Abstract

Methods, systems and computer program products for implementing a mere-parser are disclosed. Text data is processed to generate one or more parse items. A boundary based attribute associated with one of the parse items is identified, and the identified mere attribute is associated with one or more of the remaining parse items that is not blocked from associated with the boundary based attribute.

Claims (33)

1. A computer system comprising one or more processors and memory encoding instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:

identify temporal and spatial descriptions and/or medication dosages within stored text;

identify boundary markers in the temporal and spatial descriptions and/or medication dosages;

generate one or more parse items based on the identified boundary markers;

identify boundary-based attributes;

identify whether each of the one or more parse items includes a propagating attribute;

identify a direction of the propagating attribute; and

generate a merged parse item from at least two of the parse items.

2. The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the boundary-based attributes comprise a degree of certainty.

3. The computer system of claim 2 , wherein the degree of certainty comprises possible, probable, or ruled-out.

4. The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the boundary-based attributes comprise a historical attribute, a current attribute, or a future planned attribute.

5. The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to determine whether a next parse item comprises a blocking attribute that blocks association of the propagating attribute in the direction of the propagating attribute.

6. The computer system of claim 5 , wherein the blocking attribute comprises a degree of certainty.

7. The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to compare the merged parse item to a target semantic data definition.

8. The computer system of claim 7 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to compare each of the at least two of the parse items to the target semantic data definition.

9. The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to convert the stored text into a plain text format before identifying temporal and spatial descriptions and/or medication dosages within the stored text.

10. The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more parse items are arranged in an ordered data structure.

11. The computer system of claim 10 , where the ordered data structure comprises a linked list of parse items ordered from left to right, ordered in an array, ordered in a tree, ordered in a graph, ordered in a stack, ordered in a heap, or combinations thereof.

12. The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the boundary markers comprise one or more punctuation marks, words or patterns of words.

13. The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the parse items are not adjacent in the direction of the propagating attribute.

14. A method of generating a merged parse item comprising:

identifying temporal and spatial descriptions and/or medication dosages within stored text;

identifying boundary markers in the temporal and spatial descriptions and/or medication dosages;

generating one or more parse items based on the identified boundary markers;

identifying boundary-based attributes comprising a degree of certainty;

identifying whether each of the one or more parse items includes a propagating attribute; and

generating the merged parse item from at least two of the parse items.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the degree of certainty comprises possible, probable, or ruled-out.

16. The method of claim 14 , further comprising identifying a direction of the propagating attribute.

17. The method of claim 16 , further comprising determining whether a next parse item comprises a blocking attribute that blocks association of the propagating attribute in the direction of the propagating attribute.

18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the blocking attribute comprises the degree of certainty.

19. The method of claim 14 , further comprising comparing the merged parse item to a target semantic data definition.

20. The method of claim 14 , further comprising arranging the one or more parse items into a linked list of parse items ordered from left to right, an array, a tree, a graph, a stack, a heap, or combinations thereof.
