Abstract

An optic guard for a firearm may include: a frame; and a bracket having a first side to attach to a firearm assembly, the bracket integrally formed with the frame or fixably attached to the frame at a second side of the bracket. The frame may be arranged to protect a top and sides of the optic when the first side of the bracket is attached to the firearm assembly. In some embodiments, the second side of the bracket defines an optic attachment, wherein the frame protects the top and sides of the optic when the optic is coupled to the bracket using the optic attachment. In some embodiments, the first side of the bracket may define a protrusion or opening to mate with an opening or protrusion in front of an optic mounting platform.

11. The firearm of claim 10 , wherein the firearm comprises a rifle.

12. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein an area of a front end of the upper section includes both: one or more first subareas and one or more second subareas that are different than the one or more first subareas, wherein the one or more first subareas include at least one surface feature configured to denote, to an operator, operability of the one or more first subareas as a grip, and the one or more second subareas do not include said at least one surface feature.

13. An optic assembly usable in a firearm assembly, the optic assembly comprising:

a lower section configured to attach to the firearm assembly; and

an upper section including a light-transmissive element and a support section, at least a portion of the support section at least partially surrounding the light-transmissive element;

the upper section configured to expose an area of a frontmost surface of the light-transmissive element, and further including an additional section located forwardly of the support section, at least a portion of the additional section aligned with the at least partially surrounding portion of the support section;

wherein the additional section includes a height and a width and the exposed area includes a height and a width, and the width of the additional section is not less than the width of the exposed area.

14. The optic assembly of claim 13 , wherein the at least partially surrounding portion of the support section includes a lateral subsection over the light-transmissive element; and

the at least the portion of the additional section including a lateral subsection aligned with the lateral subsection of the at least partially surrounding portion of the support section.
