Abstract

A bladed chassis system facilitates installation of the bladed chassis system and replacement of the blades at the chassis. For example, a front panel of the blade can be opened either upwardly or downwardly at the discretion of the user. Blades can be inserted and removed from the front and/or the rear of the bladed chassis system at the discretion of the user. Cables can be routed to the rear of the chassis system from either of two sides at the discretion of the user. The blades carried by the chassis have fiber management trays that can be rotationally oriented in any desired rotational position at the discretion of the user.

Claims (33)

1. A chassis panel comprising:

a chassis defining an interior bounded at opposite sides by opposing first and second sidewalls, the first and second sidewalls extending along a forward-rearward axis between opposite front and rear ends of the chassis;

a guide member disposed at the first sidewall, the guide member defining a channel extending along the forward-rearward axis;

a tray configured to fit within the interior of the chassis, the tray including a slide configured to glide along the channel defined by the guide member between first and second positions along the forward-rearward axis, the second position being farther forward along the forward-rearward axis than the first position;

a tray locking arrangement including a stopping arrangement and a latching arrangement, the stopping arrangement including a stop member carried by the tray and a recess defined in the channel, the stop member being biased into the recess when aligned with the recess along the forward-rearward axis when the tray is disposed in the first position, the latching arrangement including a first latching part carried by the tray and a second latching part carried by the guide member, the first latching part engaging the second latching part when the first and second latching parts are aligned along the forward-rearward axis when the tray is disposed in the second position, the tray being locked in position along the forward-rearward axis until the first and second latching parts are released, the stop member being separate from the first latching part, the recess being disposed rearwardly of the second latching part.

2. The chassis panel of claim 1 , wherein the recess extends along the forward-rearward axis between opposite front and rear ends, the front end of the recess defining a cam.

3. The chassis panel of claim 1 , wherein the recess extends along the forward-rearward axis between opposite front and rear ends, the rear end of the recess defining a cam.

4. The chassis panel of claim 1 , wherein the recess extends along the forward-rearward axis between opposite front and rear ends, the front end of the recess defining a rearward-facing stop.

5. The chassis panel of claim 1 , wherein one of the first and second latching parts includes a latch arm and the other of the first and second latching parts defines a forward recess.

6. The chassis panel of claim 5 , wherein the first latching part includes the latch arm and the second latching part defines the forward recess.

7. The chassis panel of claim 1 , further comprising a deflectable handle extending outwardly from the front end of the chassis, wherein deflection of the handle actuates the first latching part of the latching arrangement.

8. A tray for use in a chassis panel, the tray comprising:

a tray body configured to carry a plurality of adapter ports, the tray body extending along a width between opposite first and second sides of the tray body and along a depth between a front and a rear of the tray body;

a stop member carried by the tray body at the first side of the tray body, the stop member being deflectable between an outward position and an inward position; and

a leaf spring arrangement carried by the tray body at the first side of the tray body, the leaf spring arrangement extending along the depth of the tray body between opposite first and second ends, the leaf spring arrangement curving inwardly towards the second side of the tray body between the first and second ends, the first end of the leaf spring arrangement being configured to bias the stop member outwardly from the first side of the tray to the outward position; and

a handle carried by the tray body, the handle extending forwardly from the tray body at the first side of the tray body, the handle being inwardly deflectable to actuate the stop member to move against the bias of the leaf spring arrangement from the outward position to the inward position.

9. The tray of claim 8 , wherein the deflectable stop member is integrally formed with the handle.

10. The tray of claim 9 , wherein the first end of the leaf spring arrangement applies a biasing force to the handle at a location offset from the stop member.

11. The tray of claim 8 , wherein the stop member is a first stop member, and wherein the tray further comprises:

a second stop member carried by the tray body, the second stop member being disposed rearwardly along the depth of the tray body from the first stop member, the second stop member being biased outwardly from the first side of the tray by the second end of the leaf spring arrangement.

12. The tray of claim 11 , wherein the first and second stop members are carried by separate parts mounted to the tray.

13. The tray of claim 11 , wherein the first stop member is integrally formed with the handle.

14. The tray of claim 11 , wherein inward deflection of the handle actuates the second stop member to move from a respective outwardly position to a respective inward position.

15. A chassis panel comprising:

a chassis defining an interior bounded at opposite sides by opposing first and second sidewalls, the first and second sidewalls extending along a forward-rearward axis between opposite front and rear ends of the chassis;

a guide member disposed at the first sidewall, the guide member defining a plurality of channels extending along the forward-rearward axis;

a plurality of trays configured to fit within the interior of the chassis, each tray including a slide configured to glide along a respective one of the channels defined by the guide member between first and second positions along the forward-rearward axis, the second position of each tray being farther forward along the forward-rearward axis than the first position; and

a tray locking arrangement disposed at a first of the trays, the tray locking arrangement including a stopping arrangement and a latching arrangement, the stopping arrangement including a stop member carried by the first tray and a recess defined in a first of the channels, the stop member being biased into the recess when aligned with the recess along the forward-rearward axis when the first tray is disposed in the first position, the latching arrangement including a respective first latching part carried by the first tray and a second latching part carried by the guide member, the first latching part engaging the second latching part when the first and second latching parts are aligned along the forward-rearward axis when the first tray is disposed in the second position, the first tray being locked against continued forward movement along the forward-rearward axis until the first and second latching parts are released, the stop member being separate from the first latching part, the recess being disposed rearwardly of the second latching part.

16. The chassis panel of claim 15 , wherein the recess extends along the forward-rearward axis between opposite front and rear ends, the front end of the recess defining a cam.

17. The chassis panel of claim 15 , wherein the recess extends along the forward-rearward axis between opposite front and rear ends, the rear end of the recess defining a cam.

18. The chassis panel of claim 15 , wherein the recess extends along the forward-rearward axis between opposite front and rear ends, the front end of the recess defining a rearward-facing stop.

19. The chassis panel of claim 15 , wherein the first latching part includes a latch arm and the second latching part defines a forward recess.

20. The chassis panel of claim 15 , further comprising a deflectable handle extending outwardly from the front end of the chassis, wherein deflection of the handle actuates the first latching part of the latching arrangement.
