Abstract

A filling aid device for filling a reservoir. The device includes a cover portion comprising a septum window; a slider beam comprising a septum cover; and a first filling aid tab attached to the slider beam, the first filling aid tab in slidable relation to the cover from a first position to a second position, wherein when the filling aid device is in an unlocked position, the septum cover is located below the septum window, wherein when the first filling aid tab is moved from the first position to the second position, the septum cover is moved from below the septum window, and the filling aid device is in the locked position.

Claims (66)

1. A method for filling and priming a disposable housing assembly, the method comprising:

providing a filling aid device attached to the disposable housing assembly, the filling aid device having a locked, an unlocked and a priming configuration;

rotating the filling aid device into an unlocked configuration;

filling the disposable housing assembly;

actuating the filling aid device wherein the filling aid device is in the priming configuration;

priming the disposable housing assembly;

providing the disposable housing assembly with a reservoir and a fluid path fluidly connected to the reservoir; and

wherein priming the disposable housing assembly comprises flowing fluid through the fluid path.

2. A method for filling and priming a disposable housing assembly, the method comprising:

providing a filling aid device attached to the disposable housing assembly, the filling aid device having a locked, an unlocked and a priming configuration;

rotating the filling aid device into an unlocked configuration;

filling the disposable housing assembly;

actuating the filling aid device wherein the filling aid device is in the priming configuration;

priming the disposable housing assembly;

providing the disposable housing assembly with a pump chamber;

providing the filling aid device with a pump chamber plunger; and

wherein priming the disposable housing assembly comprises the steps of actuating the pump chamber plunger to open and close the pump chamber.

3. A method for filling and priming a disposable housing assembly, the method comprising:

providing a filling aid device attached to the disposable housing assembly, the filling aid device having a locked, an unlocked and a priming configuration;

rotating the filling aid device into an unlocked configuration;

filling the disposable housing assembly;

actuating the filling aid device wherein the filling aid device is in the priming configuration;

priming the disposable housing assembly; and

after priming, releasably engaging the disposable housing assembly to a reusable housing assembly.

4. The method of claim 3 , further comprising:

after releasably engaging the disposable housing assembly to the reusable housing assembly, releasing the disposable housing assembly from the reusable housing assembly.

5. A method for filling and priming a disposable housing assembly, the method comprising:

providing a filling aid device attached to the disposable housing assembly, the filling aid device having a locked, an unlocked and a priming configuration;

rotating the filling aid device into an unlocked configuration;

filling the disposable housing assembly;

actuating the filling aid device wherein the filling aid device is in the priming configuration;

priming the disposable housing assembly;

providing a septum window in the filling device and a septum in the disposable housing assembly;

the step of filling comprises;

inserting a needle through the septum window; and

transferring fluid through the needle into the disposable housing assembly.

6. A method for filling and priming a disposable housing assembly, the method comprising:

providing a filling aid device attached to the disposable housing assembly, the filling aid device having a locked, an unlocked and a priming configuration;

rotating the filling aid device into an unlocked configuration;

filling the disposable housing assembly;

actuating the filling aid device wherein the filling aid device is in the priming configuration; and

priming the disposable housing assembly, wherein the filling aid device has a cover portion and a bottom portion, and wherein the step of rotating the filling aid device comprises rotating the cover portion relative to the bottom portion.

7. A method for filling and priming a disposable housing assembly having a septum, the method comprising:

providing a filling aid device attached to the disposable housing assembly, the filling aid device having a locked configuration wherein access to the septum is obscured, an unlocked configuration wherein the septum is accessible, and a priming configuration;

releasably attaching the filling aid device to the disposable housing assembly wherein the filling aid device is in the locked configuration;

rotating the filling aid device into the unlocked configuration;

filling the disposable housing assembly through the septum;

actuating the filling aid device wherein the filling aid device is in the priming configuration; and

priming the disposable housing assembly.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the filling aid device has a cover portion and a bottom portion, and wherein the step of rotating the filling aid device comprises rotating the cover portion relative to the bottom portion.

9. The method of claim 7 , further comprising:

providing the disposable housing assembly with a reservoir and a fluid path fluidly connected to the reservoir; and

wherein priming the disposable housing assembly comprises flowing fluid through the fluid path.

10. The method of claim 7 , further comprising:

providing the disposable housing assembly with a pump chamber;

providing the filling aid device with a pump chamber plunger; and

wherein priming the disposable housing assembly comprises the steps of actuating the pump chamber plunger to open and close the pump chamber.

11. The method of claim 7 , further comprising:

after priming, releasably engaging the disposable housing assembly to a reusable housing assembly.

12. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

after releasably engaging the disposable housing assembly to the reusable housing assembly, releasing the disposable housing assembly from the reusable housing assembly.

13. The method of claim 7 , further comprising:

providing a septum window in the filling device and a septum in the disposable housing assembly;

the step of filling comprises;

inserting a needle through the septum window; and

transferring fluid through the needle into the disposable housing assembly.
