Broadband diagnostics system
A broadband diagnostics system provides the capability to collect, store and retrieve diagnostic information for the purpose of comparing various channel information to current and existing network elements and conditions. The system allows testing, troubleshooting, tracking, identifying and logging information pertaining to cable, xDSL, FTTx and other networks, and their associated elements. The system also provides identification and testing of network elements deployed at various customer premises, behind a demarcation device.
1. A broadband diagnostics system comprising:
a remote client device comprising one or more input devices for receiving input from a user;
a first communication interface in communication with the remote client device via a first network;
a second communication interface in communication with a second network, the second network comprising at least one demarcation device, wherein diagnostic information is received from at least one component of the second network via the second communication interface;
a storage device that stores the diagnostic information received from the at least one component of the second network via the second communication interface;
one or more processors that:
receive the input from the remote client device via the first communication interface; and
transmit a subset of the diagnostic information to the remote client device via the first communication interface, wherein the subset of the diagnostic information includes channel information for one or more channels of a bonded channel, and wherein the subset of the diagnostic information is selected based on the input from the user.
2. The broadband diagnostics system of claim 1 , wherein the input includes a defined time period used in selecting the subset of diagnostic information.
3. The broadband diagnostics system of claim 1 , wherein the channel information comprises a signal level of each of the one or more channels of the bonded channel.
4. The broadband diagnostics system of claim 1 , wherein the channel information comprises a transmit signal level, a receive signal level, and a signal to noise ratio.
5. The broadband diagnostics system of claim 1 , wherein the channel information comprises historical diagnostic information for a plurality of bonded channels.
6. The broadband diagnostics system of claim 1 , wherein the channel information comprises real time information, historical information, or both.
7. The broadband diagnostics system of claim 1 , wherein the channel information comprises information for a plurality of individual channels of the bonded channel.
8. A broadband diagnostics system comprising:
a first communication interface in communication with a first network, wherein input from a remote client device is received at the first communication interface from the first network;
a second communication interface in communication with a second network, the second network communicating via at least one bonded channel, wherein diagnostic information for at least one device on the second network is received at the second communication interface from the second network; and
one or more processors that:
receive the diagnostic information and the input;
select a subset of the diagnostic information comprising one or more channels of the at least one bonded channel in the diagnostic information based on the input from the remote client device; and
transmit the subset of the diagnostic information to the remote client device via the first communication interface.
9. The broadband diagnostics system of claim 8 , wherein the input includes a defined time period used in selecting the subset of the diagnostic information.
10. The broadband diagnostics system of claim 8 , wherein the channel information comprises a signal level of the one or more channels of the at least one bonded channel.
11. The broadband diagnostics system of claim 8 , wherein the channel information comprises a transmit signal level, a receive signal level, and a signal to noise ratio.
12. The broadband diagnostics system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one bonded channel is selected based on the input from the remote client device.
13. The broadband diagnostics system of claim 8 , wherein the channel information comprises real time information, historical information, or both.
