Abstract

Athletic performance sensing and/or tracking systems include components for measuring or sensing athletic performance data and/or for storing and/or displaying desired information associated with the athletic performance to the user (or others). Such systems can allow users a wide variety of options in creating workouts, selecting and presenting media content during the athletic performance, etc., e.g., to help keep users entertained and motivated. In some instances, user feedback may be used, optionally in combination with objective data relating to a workout, to control features of the workout routine, to control the music or other media content selected and/or presented, and/or to control features of future workout routines and/or the presented media content.

Claims (49)

1. An activity monitoring system comprising:

a training device comprising a first display device; and

a wearable computing device comprising a second display device,

wherein the computing device further comprises memory storing computer readable instructions that, when executed, cause the wearable computing device to:

transmit, to the training device, workout information corresponding to one or more activities performed by a user;

display, via the second display device of, performance data associated with the one or more activities performed by the user; and

wherein the training device is programmed and adapted to:

modify, based on the workout information, one or more settings of the training device; and

display, via the first display device, the workout information.

2. The activity monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the training device comprises an input system for receiving input data.

3. The activity monitoring system of claim 2 , wherein the input data comprises a modification to a workout to be performed by the user.

4. The activity monitoring system of claim 2 , wherein the training device is further programmed and adapted to:

receive, from the wearable computing device, media content; and

receive, via the input system, data indicating user selections for controlling playback of the media content.

5. The activity monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the workout information comprises one of: an amount of weight, an elevation level, a machine type, and a number of repetitions.

6. The activity monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the training device comprises one or more sensors, and wherein the training device is further programmed and adapted to:

determine, by the one or more sensors, the performance data for the user; and

transmit, to the wearable computing device, the performance data.

7. The activity monitoring system of claim 6 , wherein the performance data comprises one of: a heart rate, a pulse rate, a level of blood pressure, a level of blood oxygen, a di stance travelled, and calorie expenditure.

8. The activity monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the settings of the training device comprise one of: a weight setting, a resistance setting, an incline setting, a target distance setting, a duration setting, a target calorie setting, a speed setting, and a target physiological characteristic setting.

9. The activity monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the training device is further programmed and adapted to:

receive, from the wearable computing device, a predetermined athletic workout; and

modify, based on the predetermined athletic workout, a setting of the training device.

10. A method comprising:

transmitting, by a wearable computing device and to a training device, a first set of data for controlling one or more settings of the training device;

receiving, from the training device, performance data corresponding to one or more activities performed by a user; and

outputting for display, via a display device of the wearable computing device, the performance data.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the one or more settings include one of: a weight setting, a resistance setting, an incline setting, a target distance setting, a duration setting, a target calorie setting, a speed setting, and a target physiological characteristic setting.

12. The method of claim 10 , wherein the performance data comprises one of: a heart rate, a pulse rate, a level of blood pressure, a level of blood oxygen, a distance travelled, and calorie expenditure.

13. The method of claim 10 , further comprising:

modifying, based on the performance data, one or more workout parameters for an activity to be performed by the user.

14. The method of claim 13 , further comprising:

sending, to the training device and based on the one or more workout parameters, a second set of data for controlling one or more settings of the training device.

15. The method of claim 10 , further comprising:

determining, by one or more sensors of the wearable computing device, athletic activity data for the user; and

sending, from the one or more sensors and to the training device, the athletic activity data.

16. A wearable device comprising:

a display device;

one or more sensors for measuring athletic activity of a user;

memory storing computer readable instructions that, when executed, cause the wearable device to:

transmit, to a training device, a first set of data for controlling one or more settings of the training device;

receive, from the training device, performance data corresponding to one or more activities performed by the user; and

output for display, via the display device, the performance data.

17. The wearable device of claim 16 , wherein the one or more settings include one of: a weight setting, a resistance setting, an incline setting, a target distance setting, a duration setting, a target calorie setting, a speed setting, and a target physiological characteristic setting.

18. The wearable device of claim 16 , wherein the performance data comprises one of: a heart rate, a pulse rate, a level of blood pressure, a level of blood oxygen, a distance travelled, and calorie expenditure.

19. The wearable device of claim 16 , wherein the computer readable instructions, when executed, further cause the wearable device to:

modify, based on the performance data, one or more workout parameters for an athletic activity to be performed by the user.

20. The wearable device of claim 19 , wherein the computer readable instructions, when executed, further cause the wearable device to:

sending, to the training device and based on the one or more workout parameters, a second set of data for controlling one or more settings of the training device.
