Abstract

In accordance with at least one aspect of this disclosure, there is provided a system for an aircraft engine. In embodiments, the system includes an accessory box and a fuel accessory located in an interior space within the accessory box, where a vent is defined through a wall of the accessory box. In embodiments, the vent includes a plurality of holes or slots in an outer wall of the accessory box for passage of gaseous fuel from the interior space. In embodiments, the vent is configured for passive ventilation of the interior space.

Claims (4)

1. A method for handling gaseous fuel in an aircraft engine comprising:

opening a passive blast door of an accessory box under detonation of fuel gas within an interior space of the accessory box, the accessory box positioned in a nacelle and radially outward, relative to a center axis of the aircraft engine, from an exhaust duct of the aircraft engine; and

discharging detonation gas, generated by the detonation of the fuel gas within the accessory box, from the accessory box into the exhaust duct of the aircraft engine, including channeling the detonation gas from the interior space, via the passive blast door, into a detonation duct interconnecting the accessory box with the exhaust duct.

2. The method as recited in claim 1 , further comprising detecting opening of the blast door and sending a signal indicative of detonation in the accessory box.
