Abstract

A system is provided for generating a live media segment asset. A first programming schedule that references one or more pre-encoded media assets and/or one or more live input streams is published. A request that comprises one or more identifiers is received. Based on the one or more identifiers in the received request, manifest data and indexed metadata associated with one or more media segments from at least an indexed media content is inserted to a live media segment asset manifest. The indexed media content comprises the one or more pre-encoded media assets and/or one or more live input streams. Accordingly, based on the insertion of the manifest data and indexed metadata associated with the one or more media segments stream from at least the indexed media content referenced in the first programming schedule, and one or more context parameters, the live media segment asset is generated.

Claims (85)

1. A system, comprising:

a memory for storing instructions; and

a processor configured to execute the instructions, and based on the instructions, the processor is further configured to:

publish a first programming schedule that references a pre-encoded media asset and/or a live input stream;

receive a request that comprises an identifier;

insert manifest data and indexed metadata associated with a media segment from an indexed media content to a live media segment asset manifest, based on the identifier in the received request,

wherein the indexed media content comprises the pre-encoded media asset and/or the live input stream; and

generate a live media segment asset based on the insertion of the manifest data and the indexed metadata associated with the media segment from the indexed media content referenced in the first programming schedule, and a context parameter,

wherein the indexed media content is referenced by the identifier for the generation of the live media segment asset.

2. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to process the manifest data to create the indexed metadata, and

wherein the indexed metadata defines programming content indicators and calculated durations, a programming content identification, non-programming content indicators and calculated durations, a non-programming content identification, and event markers.

3. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the manifest data corresponds to one or both of an encoded live input stream and the pre-encoded media asset that are indexed by the processor, and

wherein the manifest data defines an associated media content, programming indicators, timing metadata, media content identifiers, and contextual event identifiers.

4. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to generate the indexed media content based on indexing of the pre-encoded media asset and/or the live input stream referenced in the published first programming schedule, and

wherein the live input stream is indexed repeatedly at variable time intervals.

5. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to create a new index of the generated live media segment asset based on rules dictated by a repository of schedules, rights, and preferences database.

6. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to maintain the manifest data and the indexed metadata to encompass a time-range specified in the published first programming schedule.

7. The system according to claim 1 ,

wherein the identifier corresponds to a stream identifier and timing identifiers of a stream indicator,

wherein the stream identifier references a prior generated disparate live media output stream as indicated in the first programming schedule published by the processor,

wherein the timing identifiers of the stream indicator defined in the first programming schedule indicate the indexed media content in the first programming schedule associated with the stream identifier and a specified number of media segments and associated metadata generated previously, and

wherein the timing identifiers of the stream indicator are associated with a prior playout of the prior generated disparate live media output stream.

8. The system according to claim 7 , wherein the timing identifiers of the stream indicator are associated with the indexed media content that corresponds to a single programming content.

9. The system according to claim 7 , wherein the timing identifiers of the stream indicator are associated with the indexed media content that corresponds to multiple programming content.

10. The system according to claim 1 ,

wherein the identifier corresponds to a live media segment asset identifier and locations of media segment indicators,

wherein the live media segment asset identifier references the media segment and associated metadata of the indexed media content, and

wherein the locations of the media segment indicators are associated with each of the pre-encoded media asset and/or the live input stream that is to be included in the live media segment asset.

11. The system according to claim 10 , wherein the locations of the media segment indicators are associated with the indexed media content that correspond to a single programming content.

12. The system according to claim 10 , wherein the locations of the media segment indicators are associated with the indexed media content that correspond to multiple programming content.

13. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to generate a live media segment asset query to determine media segments and associated metadata of the indexed media content referenced in the first programming schedule.

The system according to claim 13 , wherein the processor is further configured to validate against a set of published programming schedules that the media segments and the associated metadata of the indexed media content referenced in the first programming schedule and associated with the live media segment asset query is eligible for a playout.

15. The system according to claim 14 , wherein the processor is further configured to generate an error notification when the media segments and the associated metadata, associated with the live media segment asset query, is ineligible for the playout.

16. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the context parameter corresponds to a user-defined input.

17. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the context parameter corresponds to context recognition in existing live media segment assets based on which a new live media segment asset is generated, and

wherein the new live media segment asset is further generated based on partial or total segments of the existing live media segment assets.

18. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the context parameter corresponds to a sequential series of prior defined live media segment assets based on which a new pre-encoded media asset is generated, and

wherein the new pre-encoded media asset corresponds to the generated live media segment asset.

19. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the context parameter corresponds to a pre-specified context that is defined as a scene, an action, a speech, or a highlight.

20. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to process and transcode the generated live media segment asset into a media format.

21. A method, comprising:

publishing, at a processor, a first programming schedule that references a pre-encoded media asset and/or a live input stream;

receiving, at the processor, a request that comprises an identifier;

inserting, at the processor, manifest data and indexed metadata associated with a media segment from an indexed media content to a live media segment asset manifest, based on the identifier in the received request,

wherein the indexed media content comprises the pre-encoded media asset and/or the live input stream; and

generating, at the processor, a live media segment asset based on the insertion of the manifest data and the indexed metadata associated with the media segment from the indexed media content referenced in the first programming schedule, and a context parameter,

wherein the indexed media content is referenced by the identifier for the generation of the live media segment asset.

22. The method according to claim 21 , further comprising processing, at the processor, the manifest data to create the indexed metadata, and

wherein the indexed metadata defines programming content indicators and calculated durations, a programming content identification, non-programming content indicators and calculated durations, a non-programming content identification, and event markers.

23. The method according to claim 21 , wherein the manifest data corresponds to one or both of an encoded live input stream and the pre-encoded media asset that are indexed by the processor, and

wherein the manifest data defines an associated media content, programming indicators, timing metadata, media content identifiers, and contextual event identifiers.

24. The method according to claim 21 , further comprising generating, at the processor, the indexed media content based on indexing of the pre-encoded media asset and/or the live input stream referenced in the published first programming schedule, and

wherein the live input stream is indexed repeatedly at variable time intervals.

25. The method according to claim 21 , further comprising creating, at the processor, a new index of the generated live media segment asset based on rules dictated by a repository of schedules, rights, and preferences database.

26. The method according to claim 21 , further comprising maintaining, at the processor, the manifest data and the indexed metadata to encompass a time-range specified in the published first programming schedule.

27. The method according to claim 21

wherein the identifier corresponds to a stream identifier and timing identifiers of a stream indicator,

wherein the stream identifier references a prior generated disparate live media output stream as indicated in the first programming schedule published by the processor,

wherein the timing identifiers of the stream indicator defined in the first programming schedule indicate the indexed media content in the first programming schedule associated with the stream identifier and a specified number of media segments and associated metadata generated previously, and

wherein the timing identifiers of the stream indicator are associated with a prior playout of the prior generated disparate live media output stream.

28. The method according to claim 27 , wherein the timing identifiers of the stream indicator are associated with the indexed media content that corresponds to a single programming content.

29. The method according to claim 27 , wherein the timing identifiers of the stream indicator are associated with the indexed media content that corresponds to multiple programming content.

30. The method according to claim 21 ,

wherein the identifier corresponds to a live media segment asset identifier and locations of media segment stream indicators,

wherein the live media segment asset identifier references the media segment and associated metadata of the indexed media content, and

wherein the locations of the media segment stream indicators are associated with each of the pre-encoded media asset and/or the live input stream that is to be included in the live media segment asset.

31. The method according to claim 30 , wherein the locations of the media segment stream indicators are associated with the indexed media content that correspond to a single programming content.

32. The method according to claim 30 , wherein the locations of the media segment stream indicators are associated with the indexed media content that correspond to multiple programming content.

33. The method according to claim 21 , further comprising generating, at the processor, a live media segment asset query to determine media segments and associated metadata of the indexed media content referenced in the first programming schedule.

34. The method according to claim 33 , further comprising validating, at the processor, against a set of published programming schedules that the media segments and the associated metadata of the indexed media content referenced in the first programming schedule and associated with the live media segment asset query is eligible for a playout.

35. The method according to claim 34 , further comprising generating, at the processor, an error notification when the media segments and the associated metadata, associated with the live media segment asset query, is ineligible for the playout.

36. The method according to claim 21 , wherein the context parameter corresponds to a user-defined input.

37. The method according to claim 21 , wherein the context parameter corresponds to context recognition in existing live media segment assets based on which a new live media segment asset is generated, and

wherein the new live media segment asset is further generated based on partial or total segments of the existing live media segment assets.

38. The method according to claim 21 , wherein the context parameter corresponds to a sequential series of prior defined live media segment assets based on which a new pre-encoded media asset is generated, and

wherein the new pre-encoded media asset corresponds to the generated live media segment asset.

39. The method according to claim 21 , wherein the context parameter corresponds to a pre-specified context that is defined as a scene, an action, a speech, or a highlight.

40. The method according to claim 21 , further comprising processing and transcoding, at the processor, the generated live media segment asset into a media format.

41. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon, computer implemented instruction that when executed by a processor in a computer, causes the computer to execute operations, the operations comprising:

publishing a first programming schedule that references a pre-encoded media asset and/or a live input stream;

receiving a request that comprises an identifier;

inserting manifest data and indexed metadata associated with a media segment from an indexed media content to a live media segment asset manifest, based on the identifier in the received request,

wherein the indexed media content comprises the pre-encoded media asset and/or the live input stream; and

generating a live media segment asset based on the insertion of the manifest data and the indexed metadata associated with the media segment from the indexed media content referenced in the first programming schedule, and a context parameter,

wherein the indexed media content is referenced by the identifier for the generation of the live media segment asset.
