Abstract

This application discloses a server to transmit an embedded application to a remote gateway device. The embedded application, when executed, prompts the remote gateway device to generate application messages including information associated with the execution of the embedded application by the remote gateway device. The server is configured to track the execution of the embedded application in the remote gateway device to determine operational states of the embedded application based, at least in part, on the application messages received from the remote gateway device. The server is configured to generate a parameter message for transmission to the remote gateway device based, at least in part, on the operational states of the embedded application deployed in the remote gateway device. The parameter message is configured to prompt the remote gateway device to transmit an application parameter associated with the execution of the embedded application.

Claims (34)

1. A method comprising:

transmitting, by a server including a computing system, an embedded application to a remote gateway device, wherein the embedded application, when executed by the remote gateway device, prompts the remote gateway device to generate application messages including information associated with the execution of the embedded application by the remote gateway device;

tracking, by the server, the execution of the embedded application in the remote gateway device to determine operational states of the embedded application based, at least in part, on the application messages received from the remote gateway device;

utilizing, by the server, the operational states of the embedded application deployed in the remote gateway device to identify an application parameter associated with the execution of the embedded application for the remote gateway device to export; and

generating, by the server, a parameter message for transmission to the remote gateway device based, at least in part, on the identification of the application parameter for the remote gateway device to export, wherein the remote gateway device, in response to the parameter message, transmits the application parameter associated with the execution of the embedded application.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising developing, by the server, a model of the embedded application deployed in the remote gateway device that mimics the operational states of the embedded application deployed in the remote gateway device.

3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising updating, by the server, the model of the embedded application deployed in the remote gateway device with the application parameter in the parameter message received by the server.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting, by the server, the application parameter to a different remote gateway device.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the parameter message includes a parameter value for the remote gateway device to utilize during the execution of the embedded application.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the remote gateway device transmits the application parameter to a different remote gateway device based on the parameter message.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein transmitting the embedded application to the remote gateway device further comprises transmitting a deployment configuration for the embedded application to the remote gateway device, wherein the remote gateway device downloads an embedded application image corresponding to the embedded application from the server based on the deployment configuration for the embedded application, and wherein the remote gateway device include one or more processing devices implementing a Docker engine to execute the embedded application image corresponding to the embedded application.

8. An apparatus comprising at least one memory device storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processing devices, cause the one or more processing devices to perform operations comprising:

transmitting an embedded application to a remote gateway device, wherein the embedded application, when executed by the remote gateway device, prompts the remote gateway device to generate application messages including information associated with the execution of the embedded application by the remote gateway device;

tracking the execution of the embedded application in the remote gateway device to determine operational states of the embedded application based, at least in part, on the application messages received from the remote gateway device;

utilizing the operational states of the embedded application deployed in the remote gateway device to identify an application parameter associated with the execution of the embedded application for the remote gateway device to export; and

generating a parameter message for transmission to the remote gateway device based, at least in part, on the identification of the application parameter for the remote gateway device to export, wherein the remote gateway device, in response to the parameter message, transmits the application parameter associated with the execution of the embedded application.

9. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processing devices, further cause the one or more processing devices to perform operations comprising developing a model of the embedded application deployed in the remote gateway device that mimics the operational states of the embedded application deployed in the remote gateway device.

10. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processing devices, further cause the one or more processing devices to perform operations comprising updating the model of the embedded application deployed in the remote gateway device with the application parameter in the parameter message received by the server.

11. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processing devices, further cause the one or more processing devices to perform operations comprising transmitting the application parameter to a different remote gateway device.

12. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the parameter message includes a parameter value for the remote gateway device to utilize during the execution of the embedded application.

13. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the remote gateway device transmits the application parameter to a different remote gateway device based on the parameter message.

14. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein transmitting the embedded application to the remote gateway device further comprises transmitting a deployment configuration for the embedded application to the remote gateway device, wherein the remote gateway device downloads an embedded application image corresponding to the embedded application from the server based on the deployment configuration for the embedded application, and wherein the remote gateway device include one or more processing devices implementing a Docker engine to execute the embedded application image corresponding to the embedded application.

15. A system comprising:

a memory device configured to store machine-readable instructions; and

a computing system including one or more processing devices, in response to executing the machine-readable instructions, to:

transmit an embedded application to a remote gateway device, wherein the embedded application, when executed by the remote gateway device, prompts the remote gateway device to generate application messages including information associated with the execution of the embedded application by the remote gateway device;

track the execution of the embedded application in the remote gateway device to determine operational states of the embedded application based, at least in part, on the application messages received from the remote gateway device;

utilize the operational states of the embedded application deployed in the remote gateway device to identify an application parameter associated with the execution of the embedded application for the remote gateway device to export; and

generate a parameter message for transmission to the remote gateway device based, at least in part, on the identification of the application parameter for the remote gateway device to export, wherein the remote gateway device, in response to the parameter message, transmits the application parameter associated with the execution of the embedded application.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the one or more processing devices, in response to executing the machine-readable instructions, to develop a model of the embedded application deployed in the remote gateway device that mimics the operational states of the embedded application deployed in the remote gateway device.

17. The system of claim 16 , wherein the one or more processing devices, in response to executing the machine-readable instructions, to update the model of the embedded application deployed in the remote gateway device with the application parameter in the parameter message received by the server.

18. The system of claim 15 , wherein the one or more processing devices, in response to executing the machine-readable instructions, to transmit the application parameter to a different remote gateway device.
