating;

exporting the separated inert support media from the enclosure;

grinding the separated oxidizable catalyst material into a powder for disposal as hazardous waste via incineration; and

exporting the grading material with the oxidizable catalyst material from the enclosure.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the grinding occurs in an inert gas environment.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein introducing the mixture into the enclosure includes removing the mixture from a refinement container and transferring the mixture to the enclosure via a conveyor.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the inert gas is nitrogen.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the separated oxidizable catalyst material is ground into a powder for suspension in a liquid fuel for a cement kiln.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the enclosure is movable and wherein the method further includes moving the enclosure to an industrial site.

7. A method of disposing of a mixture of oxidizable catalyst material, grading material, and inert support media, the method comprising:

introducing the mixture into an enclosure;

separating, within the enclosure, the oxidizable catalyst material and the grading material from the inert support media;

exporting the separated inert support media from the enclosure;

grinding the separated oxidizable catalyst material into a powder for incineration; and

exporting the oxidizable catalyst material and the grading material from the enclosure.
