Abstract

In various embodiments, an entity may provide a WebView where a transaction between an entity and a data subject may be performed. As described herein, the transaction may involve the collection or processing of personal data associated with the data subject by the entity as part of a processing activity undertaken by the entity that the data subject is consenting to as part of the transaction. Additionally, the entity may provide a native application where the transactions between the entity and a data subject may be performed. In some embodiments, the system may be configured to share consent data between the WebView and the native application so data subjects experience a seamless transition while using either the WebView or the native application, and the data subjects are not required to go through a consent workflow for each of the WebView and the native application.

Claims (17)

1. A method comprising:

receiving, from a data subject, by computing hardware via a WebView, data subject consent data for a cookie, wherein the WebView is configured to display web content within a native application;

storing, by the computing hardware, the cookie in a storage location accessible by the WebView;

executing, by the computing hardware via a software development kit (“SDK”) associated with the native application, a script to return a value associated with the cookie from the storage location to a native portion of code associated with the native application;

receiving, by the computing hardware and from the data subject, a request provided within the native application to perform an action requiring consent for particular data processing;

determining, by the computing hardware and based on the value, that the data subject has previously provided the consent for the particular data processing via the WebView; and

in response to determining that the data subject has previously provided the consent, causing performance of the action within the native application.

2. The method of claim 1 , the method comprising:

receiving, at the native application, a request to launch the WebView; and

in response to receiving the request to launch the WebView, launching, by the computing hardware, the WebView.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein:

launching the WebView comprises directing the WebView to load a particular domain; and

setting the cookie for the particular domain.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein causing the performance of the action occurs without prompting the data subject to provide additional consent within the native application.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the storage location comprises at least one of:

one or more storage locations local to a computing device running the native application; or

one or more remote servers.
