Abstract

The present invention provides isolated proteins isolatable from a Pasteurella spp. such as P. multocida . Also provided by the present invention are compositions that include one or more of the proteins, and methods for making and methods for using the proteins.

Claims (22)

1. A composition comprising:

(i) an isolated protein having at least 90% similarity to amino acids 25-968 of SEQ ID NO:2, an isolated protein having at least 90% similarity to amino acids 27-790 of SEQ ID NO:4, and an isolated protein having at least 90% similarity to amino acids 23-727 of SEQ ID NO:6 or

(ii) an isolated protein having at least 90% similarity to amino acids 25-964 of SEQ ID NO:8, an isolated protein having at least 90% similarity to amino acids 26-848 of SEQ ID NO:10, an isolated protein having at least 90% similarity to amino acids 27-784 of SEQ ID NO:12, and an isolated protein having at least 90% similarity to amino acids 25-742 of SEQ ID NO:14;

a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier; and

an adjuvant.

2. A composition comprising an isolated protein having at least 90% similarity to amino acids 26-805 of SEQ ID NO:44.

3. The composition of claim 1 further comprising:

at least one isolated protein having a molecular weight of 249 kDa, 60 kDa, 42 kDa, 38 kDa, 27 kDa, 26 kDa, or 22 kDa, wherein the proteins are isolatable from the P. multocida.

4. A composition comprising:

(i) an isolated whole cell that is engineered to express at least seven proteins, wherein the seven proteins comprise a protein having at least 90% amino acid sequence identity to amino acids 25-968 of SEQ ID NO:2, a protein having at least 90% amino acid sequence identity to amino acids 27-790 of SEQ ID NO:4, a protein having at least 90% amino acid sequence identity to amino acids 23-727 of SEQ ID NO:6, a protein having at least 90% amino acid sequence identity to amino acids 25-964 of SEQ ID NO:8, a protein having at least 90% amino acid sequence identity to amino acids 26-848 of SEQ ID NO:10, a protein having at least 90% amino acid sequence identity to amino acids 27-784 of SEQ ID NO:12, and a protein having at least 90% amino acid sequence identity to amino acids 25-742 of SEQ ID NO:14, or

(ii) two or more populations of microbes wherein each of the population expresses a subset of the seven proteins listed in (i), and the two or more populations when considered as a whole express the seven proteins.

5. The composition of claim 4 wherein the cell is E. coli.

6. The composition of claim 4 further comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

7. The composition of claim 6 further comprising an adjuvant.

The composition of claim 4 wherein the two or more populations of microbes comprise a first population and a second population, wherein the first population comprises an isolated whole cell that is engineered to express a protein having at least 90% amino acid sequence identity to amino acids 25-968 of SEQ ID NO:2, a protein having at least 90% amino acid sequence identity to amino acids 27-790 of SEQ ID NO:4, and a protein having at least 90% amino acid sequence identity to amino acids 23-727 of SEQ ID NO:6; and wherein the second population comprises an isolated whole cell that is engineered to express a protein having at least 90% amino acid sequence identity to amino acids 25-964 of SEQ ID NO:8, a protein having at least 90% amino acid sequence identity to amino acids 26-848 of SEQ ID NO:10, a protein having at least 90% amino acid sequence identity to amino acids 27-784 of SEQ ID NO:12, and a protein having at least 90% amino acid sequence identity to amino acids 25-742 of SEQ ID NO:14.

9. The composition of claim 4 , wherein the isolated cell or the two populations of microbes are engineered to further express 80% amino acid sequence identity to amino acids 26-805 of SEQ ID NO:44.

10. The composition of claim 1 further comprising an isolated protein having at least 90% similarity to amino acids 26-805 of SEQ ID NO:44.

11. The composition of claim 1 comprising:

(i) an isolated protein having at least 90% similarity to amino acids 25-968 of SEQ ID NO:2, an isolated protein having at least 90% similarity to amino acids 27-790 of SEQ ID NO:4, and an isolated protein having at least 90% similarity to amino acids 23-727 of SEQ ID NO:6, and

(ii) an isolated protein having at least 90% similarity to amino acids 25-964 of SEQ ID NO:8, an isolated protein having at least 90% similarity to amino acids 26-848 of SEQ ID NO:10, an isolated protein having at least 90% similarity to amino acids 27-784 of SEQ ID NO:12, and an isolated protein having at least 90% similarity to amino acids 25-742 of SEQ ID NO:14;

a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier; and

an adjuvant.
