Abstract

Example devices are disclosed herein that include a first elongated band coupled to a first housing to be located on a first side of a head of a subject and a second housing to be located near a second side of the head of the subject, the first elongated band comprising a first set of electrodes. The example device also includes a second elongated band coupled to the first housing and to the second housing, the second elongated band comprising a second set of electrodes. In addition, the device includes a third elongated band coupled to the first housing and to the second housing, the third elongated band comprising a third set of electrodes.

Claims (34)

1. A headset comprising:

a support to be disposed at least partially around a head of a subject;

a first housing carried by the support, the first housing to be disposed on a first side of the head of the subject;

a second housing carried by the support, the second housing to be disposed on a second side of the head of the subject opposite the first side; and

a band adjustably coupled to the first housing and the second housing, the band including:

an electrode strip to be disposed over the head of the subject such that a first end of the electrode strip is adjacent the first housing and a second end of the electrode strip is adjacent the second housing; and

a strap extending through an aperture in the electrode strip, the strap adjustably coupled to the first housing to adjust a position of the electrode strip relative to the head of the subject.

2. The headset of claim 1 , wherein the aperture is a first aperture, the first aperture near the first end of the electrode strip, a second aperture in the electrode strip near the second end of the electrode strip.

3. The headset of claim 1 , wherein the first end of the electrode strip is spaced apart from the first housing and the second end of the electrode strip is spaced apart from the second housing.

4. The headset of claim 1 , wherein the strap is slidable along the electrode strip.

5. The headset of claim 1 , wherein the band is a first band and the electrode strip is a first electrode strip, further including a second band adjustably coupled to the first housing and the second housing, the second band including a second electrode strip to be disposed over the head of the subject such that a first end of the second electrode strip is adjacent the first housing and a second end of the second electrode strip is adjacent the second housing.

6. The headset of claim 5 , wherein the strap is a first strap, the second band including a second strap.

7. The headset of claim 6 , wherein the second strap extends through an aperture in the second electrode strip.

8. The headset of claim 7 , wherein the second strap is adjustably coupled to the first housing to adjust a position of the second electrode strip relative to the head of the subject.

9. The headset of claim 8 , further including a third band adjustably coupled to the first housing and the second housing, the third band including:

a third electrode strip to be disposed over the head of the subject such that a first end of the third electrode strip is adjacent the first housing and a second end of the third electrode strip is adjacent the second housing; and

a third strap extending through an aperture in the third electrode strip, the third strap adjustably coupled to the first housing to adjust a position of the third electrode strip relative to the head of the subject.

10. The headset of claim 7 , wherein the second strap is adjustably coupled to the second housing to adjust a position of the second electrode strip relative to the head of the subject.

11. The headset of claim 1 , wherein the band includes electrodes carried by the electrode strip.

12. The headset of claim 11 , wherein the electrodes are removably coupled to the electrode strip.

13. The headset of claim 11 , wherein the electrodes include pin electrodes.

14. The headset of claim 11 , wherein the band includes a printed circuit board (PCB) molded into the electrode strip, the electrodes communicatively coupled to the PCB.

15. The headset of claim 11 , further including a processor to:

analyze signals gathered by the electrodes;

determine a mental state of the subject based on the signals; and

cause a notification to be presented to the subject based on the mental state.

16. The headset of claim 15 , wherein the processor is to:

analyze the signals over time;

determine a baseline of mental activity of the subject based on the signals over time; and

determine a change in mental state of the subject based on a deviation from the baseline.

17. The headset of claim 1 , wherein the band includes a first electrode on a first side of the electrode strip and a second electrode on a second side of the electrode strip, and wherein tightening of the strap increases a distance between the first electrode and the second electrode.

18. The headset of claim 1 , wherein the band includes a ring electrode and a pin electrode carried by the electrode strip.

19. The headset of claim 1 , wherein the band includes a plurality of protrusions along the electrode strip to maintain alignment of the strap.

20. The headset of claim 1 , wherein the support includes an elastic band.
