Abstract

Pest-management apparatuses (e.g., stations), such as, for example, that can be configured to permit a rodent to enter and retrieve a bait and/or become trapped (e.g., via adhesive or a snap-trap).

Claims (34)

1. A pest-management apparatus comprising: a body having a bottom surface, a top surface opposite the bottom surface, and a sidewall extending between the top and bottom surface, the body defining: a chamber; and a first entrance opening at a first side of the sidewall and sized to permit a rodent to enter the body; a separator disposed within the chamber such that the separator extends between first and second portions of the sidewall to define an entrance portion and a capture portion of the chamber; and a divider disposed within the entrance portion of the chamber to prevent the rodent from traversing an entirety of the entrance portion; where: the body includes a protrusion extending from a first end to a second end, the first end extending from the first side of the sidewall spaced from an edge of the first entrance opening; the protrusion extending from the first end to the second end in a direction that is away from the chamber; and a trap is configured to be disposed in the capture portion of the chamber such that when a rodent is diverted to the capture portion via the divider, the rodent engages the trap; where the protrusion extend along substantially an entire height of the sidewall.

2. The pest-management apparatus of claim 1 , where:

the first end of the protrusion is disposed between the first entrance opening and a second side of the sidewall;

the body comprises:

a base that includes the bottom surface; and

a lid that includes the top surface.

3. The pest-management apparatus of claim 2 , where the separator and the lid define a gap that is sized to permit the rodent to climb over a majority of a length of the separator.

4. The pest-management apparatus of claim 2 , where the second end of the protrusion extends away from the first entrance opening such that the protrusion discourages a rodent from traveling in at least one non-vertical direction away from the first entrance opening.

5. The pest-management apparatus of claim 4 , where the separator contacts the base.

6. The pest-management apparatus of claim 1 , where:

the first portion of the sidewall is opposite the second portion of the sidewall; and

the separator extends from the first portion of the sidewall to the second portion of the sidewall.

7. The pest-management apparatus of claim 1 , where separator or the divider are releasably coupled to the body.

8. The pest-management apparatus of claim 1 , where the trap includes adhesive or a snap-trap.

9. The pest-management apparatus of claim 1 , where the protrusion does not define the first entrance opening.

10. The pest-management apparatus of claim 1 , where:

the sidewall includes the first side, a second side, a third side, and a fourth side;

the body defines a second entrance opening positioned on the third side of the sidewall that is opposite the first side.

11. The pest-management apparatus of claim 10 , where the body comprises a second protrusion having a first end disposed on the third side of the sidewall adjacent to an edge of the second entrance opening and extending outwardly relative to the chamber in a direction away from the chamber, the second protrusion configured to discourage a rodent from traveling in at least one non-vertical direction away from the second entrance opening.

12. The pest-management apparatus of claim 11 , where a surface of the second protrusion extends from the sidewall of the body at a non-parallel angle and the second entrance opening is disposed between the second protrusion and the separator.

13. The pest-management apparatus of claim 1 , where the entrance portion and the capture portion cooperate to define an entirety of the chamber.

14. A pest-management apparatus comprising:

a body having a bottom surface, a top surface opposite the bottom surface, and a sidewall extending between the top and bottom surface, the body defining:

a chamber; and

a first entrance opening sized to permit a rodent to enter the body;

a separator configured to be disposed within the chamber such that the separator extends between opposing portions of the sidewall to define first portion and a second portion of the chamber; and

a divider configured to be positioned adjacent to the separator to prevent the rodent from traversing an entirety of the first portion;

where an upper surface of the separator is spaced from the top surface of the body by a distance that is sized to permit the rodent to climb over the separator and into the second portion.

15. The pest-management apparatus of claim 14 , where a trap is configured to be disposed in the second portion to capture the rodent.

16. The pest-management apparatus of claim 15 , where the trap comprises an adhesive.

17. The pest-management apparatus of claim 14 , where the divider extends substantially perpendicular to the separator.

18. The pest-management apparatus of claim 14 , further comprising a second entrance opening, where the first and second entrance openings are aligned on opposing sides of the first portion.

19. The pest-management apparatus of claim 14 , where the body comprises a protrusion extending from the sidewall at a non-parallel angle, the protrusion extending from a portion of the sidewall that is adjacent to the first entrance opening.

20. The pest-management apparatus of claim 19 , where the first entrance opening is disposed between the protrusion and the separator.
