Abstract

A digital asset management system (DAMS) provides an integrated user experience for the rapid and facile manipulation of a users digital assets in an online environment. Spanning the spectrum of digital assets, the DAMS system set forth herein enables users to tag, fitter, collect, and show such digital assets in a manner which requires preferably minimal user interaction in order to achieve digital asset management and exhibition. Sharing among friends and family becomes much easier and incoming digital assets may be automatically segregated according to user choices or history to enable easier management of such assets. Recognition of relationships, characteristics, features, and the like between different assets may occur automatically and develop an ongoing fashion to enable association of such similar assets into “collections” or the like.

Claims (68)

1. A computer-implemented method comprising the following operations performed by at least one processor:

determining that a client device is connected to a network;

determining one or more metadata files and one or more client assets of the client device to be synchronized with one or more server assets of a server;

based on receiving user input from the client device, determining a synchronization setting for the one or more client assets and the one or more server assets;

determining a usage pattern and whether an exclusion indication exists for the one or more client assets;

determining a storage capacity of a client memory corresponding to the client device;

downloading the one or more server assets from the server to the client device when the client memory is determined not to be at full capacity;

automatically downloading, in clustering groups, the one or more client assets from the client device to the server based on the determined usage patterns and whether the exclusion indication exists; and

transmitting instructions to the client device to display the downloaded one or more client assets.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein determining a synchronization setting comprises:

generating instructions to display a selection message in the client device, the selection message requesting instructions to arrange the synchronization setting as one-way or bi-directional.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the synchronization setting associate the client assets and the server assets with at least one of a one-time upload or automatic synchronization.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

generating a graphical user interface at the client device, the graphical user interface providing functions to edit the synchronization settings, the functions comprising at least one of renaming, adding, removing, and excluding files.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

generating a notification message corresponding to the synchronization, the notification message including a user option to cancel the synchronization and a timer rundown; and

stopping the downloading of the one or more assets when the user option to cancel is executed.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining a downloading session is interrupted due to a lost connection;

pausing the downloading of the client assets and the server assets when the downloading session is interrupted; and

resuming downloading at a point of interruption when the connection is restored.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

generating a synchronization log, the synchronization log including at least one of time of synchronization, name on source of synchronized files, and success or failure indications.

8. An apparatus, comprising:

a storage device that stores a set of instructions; and

at least one processor coupled to the storage device, the set of instructions configuring the at least one processor to:

determine that a client device is connected to a network;

determine one or more metadata files and one or more client assets of the client device to be synchronized with one or more server assets of a server;

based on receiving user input from the client device, determine a synchronization setting for the one or more client assets and the one or more server assets;

determine a usage pattern and whether an exclusion indication exists for the one or more client assets;

determine a storage capacity of a client memory corresponding to the client device;

download the one or more server assets from the server to the client device when the client memory is determined not to be at full capacity;

automatically download, in clustering groups, the one or more client assets from the client device to the server based on the determined usage patterns and whether the exclusion indication exists; and

transmit instructions to the client device to display the downloaded one or more client assets.

9. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein to determine a synchronization setting, the at least one processor is further configured to:

generate instructions to display a selection message in the client device, the selection message requesting instructions to arrange the synchronization setting as one-way or bi-directional.

10. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the synchronization setting associate the client assets and the server assets with at least one of a one-time upload or automatic synchronization.

11. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

generate a graphical user interface at the client device, the graphical user interface providing functions to edit the synchronization settings, the functions comprising at least one of renaming, adding, removing, and excluding files.

12. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

generate a graphical user interface, the graphical user interface providing functions to edit the synchronization settings, the functions comprising at least one of renaming, adding, removing, and excluding files.

13. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

determine a downloading session is interrupted due to a lost connection;

pause the downloading of the client assets and the server assets when the downloading session is interrupted; and

resume downloading at a point of interruption when the connection is restored.

14. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

generate a synchronization log, the synchronization log including at least one of time of synchronization, name on source of synchronized files, and success or failure indications.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable medium that stores instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:

determine that a client device is connected to a network;

determine one or more metadata files and one or more client assets of the client device to be synchronized with one or more server assets of a server;

based on receiving user input from the client device, determine a synchronization setting for the one or more client assets and the one or more server assets;

determine a usage pattern and whether an exclusion indication exists for the one or more client assets;

determine a storage capacity of a client memory corresponding to the client device;

download the one or more server assets from the server to the client device when the client memory is determined not to be at full capacity;

automatically download, in clustering groups, the one or more client assets from the client device to the server based on the determined usage patterns and whether the exclusion indication exists; and

transmit instructions to the client device to display the downloaded one or more client assets.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein stored instructions that cause the at least one processor to determine a synchronization setting, further cause the processor to:

generate instructions to display a selection message in the client device, the selection message requesting instructions to arrange the synchronization setting as one-way or bi-directional.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the synchronization settings associate the client assets and the server assets with at least one of a one-time upload or automatic synchronization.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the stored instructions further cause the processor to:

generate a graphical user interface at the client device, the graphical user interface providing functions to edit the synchronization settings, the functions comprising at least one of renaming, adding, removing, and excluding files.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the stored instructions further cause the processor to:

generate a notification message corresponding to the synchronization, the notification message including a user option to cancel the synchronization and a timer rundown; and

stop the downloading of the client assets and the server assets when the user option to cancel is executed.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the stored instructions further cause the at least one processor to:

determining a downloading session is interrupted due to a lost connection;

pausing the downloading of the client assets and the server assets when the downloading session is interrupted; and

resuming downloading at a point of interruption when the connection is restored.
