Abstract

An urn includes a container body and a lid that covers an internal cavity of the container body. Filigree wires attached to exterior surfaces of the container body and lid define cells filled with layers of enamel. The filigree wires are twisted wires that have a beaded texture, and have exposed portions that extend beyond the layers of enamel.

Claims (25)

1. A cremation urn comprising:

a container body having an internal cavity for storing ashes;

a lid configured to cover the internal cavity;

a plurality of filigree wires attached to the container body and the lid, the attached filigree wires delimiting a plurality of cells; and

a first and a second layer of enamel arranged in the plurality of cells and covering at least portions of the container body and the lid, the first and second layer of enamel leaving exposed portions of the plurality of filigree wires that extend beyond the first and second layer of enamel such that the exposed portions of the filigree wires extend beyond exterior surfaces of the container body and the lid.

2. The cremation urn of claim 1 , further comprising a lid fastening assembly that fastens the lid onto an opening of the container body to close the opening.

3. The cremation urn of claim 2 , wherein the lid fastening assembly includes a first threaded surface around the opening of the container body, and a second threaded surface on the lid that can thread onto the first threaded surface for closing the internal cavity.

4. The cremation urn of claim 1 , wherein the exposed portions of the filigree wires are finished.

5. The cremation urn of claim 4 , wherein the finishing is electroplated nickel.

6. The cremation urn of claim 1 , wherein the container body further comprises transition surfaces above, between, and below a narrowed neck portion, a rounded middle portion, and a pedestal portion, and wherein the transition surfaces are electroplated with nickel.

7. The cremation urn of claim 1 , further comprising: an adhesive between the filigree wires and at least one of the container body or the lid, the adhesive attaching the filigree wires to the container body or the lid.

8. A cremation urn comprising:

a container body having an internal cavity for storing ashes;

a plurality of filigree wires attached to the container body, the attached filigree wires delimiting a plurality of cells; and

a first and a second layer of enamel arranged in the plurality of cells and covering at least portions of the container body, the first and second layer of enamel leaving exposed portions of the plurality of filigree wires that extend beyond the first and second layer of enamel such that the exposed portions of the filigree wires extend beyond exterior surfaces of the container body.

9. The cremation urn of claim 8 , further comprising a lid fastening assembly that allows for a lid to be fastened onto an opening of the container body to close the opening.

10. The cremation urn of claim 8 , wherein the exposed portions of the filigree wires are finished.

11. The cremation urn of claim 10 , wherein the finishing is electroplated nickel.

12. The cremation urn of claim 8 , wherein the container body further comprises transition surfaces above, between, and below a narrowed neck portion, a rounded middle portion, and a pedestal portion, and wherein the transition surfaces are electroplated with nickel.

13. A cremation urn lid configured for use on a cremation urn comprising:

a lid;

a plurality of filigree wires attached to the lid, the attached filigree wires delimiting a plurality of cells; and

a first and a second layer of enamel arranged in the plurality of cells and covering at least portions of the lid, the first and second layer of enamel leaving exposed portions of the plurality of filigree wires that extend beyond the first and second layer of enamel such that the exposed portions of the filigree wires extend beyond exterior surfaces of the lid.

14. The cremation urn lid of claim 13 , wherein the exposed portions of the filigree wires are finished.

15. The cremation urn lid of claim 14 , wherein the finishing is electroplated nickel.
