Method and apparatus for providing recommendations to a user of a cloud computing service
A method and apparatus is disclosed for transferring digital content from a computing cloud to a computing device and generating recommendations for the user of the computing device.
1. An electronic device for sharing content, the electronic device comprising:
a storage configured to store contents of a user; and
at least one hardware processor configured to:
control to send, toward a server, a request for one of user-uploaded contents stored in a content store associated with a family of the user, the requested content not being stored in the storage, the content store being implemented in the server, and
control to download the requested content from the content store,
wherein at least one of the user-uploaded contents is uploaded by an electronic device of a different user of the family, and
wherein the content store is associated with a predetermined number of electronic devices authorized to access the content store, wherein the predetermined number is greater than one.
2. The electronic device of claim 1 , further comprising:
a display,
wherein the at least one hardware processor is further configured to control the display to present a list of contents including the contents stored in the storage of the electronic device and the user-uploaded contents stored in the content store and not stored in the storage of the electronic device.
3. The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the contents stored in the storage of the electronic device and the user-uploaded contents stored in the content store and not stored in the storage of the electronic device are both simultaneously presented in the list of contents and are presented differently in the list of contents.
4. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the contents comprise at least one of photo content and video content.
5. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein at least another one of the user-uploaded contents is uploaded by synchronization between the electronic device and the server.
6. The electronic device of claim 5 , wherein the synchronization between the electronic device and the server is determined to be performed based on a type of communication link connecting the electronic device to a network.
7. The electronic device of claim 5 , wherein the synchronization between the electronic device and the server is performed as a background operation.
8. A method of sharing content, the method comprising:
sending, from an electronic device of a user toward a server, a request for one of user-uploaded contents stored in a content store associated with a family of a user, the requested content not being stored in the electronic device, the content store being implemented in the server, and
downloading, by the electronic device, the requested content from the content store,
wherein at least one of the user-uploaded contents is uploaded by an electronic device of a different user of the family, and
wherein the content store is associated with a predetermined number of electronic devices authorized to access the content store, wherein the predetermined number is greater than one.
9. The method of claim 8 , further comprising, displaying, by the electronic device, a list of contents including the contents stored in the electronic device and the user-uploaded contents stored in the content store and not stored in the electronic device.
10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the contents stored in the electronic device and the user-uploaded contents stored in the content store and not stored in the electronic device are both simultaneously presented in the list of contents and are presented differently in the list of contents.
11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the contents comprise at least one of photo content and video content.
12. The method of claim 8 , wherein at least another one of the user-uploaded contents is uploaded by synchronization between the electronic device and the server.
13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the synchronization between the electronic device and the server is determined to be performed based on a type of communication link connecting the electronic device to a network.
14. The method of claim 12 , wherein the synchronization between the electronic device and the server is performed as a background operation.
15. A system for sharing content of a user, the system comprising:
a server comprising one or more storages configured to implement a content store associated with a family, the content store for storing user-uploaded contents of the family uploaded from electronic devices of users belonging to the family; and
an electronic device of a user of the family, the electronic device comprising:
a storage configured to store contents;
at least one hardware processor configured to:
control to send, toward the server, a request for one of the user-uploaded contents stored in the content store, the requested content not being stored in the storage, and
control to download the requested content from the content store,
wherein at least one of the user-uploaded contents is uploaded by an electronic device of a different user of the family, and
wherein the server is configured to authorize up to a predetermined number of electronic devices to access the content store associated with the family, where the predetermined number is greater than one.
16. The system of claim 15 , wherein:
the electronic device further comprises a display; and
the at least one hardware processor is further configured to control the display to present a list of contents including the contents stored in the storage of the electronic device and the user-uploaded contents stored in the content store and not stored in the storage of the electronic device.
17. The system of claim 16 , wherein the contents stored in the storage of the electronic device and the user-uploaded contents stored in the content store and not stored in the storage of the electronic device are both simultaneously presented in the list of contents and are presented differently in the list of contents.
18. The system of claim 15 , wherein at least another one of the user-uploaded contents is automatically uploaded by synchronization between the electronic device and the server.
19. The system of claim 18 , wherein the synchronization between the electronic device and the server is determined to be performed based on a type of communication link connecting the electronic device to a network.
20. The system of claim 18 , wherein the synchronization between the electronic device and the server is performed as a background operation.
