Abstract

The present invention relates to fluorinated compounds of formula I and methods of synthesizing these compounds. The present invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing the fluorinated compounds of the invention, and methods of treating fibrosis, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy (DR), macular edema, diabetic macular edema (DME), and macular edema following retinal vein occlusion (RVO), by administering these compounds and pharmaceutical compositions to subjects in need thereof.

12. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound of claim 2 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.

13. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound of claim 3 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.

14. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound of claim 6 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.

15. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound of claim 8 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.

16. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound of claim 10 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.

17. A method of treating fibrosis in a subject, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of claim 2 to treat the fibrosis.

18. A method of treating fibrosis in a subject, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of claim 3 to treat the fibrosis.

19. A method of treating a disease or condition selected from macular degeneration, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, retinopathy of prematurity, or macular edema following retinal vein occlusion in a subject, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of claim 2 to treat the disease or condition.

A method of treating a disease or condition selected from macular degeneration, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, retinopathy of prematurity, or macular edema following retinal vein occlusion in a subject, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of claim 3 to treat the disease or condition.
