MULTI-FACTOR SECURITY SYSTEM FOR AN ELECTRIC BICYCLE
Various embodiments provide for a bike-supported communication network that manages and facilitates communications between components of an electric bicycle and a wireless network. In some embodiments, the systems and methods perform security actions for electric bicycle in response to potential theft or tampering events at the electric bicycle. The systems and methods can select actions to perform based on information from multiple different sensors, from polling sensors or components of the bicycle for information, based on a context of the event, and so on.
1 . A method for performing an action associated with an electric bicycle, the method comprising:
receiving an alert from a sensor of the electric bicycle;
polling one or more additional sensors of the electric bicycle to provide information about the electric bicycle; and
determining a security action to perform for the electric bicycle that is based on the information received from the polled one or more additional sensors.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving an alert from a sensor of the electric bicycle includes receiving an alert from a tamper sensor of the electric bicycle.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving an alert from a sensor of the electric bicycle includes receiving an alert from a movement sensor of the electric bicycle.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein polling one or more additional sensors of the electric bicycle to provide information about the electric bicycle include polling a controller of the electric bicycle to provide status information associated with a current operation of the electric bicycle.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein polling one or more additional sensors of the electric bicycle to provide information about the electric bicycle include polling a location sensor of the electric bicycle to provide a current location of the electric bicycle.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein polling one or more additional sensors of the electric bicycle to provide information about the electric bicycle include polling a movement sensor of the electric bicycle to provide information identifying a current operation status of the electric bicycle.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining a security action to perform for the electric bicycle includes sending a notification to a mobile device associated with the electric bicycle.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining a security action to perform for the electric bicycle includes performing an alarm at the electric bicycle.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining a security action to perform for the electric bicycle includes causing a controller of the electric bicycle to disable operation of an electric motor of the electric bicycle.
10 . A non-transitory, computer readable medium whose contents, when executed by a computing system of the electric bicycle, cause the computing system to perform a method for performing an action associated with an electric bicycle, the method comprising:
receiving a notification from a sensor of the electric bicycle;
polling one or more additional sensors of the electric bicycle to provide information about a current status of operation of the electric bicycle; and
determining a security action to perform for the electric bicycle that is based on the information received from the polled one or more additional sensors.
11 . The non-transitory, computer readable medium of claim 10 , wherein receiving a notification from a sensor of the electric bicycle includes receiving an alert from a tamper sensor of the electric bicycle that a lock assembly of the electric bicycle has been damaged.
12 . The non-transitory, computer readable medium of claim 10 , wherein receiving a notification from a sensor of the electric bicycle includes receiving an alert from a movement sensor of the electric bicycle that detects an abnormal movement of a rear wheel of the electric bicycle.
13 . The non-transitory, computer readable medium of claim 10 , wherein polling one or more additional sensors of the electric bicycle to provide information about the electric bicycle include polling a controller of the electric bicycle to provide status information associated with a current operation of the electric bicycle.
14 . The non-transitory, computer readable medium of claim 10 , wherein polling one or more additional sensors of the electric bicycle to provide information about the electric bicycle include polling a location sensor of the electric bicycle to provide a current location of the electric bicycle.
15 . The non-transitory, computer readable medium of claim 10 , wherein polling one or more additional sensors of the electric bicycle to provide information about the electric bicycle include polling a movement sensor of the electric bicycle to provide information identifying a current speed of the electric bicycle.
16 . The non-transitory, computer readable medium of claim 10 , wherein determining a security action to perform for the electric bicycle includes sending a notification to a mobile device associated with the electric bicycle.
17 . The non-transitory, computer readable medium of claim 10 , wherein determining a security action to perform for the electric bicycle includes performing an alarm at the electric bicycle.
18 . The non-transitory, computer readable medium of claim 10 , wherein determining a security action to perform for the electric bicycle includes causing a controller of the electric bicycle to disable operation of an electric motor of the electric bicycle.
19 . A system that performs security actions for an electric bicycle, the system comprising:
receiving an alert from a sensor of the electric bicycle that indicates a possible theft event at the electric bicycle;
identifying context information associated with the possible theft event at the electric bicycle; and
determining a security action to perform based on the alert and based on the identified context information.
20 . The system of claim 19 , wherein the context information identifies a history of similar theft events to the possible theft event at a geographical location that includes the electric bicycle; and
wherein the security action includes disabling operation of the electric bicycle in response to the received alert and the identified context information.
