ADAPTER FOR USE IN A PLANETARY MIXER

1 . A combination, comprising

an outer container for mounting in a container holder of a planetary mixer, the outer container receiving an inner container arrangement allowing to mix ingredients into the inner container arrangement with the planetary mixer to produce in the inner container arrangement a pharmaceutical composition, the outer container including:

i) a body having an outer wall and an inner wall, the inner wall delimiting a central cavity for nestably receiving the inner container arrangement; and

ii) a slot on the inner wall configured to engage a protrusion on the inner container arrangement when the inner container arrangement is received in the central cavity to inhibit rotational motion of the inner container arrangement within the outer container, induced as a result of combined rotation and revolution imparted to the outer container by the planetary mixer.

2 . The combination of claim 1 , wherein the outer container has a closed bottom and an open top, the central cavity being open at the top for receiving therein the inner container arrangement.

3 . The combination of claim 2 , wherein the outer container has a lid for closing the central cavity.

4 . The combination of claim 3 , wherein the lid is a screw-on lid.

5 . The combination of claim 4 , wherein the outer container is generally cylindrical.

6 . The combination of claim 2 , wherein the inner container arrangement has a top portion and a bottom portion, the protrusion being located adjacent the bottom portion, wherein the slot is configured to receive the protrusion when the inner container arrangement is received in the central cavity.

7 . The combination of claim 1 , wherein the inner container arrangement includes a dispensing container, having a composition dispensing nozzle.

8 . The combination of claim 7 , wherein the inner container arrangement includes an adapter to mount the dispensing container to the outer container.

9 . The combination of claim 8 , wherein the adapter has a plurality of prongs.

10 . The combination of claim 9 , wherein the adapter has a base portion, the protrusion projecting laterally from the base portion.

11 . The combination of claim 7 , wherein the dispensing container includes an actuator to meter the composition through the nozzle.

12 . A combination, comprising:

an outer container for mounting in a container holder of a planetary mixer, the outer container receiving an inner container arrangement allowing to mix ingredients into the inner container arrangement with the planetary mixer to produce in the inner container arrangement a pharmaceutical composition, the inner container arrangement including a dispensing container and including:

i) a dispensing nozzle; and

ii) an actuator operable to meter the composition out of the dispensing nozzle;

the outer container including:

i) a body having an outer wall and an inner wall, the inner wall delimiting a central cavity for nestably receiving the inner container arrangement; and

ii) a slot on the inner wall configured to engage a protrusion on the inner container arrangement when the inner container arrangement is received in the central cavity to inhibit rotational motion of the inner container arrangement within the outer container, induced as a result of combined rotation and revolution imparted to the outer container by the planetary mixer.

13 . The combination of claim 12 , wherein the outer container has a closed bottom and an open top, the central cavity being open at the top for receiving therein the inner container arrangement.

14 . The combination of claim 13 , wherein the outer container has a lid for closing the central cavity.

15 . The combination of claim 14 , wherein the lid is a screw-on lid.

16 . The combination of claim 15 , wherein the outer container is generally cylindrical.

17 . The combination of claim 13 , wherein the inner container arrangement has a top portion and a bottom portion, the protrusion being located adjacent the bottom portion, wherein the slot is configured to receive the protrusion when the inner container arrangement is received in the central cavity.

18 . The combination of claim 13 , wherein the inner container arrangement includes an adapter to mount the dispensing container to the outer container.

19 . The combination of claim 18 , wherein the adapter has a plurality of prongs.

20 . The combination of claim 19 , wherein the adapter has abase portion, the protrusion projecting laterally from the base portion.

21 . An adapter for use with a planetary mixer, the adapter being configured for securing a dispensing container in the mixer for allowing to mix ingredients into the dispensing container with the planetary mixer to produce into the dispensing container a pharmaceutical composition, the container having a longitudinal axis and a transverse axis and including:

a) a composition dispensing nozzle;

b) an actuator operable to meter the composition out the dispensing nozzle; and

c) the adapter, comprising:

i) a wall defining a cavity for receiving the dispensing container, the cavity having an open top through which the dispensing container can be inserted into the cavity; and

ii) a plurality of recesses on the wall circumferentially spaced apart from each other, the recesses extending longitudinally along the cavity.
