BUSINESS OPERATION FUNCTION EVALUATION OF A SYSTEM OR PORTION THEREOF
A method includes determining, by an analysis system, a system sector of a system for function evaluation. The method further includes determining, by the analysis system, at least one evaluation perspective for use in performing the function evaluation on the system sector. The method further includes determining, by the analysis system, at least one evaluation viewpoint for use in performing the function evaluation on the system sector. The method further includes obtaining, by the analysis system, function data regarding the system sector in accordance with the at least one evaluation perspective and the at least one evaluation viewpoint. The method further includes calculating, by the analysis system, a function evaluation rating as a measure of function maturity for the system sector based on the function data, the at least one evaluation perspective, the at least one evaluation viewpoint, and at least one evaluation rating metric.
1 . A method comprises:
determining, by an analysis system that includes one or more computing entities, a system sector of a system for an evaluation with respect to adequacy of business operation functions of the system sector;
determining, by the analysis system, at least one evaluation perspective for use in performing the evaluation on the system sector;
determining, by the analysis system, at least one evaluation viewpoint for use in performing the evaluation on the system sector;
obtaining, by the analysis system, business operation function data of the system sector in accordance with the at least one evaluation perspective and the at least one evaluation viewpoint; and
calculating, by the analysis system, a business operation functions evaluation rating as a measure of the adequacy of the business operation functions of the system sector based on the business operation function data, the at least one evaluation perspective, the at least one evaluation viewpoint, and at least one evaluation rating metric.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the evaluation comprises at least one of:
evaluation of adequacy of implementation of the business operation functions; and
evaluation of adequacy of execution of the business operation functions.
3 . The method of claim 1 further comprises:
receiving, by the analysis system, an input, wherein the input identifies at least one of:
the system sector;
the at least one evaluation perspective; and
the at least one evaluation viewpoint.
4 . The method of claim 1 further comprises:
determining, by the analysis system, a system criteria from a plurality of system criteria, wherein the plurality of system criteria includes two or more of guidelines, system requirements, system design, system build, and resulting system;
obtaining, by the analysis system, the business operation functions data specific for the system criteria; and
calculating, by the analysis system, the evaluation rating specific to the adequacy of the business operation functions with respect to the system criteria.
5 . The method of claim 1 further comprises:
obtaining, by the analysis system, business operation functions of the system;
determining, by the analysis system, a set of the business operation functions of the system relevant to the system sector based on a system element identifier associated with the system sector; and
establishing, by the analysis system, the business operation functions of the system sector based on the set of business operation functions.
6 . The method of claim 1 further comprises:
determining, by the analysis system, a maturity level of the business operation functions; and
calculating, by the analysis system, the evaluation rating further based on the maturity level of the business operation functions.
7 . The method of claim 1 further comprises:
an evaluation perspective of the at least one evaluation perspective being an understanding perspective, an implementation perspective, a performance perspective, or a self-analysis perspective.
8 . The method of claim 1 further comprises:
an evaluation viewpoint of the at least one evaluation viewpoint being a disclosed viewpoint, a discovered viewpoint, or a desired viewpoint.
9 . The method of claim 1 further comprises:
an evaluation rating metric of the at least one evaluation rating metric being a process rating metric, a policy rating metric, a procedure rating metric, a certification rating, a documentation rating metric, or an automation rating metric.
10 . A method comprises:
determining, by an analysis system that includes one or more computing entities, a system sector of a system for an evaluation with respect to adequacy of business operation functions of the system sector;
selecting, by the analysis system, one or more analysis functions from a plurality of analysis functions in accordance with the evaluation;
determining, by the analysis system, data gathering parameters in accordance with the evaluation and with the one or more analysis functions;
obtaining, by the analysis system, business operation function data of the system sector in accordance with the data gathering parameters; and
calculating, by the analysis system, an evaluation rating as a measure of the adequacy of the business operation functions of the system sector based on the business operation function data and the one or more analysis functions.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the evaluation comprises at least one of:
evaluation of adequacy of implementation of the business operation functions; and
evaluation of adequacy of execution of the business operation functions.
12 . The method of claim 10 , wherein an analysis function of the plurality of analysis functions comprises one or more of:
a category;
a sub-category of the category;
a sub-sub-category of the sub-category; and
an evaluation metric.
13 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the analysis function of the plurality of analysis functions further comprises one or more of:
a system criteria;
an evaluation perspective; and
an evaluation viewpoint.
14 . The method of claim 10 further comprises:
receiving, by the analysis system, an input, wherein the input identifies at least one of:
the system sector; and
the one or more analysis functions.
15 . The method of claim 10 further comprises:
obtaining, by the analysis system, business operation functions of the system;
determining, by the analysis system, a set of the business operation functions of the system relevant to the system sector based on a system element identifier associated with the system sector; and
establishing, by the analysis system, the business operation functions of the system sector based on the set of business operations.
16 . The method of claim 10 further comprises:
determining, by the analysis system, a maturity level of the business operation objectives; and
calculating, by the analysis system, the evaluation rating further based on the maturity level of the business operation objectives.
17 . A computer readable memory comprises:
a first memory section operable to store operational instructions that, when executed by an analysis system that includes one or more computing entities, causes the analysis system to:
determine a system sector of a system for an evaluation with respect to adequacy of business operation functions of the system sector;
determine at least one evaluation perspective for use in performing the evaluation on the system sector;
determine at least one evaluation viewpoint for use in performing the evaluation on the system sector;
a second memory section operable to store operational instructions that, when executed by the analysis system, causes the analysis system to:
obtain business operation function data of the system sector in accordance with the at least one evaluation perspective and the at least one evaluation viewpoint; and
a third memory section operable to store operational instructions that, when executed by the analysis system, causes the analysis system to:
calculate a business operation functions evaluation rating as a measure of the adequacy of the business operation functions of the system sector based on the business operation function data, the at least one evaluation perspective, the at least one evaluation viewpoint, and at least one evaluation rating metric.
18 . The computer readable memory of claim 17 , wherein the evaluation comprises at least one of:
evaluation of adequacy of implementation of the business operation functions; and
evaluation of adequacy of execution of the business operation functions.
19 . The computer readable memory of claim 17 , wherein the first memory section is further operable to store operational instructions that, when executed by the analysis system, causes the analysis system to:
receive an input, wherein the input identifies at least one of:
the system sector;
the at least one evaluation perspective; and
the at least one evaluation viewpoint.
20 . The computer readable memory of claim 17 further comprises:
the first memory section is further operable to store operational instructions that, when executed by the analysis system, causes the analysis system to:
determine a system criteria from a plurality of system criteria, wherein the plurality of system criteria includes two or more of guidelines, system requirements, system design, system build, and resulting system;
the second memory section is further operable to store operational instructions that, when executed by the analysis system, causes the analysis system to:
obtain the business operation functions data specific for the system criteria; and
the third memory section is further operable to store operational instructions that, when executed by the analysis system, causes the analysis system to:
calculate the evaluation rating specific to the adequacy of the business operation functions with respect to the system criteria.
21 . The computer readable memory of claim 17 , wherein the first memory section is further operable to store operational instructions that, when executed by the analysis system, causes the analysis system to:
obtain business operation functions of the system;
determine a set of the business operation functions of the system relevant to the system sector based on a system element identifier associated with the system sector; and
establish the business operation functions of the system sector based on the set of business operation functions.
22 . The computer readable memory of claim 17 , wherein the third memory section is further operable to store operational instructions that, when executed by the analysis system, causes the analysis system to:
determine a maturity level of the business operation functions; and
calculate the evaluation rating further based on the maturity level of the business operation functions.
23 . The computer readable memory of claim 17 further comprises:
an evaluation perspective of the at least one evaluation perspective being an understanding perspective, an implementation perspective, a performance perspective, or a self-analysis perspective.
24 . The computer readable memory of claim 17 further comprises:
an evaluation viewpoint of the at least one evaluation viewpoint being a disclosed viewpoint, a discovered viewpoint, or a desired viewpoint.
25 . The computer readable memory of claim 17 further comprises:
an evaluation rating metric of the at least one evaluation rating metric being a process rating metric, a policy rating metric, a procedure rating metric, a certification rating, a documentation rating metric, or an automation rating metric.
26 . A computer readable memory comprises:
a first memory section operable to store operational instructions that, when executed by an analysis system that includes one or more computing entities, causes the analysis system to:
determine a system sector of a system for an evaluation with respect to adequacy of business operation functions of the system sector;
select one or more analysis functions from a plurality of analysis functions in accordance with the evaluation;
determine data gathering parameters in accordance with the evaluation and with the one or more analysis functions;
a second memory section operable to store operational instructions that, when executed by the analysis system, causes the analysis system to:
obtain business operation function data of the system sector in accordance with the at least one evaluation perspective and the at least one evaluation viewpoint; and
a third memory section operable to store operational instructions that, when executed by the analysis system, causes the analysis system to:
calculate an evaluation rating as a measure of the adequacy of the business operation functions of the system sector based on the business operation function data and the one or more analysis functions.
27 . The computer readable memory of claim 26 , wherein the evaluation comprises at least one of:
evaluation of adequacy of implementation of the business operation functions; and
evaluation of adequacy of execution of the business operation functions.
28 . The computer readable memory of claim 26 , wherein an analysis function of the plurality of analysis functions comprises one or more of:
a category;
a sub-category of the category;
a sub-sub-category of the sub-category; and
an evaluation metric.
29 . The computer readable memory of claim 26 , wherein the analysis function of the plurality of analysis functions further comprises one or more of:
a system criteria;
an evaluation perspective; and
an evaluation viewpoint.
30 . The computer readable memory of claim 26 , wherein the first memory section is further operable to store operational instructions that, when executed by the analysis system, causes the analysis system to:
receive an input, wherein the input identifies at least one of:
the system sector; and
the one or more analysis functions.
31 . The computer readable memory of claim 26 , wherein the first memory section is further operable to store operational instructions that, when executed by the analysis system, causes the analysis system to:
obtain business operation functions of the system;
determine a set of the business operation functions of the system relevant to the system sector based on a system element identifier associated with the system sector; and
establish the business operation functions of the system sector based on the set of business operations.
32 . The computer readable memory of claim 26 , wherein the third memory section is further operable to store operational instructions that, when executed by the analysis system, causes the analysis system to:
determine a maturity level of the business operation objectives; and
calculate the evaluation rating further based on the maturity level of the business operation objectives.
