Golf club head having an adjustable weighting system
A golf club head includes a club body having a crown opposite a sole, a toe end opposite a heel end, a back end, and a hosel. The golf club head also includes an adjustable weighting system positioned on the club body, the adjustable weighting system includes a single channel and a member that is received by the single channel and fastened to the club body, where a plurality of weights are coupled to the member. The golf club head can additionally or alternatively include a face angle adjustment system positioned on the sole, the face angle adjustment system includes a member that is removably received by the single channel and fastened to the sole, the member includes a first end member and a second end member, wherein the member is configured to be repositioned within the channel to adjust a resting face angle of the golf club head.
1. A golf club head comprising:
a club body having a crown opposite a sole, a toe end opposite a heel end, a back end, and a hosel, and wherein a channel is formed in the club body; and
an adjustable weighting system comprising:
a member configured to be received by the channel, the member comprising:
a plurality of connecting members;
a plurality of weights; and
a plurality of fasteners;
wherein:
the channel further comprises:
a width defined as the distance between opposing sides of the channel in a front to back direction;
a height defined as a distance between the sole and a bottom surface of the channel:
wherein:
the height and the width are constant along the channel:
a plurality of attachment points;
the plurality of connecting members comprise a first end comprising a first pin and a second end comprising a second pin;
the plurality of weights comprises a first keyed end and a second keyed end;
wherein the plurality of weights are configured to receive the plurality of connecting members; and
the plurality of fasteners are configured to removably couple the plurality of weights to the plurality of attachment points.
2. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein:
the plurality of weights includes a first weight comprising a first keyed end and a second keyed end, a second weight comprising a first keyed end and a second keyed end, and a third weight comprising a first keyed end and a second keyed end;
the plurality of connecting members includes a first connecting member comprising a first pin and a second pin and a second connecting member comprising a first pin and a second pin; and
the plurality of attachment points comprises a first attachment point proximate the toe end, a second attachment point proximate the back end, and a third attachment point proximate the heel end.
3. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the member is defined by alternating the plurality of weight members and plurality of connecting members.
4. The golf club head of claim 2 , wherein:
the first weight is removably coupled to the first connecting member via the first weight first keyed end and the first connecting member first pin;
the second weight is removably coupled to the first connecting member via the second weight first keyed end and the first connecting member second pin;
the second weight is removably coupled to the second connecting member via the second weight second keyed end and the second connecting member first pin; and
the third weight is removably coupled to the second connecting member via the third weight first keyed end and the second connecting member second pin.
5. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the first pin and second pin, of each of the plurality of connecting members, comprise a shaft and a head.
6. The golf club head of claim 3 , wherein the member comprises a shape that is complimentary to the channel.
7. The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the channel is arcuate and formed on the sole, proximate to the back end.
8. The golf club head of claim 2 , wherein the first weight comprises a mass between 6 grams and 20 grams, and the second and third weights comprise a mass between 0.25 grams and 4 grams.
9. The golf club head of claim 2 , wherein the first weight member is mass of 15 grams, the second weight member is 0.5 grams, and the third weight member is 0.5 grams.
10. The golf club head of claim 8 , there in the first weight member is coupled to the first attachment point, the second weight member is coupled to the second attachment point, and the third weight member is coupled to the third attachment point.
11. The golf club head of claim 2 , wherein:
the first weight member, second weight member, and third weight member are configured to couple with each of the first attachment point, the second attachment point, and the third attachment point.
12. The golf club head of claim 10 , wherein shifting the first weight member, the second weight member, and third weight member between the first attachment point, the second attachment point, and third attachment point changes a center of gravity of the golf club head.
13. A golf club head comprising:
a club body having a crown opposite a sole, a toe end opposite a heel end, a back end, and a hosel, and wherein an arcuate channel is formed in the club body; and
an adjustable weighting system comprising:
a member comprising a body configured to be received by the channel and comprising a first mounting point, a second mounting point, and a third mounting point;
a first weight member having a first aperture and a first mass;
a second weight member having a second aperture and a second mass, less than the first mass;
a third weight member having a third aperture and a third mass, less than the first mass;
a first fastener;
a second fastener;
and a third fastener;
wherein:
the channel and member comprise complementary geometries;
the channel comprises:
a width defined as the distance between opposing sides of the channel in a front to back direction;
a height defined as a distance between the sole and a bottom surface of the channel:
wherein:
the height and the width are constant along the channel:
a plurality of attachment points;
a first bore, a second bore, and a third bore;
wherein:
the first mounting point and first bore are aligned to receive the first fastener and define a first attachment location;
the second mounting point and second bore are aligned to receive the second fastener and define a second attachment location;
the third mounting point and third bore are aligned to receive the third fastener and define a third attachment location;
wherein each of the first weight member, second weight member, and third weight member are configured to be coupled at each of the first attachment location, second attachment location, and third attachment location by reorientation.
14. The golf club head of claim 13 , wherein the first weight comprises a mass between 6 grams and 20 grams, and the second and third weights comprise a mass between 0.25 grams and 4 grams.
15. The golf club head of claim 14 , wherein repositioning the first weight member, second weight member, and third weight member between the first attachment location, second attachment location, and third attachment location changes a center of gravity of the golf club.
16. The golf club head of claim 13 , wherein the channel is formed on the sole, proximate to the back end.
17. The golf club head of claim 13 , wherein first weight member, second weight member, and third weight member comprise substantially the same shape.
18. The golf club head of claim 13 , wherein each of the first weight member, second weight member, and third weight member include a weight center of gravity positioned within 0.50 inch of a perimeter of the club head.
19. The golf club head of claim 13 , wherein the channel comprises a height between 0.1 inch and 0.5 inch; and
wherein the height of the channel varies from near the heel end to near the toe end of the club head such that the cross-sectional area of the channel varies.
