Abstract

Athletic performance monitoring and tracking may provide multiple ways in which to track athletic movement and activity. Workouts may also be tagged with various parameters including mood, weather, terrain, athletic equipment, friends used and the like. Workout information may be shared to social messaging and networking outlets. Workout information shared may include map information including images of maps, interactive maps, links to maps, route information and the like and/or combinations thereof. Additionally or alternatively, an application may be configured to execute within a context of a social networking system to facilitate athletic activity data transfer and generation of workout entries in the social networking site. Recommended activities to be performed or a recommended time to perform an activity may be determined based on a user's schedule, weather or conditions forecasts, or a location of the user or the potential activity.

Claims (37)

1 . An apparatus comprising:

a processor; and

memory storing computer readable instructions that, when executed, cause the apparatus to:

receive workout information from a user friend associated with a select group of friends sharing workout information with the select group, wherein the select group includes a user and the user friend, and wherein the workout information includes location information;

determine a location of the user;

determine a schedule of the user;

determine a recommended activity window for the user based upon the received workout information and the determined schedule of the user;

determine, based on a first maximum allowable travel time, a first travel distance associated with a first activity;

identify a first location for the first activity, wherein the first location is within the first travel distance from the determined location of the user, and wherein the first location is selected based on the location of the user;

identify a second location for the first activity, wherein the second location is within the first travel distance from the determined location of the user;

automatically generate for display, on a user interface of the apparatus, a notification notifying the user to perform the first activity at one of the first location or the second location; and

upon receiving a user selection to begin the first activity, record workout data of the first activity; and

upon receiving a user selection to end the first activity, automatically share the workout data of the first activity with the select group of friends and update the user interface to display a metric associated with the first activity.

2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:

automatically send a notification to the user indicating the recommended activity window, based on user input of conditions favored for activity.

3 . The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:

input the recommended activity window into a calendar of the user.

4 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the schedule of the user is determined from a calendar.

5 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first activity is a group workout.

6 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the location of the first activity is selected based upon locations where the user has had past activity.

7 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein determining the schedule of the user comprises:

determining a plurality of past activities performed by the user; and

predicting a schedule of the user based at least in part on the plurality of past activities performed by the user.

8 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein determining the plurality of past activities performed by the user further comprises monitoring the user's performance of the plurality of past activities during a predetermined calibration period.

9 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein determining the plurality of past activities performed by the user further comprises:

accessing content of the user in a social network; and

determining the plurality of past activities based on the content of the user in the social network.

10 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:

determine at least one window when the user should not perform a selected activity; and

notify the user to not perform a selected activity during the at least one window.

11 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein each of the recommended activity window includes a travel time for the user to travel from the location of the user to a location of the first activity.

12 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:

determine an intermediate destination, wherein the intermediate destination is a destination to which the user will travel before traveling to the location of the first activity; and

determine the travel time based in part on the determined intermediate destination.

13 . The apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the determined intermediate destination is based on the determined location of the user.

14 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first travel distance is configured by the user.

15 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first activity is assigned a ranking by the user.
