Abstract

A backlight module is provided. The backlight module includes a light guide plate, a reflective component, a reflection-reducing component, and a light source. The light guide plate includes a surface having a main region and a peripheral region surrounding the main region. The reflective component is disposed adjacent to the surface and corresponding to the main region. The reflection-reducing component is disposed adjacent to the surface and corresponding to the peripheral region. The light source emits a light to a side of the light guide plate. In addition, a reflectivity of the reflection-reducing component is less than a reflectivity of the reflective component.

Claims (38)

1. A backlight module, comprising:

a light guide plate comprising a surface having a main region and a peripheral region surrounding the main region;

a reflective component disposed adjacent to the surface and corresponding to the main region;

a reflection-reducing component disposed adjacent to the surface and corresponding to the peripheral region; and

a light source emitting a light to a side of the light guide plate;

wherein a reflectivity of the reflection-reducing component is less than a reflectivity of the reflective component;

wherein the backlight module further comprises an active region and a border region surrounding the active region, and the reflection-reducing component is disposed in the border region.

2. The backlight module as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the reflection-reducing component is disposed at a side of the light guide plate opposite to the side to which the light source emits the light.

3. The backlight module as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the reflection-reducing component is disposed along all sides of the light guide plate.

4. The backlight module as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the reflection-reducing component is discontinuous.

5. The backlight module as claimed in claim 1 , wherein a ratio of the reflectivity of the reflection-reducing component to the reflectivity of the reflective component is greater than or equal to 3% and less than or equal to 85%.

6. The backlight module as claimed in claim 1 , wherein a ratio of light intensity in the border region to light intensity in the active region is greater than or equal to 20% and less than or equal to 80%.

7. The backlight module as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising a housing component disposed adjacent to the light guide plate and on the reflection-reducing component.

8. The backlight module as claimed in claim 7 , wherein a first width of the reflection-reducing component between the housing component and the reflective component in the border region is greater than or equal to a second width of the reflective component in the border region.

9. The backlight module as claimed in claim 8 , wherein a ratio of the second width to the first width is in a range from 1:1 to 1:2.

10. The backlight module as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the reflection-reducing component comprises a first glue layer and a substrate layer disposed on the first glue layer.

11. The backlight module as claimed in claim 10 , wherein the reflection-reducing component further comprises a second glue layer, and the substrate layer is disposed between the first glue layer and the second glue layer.

12. The backlight module as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the substrate layer or the second glue layer is patterned.

13. The backlight module as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the second glue layer is in contact with the light guide plate.

14. A display device, comprising:

a backlight module comprising:

a light guide plate comprising a surface having a main region and a peripheral region surrounding the main region;

a reflective component disposed adjacent to the surface and corresponding to the main region;

a reflection-reducing component disposed adjacent to the surface and corresponding to the peripheral region; and

a light source emitting a light to a side of the light guide plate;

wherein a reflectivity of the reflection-reducing component is less than a reflectivity of the reflective component;

wherein the display device further comprises a display area and a non-display area surrounding the display area, and the reflection-reducing component is disposed corresponding to the non-display area.

The display device as claimed in claim 14 , wherein a portion of the light guide plate is disposed corresponding to the non-display area, and a ratio of a width of the reflection-reducing component overlapping the light guide plate to a width of the light guide plate disposed corresponding to the non-display area is in a range from 1:1.5 to 1:3.

16. The display device as claimed in claim 14 , wherein a ratio of the reflectivity of the reflection-reducing component to the reflectivity of the reflective component is greater than or equal to 3% and less than or equal to 85%.

17. The display device as claimed in claim 14 , wherein a ratio of light intensity of the backlight module corresponding to the non-display area to light intensity of the backlight module corresponding to the display area is greater than or equal to 20% and less than or equal to 80%.

18. The display device as claimed in claim 14 , wherein a top surface of the reflection-reducing component that is adjacent to the light guide plate is patterned.

19. A backlight module, comprising:

a light guide plate comprising a surface having a main region and a peripheral region surrounding the main region;

a reflective component disposed adjacent to the surface and corresponding to the main region;

a reflection-reducing component disposed adjacent to the surface and corresponding to the peripheral region; and

a light source emitting a light to a side of the light guide plate;

wherein a reflectivity of the reflection-reducing component is less than a reflectivity of the reflective component;

wherein the reflection-reducing component comprises a first glue layer and a substrate layer disposed on the first glue layer.
