Abstract

A novel maize variety designated X00P574 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof are produced by crossing inbred maize varieties. Methods for producing a maize plant by crossing hybrid maize variety X00P574 with another maize plant are disclosed. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into X00P574 through backcrossing or genetic transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby are described. Maize variety X00P574, the seed, the plant produced from the seed, and variants, mutants, and minor modifications of maize variety X00P574 are provided. Methods for producing maize varieties derived from maize variety X00P574 and methods of using maize variety X00P574 are disclosed.

Claims (20)

1. A seed of hybrid maize variety X00P574, representative seed produced by crossing a first plant of variety PH41H2 with a second plant of variety PH4DCG, wherein representative seed of the varieties PH41H2 and PH4DCG have been deposited under NCMA Accession Numbers 202205169 and 202204026, respectively.

2. A plant or plant part of hybrid maize variety X00P574 grown from the seed of claim 1 , wherein the plant part comprises at least one cell of hybrid maize variety X00P574.

3. A method of producing the seed of claim 1 , the method comprising crossing a plant of variety PH41H2 with a plant of variety PH4DCG.

4. A seed of hybrid maize variety X00P574, representative seed produced by crossing a first plant of variety PH41H2 with a second plant of variety PH4DCG, wherein representative seed of the varieties PH41H2 and PH4DCG have been deposited under NCMA Accession Numbers 202205169 and 202204026, respectively, further comprising a transgene, wherein the transgene is introduced by backcrossing or genetic transformation into the variety PH41H2, the variety PH4DCG, or both varieties PH41H2 and PH4DCG.

5. A seed of hybrid maize variety X00P574 further comprising a locus conversion, wherein a plant grown from the seed comprises a trait conferred by the locus conversion, and wherein the seed is produced by crossing a first plant of variety PH41H2 with a second plant of variety PH4DCG, wherein the first plant, the second plant or both further comprise the locus conversion, and wherein representative seed of the varieties PH41H2 and PH4DCG have been deposited under NCMA Accession Numbers 202205169 and 202204026, respectively, and wherein the seed produces a plant having otherwise all of the physiological and morphological characteristics as maize variety X00P574 when grown under the same environmental conditions.

6. The seed of hybrid maize variety X00P574 further comprising a locus conversion of claim 5 , wherein the locus conversion confers a property selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide tolerance, insect resistance, disease resistance, waxy starch, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified phytic acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism and modified protein metabolism.

7. The seed of hybrid maize variety X00P574 further comprising a locus conversion of claim 5 , further comprising a seed treatment on the surface of the seed.

8. A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the seed of hybrid maize variety X00P574 further comprising a locus conversion of claim 5 .

9. A plant or plant part grown from the hybrid maize variety X00P574 seed of claim 5 , the plant part comprising at least one cell of hybrid maize variety X00P574 further comprising the single locus conversion.

10. A method of producing a commodity plant product comprising starch, syrup, silage, fat or protein, the method comprising producing the commodity plant product from the plant or plant part of claim 9 .

11. A method for producing a second maize plant, the method comprising applying plant breeding techniques to the plant or plant part of claim 9 to produce the second maize plant.

12. A method for producing a hybrid maize variety X00P574 seed of claim 4 , the method comprising crossing a first plant of variety PH41H2 with a second plant of variety PH4DCG, representative seed of the varieties PH41H2 and PH4DCG having been deposited under NCMA Accession Numbers 202205169 and 202204026, respectively, wherein at least one of the varieties PH41H2 and PH4DCG further comprises the transgene.

13. The seed of claim 4 , further comprising a seed treatment on the surface of the seed.

14. The seed of claim 4 , wherein the transgene confers a property selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide tolerance, insect resistance, disease resistance, waxy starch, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified phytic acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism and modified protein metabolism.

15. A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the seed of claim 4 .

16. A plant or plant part produced by growing the seed of claim 4 , the plant part comprising at least one F1 hybrid maize variety X00P574 cell further comprising the transgene.

17. A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the plant or plant part of claim 16 .

18. A method of producing a commodity plant product comprising starch, syrup, silage, fat or protein, the method comprising producing the commodity plant product from the plant or plant part of claim 16 .

19. A method for producing a second maize plant, the method comprising crossing the maize plant or plant part of claim 16 with itself or with a different maize plant.

20. A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the plant or plant part of claim 9 .
