ACTIVE MARKER ATTACHMENT FOR PERFORMANCE CAPTURE
Installation of active markers light components to a wearable article of an object in a performance capture system is provided. The active marker light components are inserted into a receptacle to position the active marker light components onto the wearable article. The active marker light component and a strand to which the active marker light component is coupled, are inserted into the receptacle. The strand may be engaged into a channel in the receptacle. A top portion of the receptacle is introduced through an opening in the wearable article from the inside of the wearable article to the outside and a base portion catches an inner side of the wearable article. A fitting may be rotatably secured around the top portion at the outer side of the wearable article, to press against the base portion through the wearable article. The active markers light components may be removed from the wearable article by rotating the fitting in a counter-direction and guiding the top portion back through the opening.
1 . A method of removably installing an active marker light component, on a wearable article, the method comprising:
providing a receptacle comprising:
a top portion having at least one section that is transmissive to light of at least one particular wavelength range emitted from the active marker light component, wherein the top portion includes a first slot; and
a base portion coupled to a lower side of the top portion, wherein the base portion includes at least one channel;
inserting the active marker light component and a distal end of a strand to which the active marker light component is coupled, into the first slot;
engaging the strand into the at least one channel; and
introducing the top portion through an opening in the wearable article from an inner side of the wearable article to a position on an outer side of the wearable article, wherein the base portion abuts against the inner side of the wearable article.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further including positioning the active marker light component to emit the light of at least one particular wavelength range through the at least one section of the top portion.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein positioning the active marker light component includes forming a gap in a chamber between the active marker light component and an interior surface of the top portion.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a plurality of active marker light components are coupled to the strand, and the method further comprises:
providing a plurality of receptacles; and
repeating the inserting, engaging and introducing for each of the plurality of receptacles.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
inserting a control unit into a pouch of the wearable article, and
coupling a proximal end of the strand to the control unit to provide at least one of electrical communication or power supply to the active marker light component via the strand.
6 . The method of claim 5 , further comprising:
removably attaching a flap of the wearable article to cover the control unit and proximal end of the strand coupled to the control unit.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the top portion comprises a second slot, wherein the at least one channel includes a first channel and a second channel, the method further comprising:
after inserting the distal end of the strand through the first slot, extending the distal end of the strand through the second slot; and
engaging the strand into the first channel at a proximal segment of the strand and into the second channel at a distal segment of the strand.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one channel include a plurality of bumps and wherein engaging the strand into the at least one channel includes gripping the strand against the plurality of bumps.
9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
guiding the top portion through the opening from the outer side of the wearable article and toward the inner side of the wearable article, to remove the receptacle from the wearable article; and
disengaging the strand from the at least one channel.
10 . A method of removably installing an active marker light component coupled to a strand, to a wearable article, the method comprising:
providing a receptacle comprising:
a top portion having at least one section that is transmissive to light of at least one particular wavelength range emitted from the active marker light component; and
a base portion coupled to a lower side of the top portion, wherein the base portion has a diameter greater than a diameter of the lower side of the top portion;
introducing the top portion through an opening in the wearable article from an inner side of the wearable article to a position on an outer side of the wearable article, wherein the base portion abuts against the inner side of the wearable article; and
rotatably securing a fitting around the top portion at the outer side of the wearable article, to press against the base portion through the wearable article.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the fitting includes at least one ridge and an exterior surface of the top portion includes a corresponding groove for each of the at least one ridge, and
wherein rotatably securing the fitting around the top portion further comprises rotatably engaging each of the at least one ridge with the corresponding groove.
12 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:
counter rotating the fitting to unlock the fitting from around the top portion; and
guiding the top portion through the opening from the outer side of the wearable article and toward the inner side of the wearable article, to remove the receptacle from the wearable article.
13 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the fitting is opaque for preventing leakage of the light from the active marker light component through the base portion.
14 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the fitting includes a color distinct from a color of the outer side of the wearable article.
15 . A method of removably installing an active marker light component, on a wearable article, the method comprising:
providing a receptacle comprising:
a top portion having at least one section that is transmissive to light of at least one particular wavelength range emitted from the active marker light component, wherein the top portion includes a first slot; and
a base portion coupled to a lower side of the top portion, wherein the base portion includes at least one channel;
inserting the active marker light component and a distal end of a strand to which the active marker light component is coupled, into the first slot;
engaging the strand into the at least one channel;
introducing the top portion through an opening in the wearable article from an inner side of the wearable article to a position on an outer side of the wearable article, wherein the base portion abuts against the inner side of the wearable article; and
rotatably securing a fitting around the top portion at the outer side of the wearable article, to bias against the base portion through the wearable article.
16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the top portion comprises a second slot, and wherein the at least one channel includes a first channel and a second channel, the method further comprising:
after inserting the distal end of the strand through the first slot, extending the distal end of the strand through the second slot; and
engaging the strand into the first channel at a proximal segment of the strand and into the second channel at a distal segment of the strand.
17 . The method of claim 15 , further including positioning the active marker light component to emit the light of at least one particular wavelength range through the at least one section of the top portion.
18 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the at least one channel include a plurality of bumps and wherein engaging the strand into the at least one channel includes gripping the strand against the plurality of bumps.
19 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the fitting includes at least one ridge and an exterior surface of the top portion includes a corresponding groove for each of the at least one ridge, and wherein rotatably securing the fitting around the top portion further comprises rotatably engaging each of the at least one ridge with the corresponding groove.
20 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising:
counter rotating the fitting to unlock the fitting from around the top portion;
guiding the top portion through the opening from the outer side of the wearable article and toward the inner side of the wearable article, to remove the receptacle from the wearable article; and
disengaging the strand from the at least one channel.
