Abstract

Embodiments of systems and methods for the aggregation, analysis, display and monetization of pricing data for commodities in general, and which may be particularly useful applied to vehicles are disclosed. Specifically, in certain embodiments, historical transaction data associated with a particular vehicle configuration may be obtained and processed to determine pricing data associated with the vehicle configuration. The historical transaction data or determined pricing data may then be presented in an intuitive manner.

Claims (44)

1. A system, comprising:

a vehicle data system coupled to one or more computer devices over a network, the vehicle data system comprising at least a processor and a non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions executable to:

access vehicle price data, wherein the vehicle price data comprises price data on vehicles received from a vehicle price data source via the network;

determine vehicle configuration price data for a vehicle configuration by associating each of a set of vehicle price data with the vehicle configuration;

determine modeled vehicle configuration price data corresponding to the vehicle configuration by applying one or more models to the vehicle configuration price data, wherein the modeled vehicle configuration price data includes one or more quantifiable prices determined based on the vehicle configuration price data;

receive a specification of the vehicle configuration; and

generate an interface including the modeled vehicle configuration price data for the specified vehicle configuration, wherein the generation of the interface is initiated substantially contemporaneously to the reception of the specified vehicle configuration and the interface is adapted to present the modeled vehicle configuration price data for the specified vehicle configuration and the quantifiable prices, and to present the quantifiable prices in association with the modeled vehicle configuration price data.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the modeled configuration price data comprises sets of historical vehicle sales associated with the vehicle configuration.

3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the sets of historical vehicle sales data are associated with a time period.

4. The system of claim 3 , wherein each set of the sets of historical vehicle sales is presented as an icon representing a number of that set of historical vehicle sales.

5. The system of claim 3 , wherein each set of historical vehicle sales data corresponds to a number of standard deviations from the one or more quantifiable prices.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more quantifiable prices.is Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) or a market average price.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more quantifiable prices are a price point or a price range.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more quantifiable price ranges are represented graphically or numerically.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the price data on vehicles comprises used car listing prices.

10. A method, comprising:

at a vehicle data system coupled to one or more computer devices over a network:

accessing vehicle price data, wherein the vehicle price data comprises price data on vehicles received from a vehicle price data source via the network;

determining vehicle configuration price data for a vehicle configuration by associating each of a set of vehicle price data with the vehicle configuration;

determining modeled vehicle configuration price data corresponding to the vehicle configuration by applying one or more models to the vehicle configuration price data, wherein the modeled vehicle configuration price data includes one or more quantifiable prices determined based on the vehicle configuration price data;

receiving a specification of the vehicle configuration; and

generating an interface including the modeled vehicle configuration price data for the specified vehicle configuration, wherein the generation of the interface is initiated substantially contemporaneously to the reception of the specified vehicle configuration and the interface is adapted to present the modeled vehicle configuration price data for the specified vehicle configuration and the quantifiable prices, and to present the quantifiable prices in association with the modeled vehicle configuration price data.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the modeled configuration price data comprises sets of historical vehicle sales associated with the vehicle configuration.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the sets of historical vehicle sales data are associated with a time period.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein each set of the sets of historical vehicle sales is presented as an icon representing a number of that set of historical vehicle sales.

14. The method of claim 13 , wherein each set of historical vehicle sales data corresponds to a number of standard deviations from the one or more quantifiable prices.

15. The method of claim 10 , wherein the one or more quantifiable prices.is Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) or a market average price.

16. The method of claim 10 , wherein the one or more quantifiable prices are a price point or a price range.

17. The method of claim 10 , wherein the one or more quantifiable price ranges are represented graphically or numerically.

18. The method of claim 10 , wherein the price data on vehicles comprises used car listing prices.

19. A non-transitory computer readable medium, comprising instructions for:

accessing vehicle price data, wherein the vehicle price data comprises price data on vehicles received from a vehicle price data source via the network;

determining vehicle configuration price data for a vehicle configuration by associating each of a set of vehicle price data with the vehicle configuration;

determining modeled vehicle configuration price data corresponding to the vehicle configuration by applying one or more models to the vehicle configuration price data, wherein the modeled vehicle configuration price data includes one or more quantifiable prices determined based on the vehicle configuration price data;

receiving a specification of the vehicle configuration; and

generating an interface including the modeled vehicle configuration price data for the specified vehicle configuration, wherein the generation of the interface is initiated substantially contemporaneously to the reception of the specified vehicle configuration and the interface is adapted to present the modeled vehicle configuration price data for the specified vehicle configuration and the quantifiable prices, and to present the quantifiable prices in association with the modeled vehicle configuration price data.

20. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the modeled configuration price data comprises sets of historical vehicle sales associated with the vehicle configuration.

21. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 20 , wherein the sets of historical vehicle sales data are associated with a time period.

22. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 21 , wherein each set of the sets of historical vehicle sales is presented as an icon representing a number of that set of historical vehicle sales.

23. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 22 , wherein each set of historical vehicle sales data corresponds to a number of standard deviations from the one or more quantifiable prices.

24. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the one or more quantifiable prices.is Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) or a market average price.

25. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the one or more quantifiable prices are a price point or a price range.

26. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the one or more quantifiable price ranges are represented graphically or numerically.

27. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the price data on vehicles comprises used car listing prices.
