Abstract

Methods and systems for sanitization of liquid solutions and food products are provided. In some embodiments, methods are provided for treating a food product or food product preparation or packaging surface to reduce microbial content, comprising contacting the food product or food product preparation or packaging surface with a chlorinated nanobubble solution comprising electrolyzed water. In some embodiments, methods are provided for reducing the growth of bacteria and reversing the growth of biofilm in a water system, comprising chlorinating source water and passing the chlorinated source water through a low zeta potential crystal generator. In some embodiments, methods are provided for purifying water, comprising chlorinating the water and passing the chlorinated water through a low zeta potential crystal generator.

Claims (13)

1. A method for reducing the growth of bacteria and reversing the growth of biofilm in a water system, comprising:

chlorinating source water and passing the chlorinated source water through a low zeta potential crystal generator and changing the crystalline structure of minerals in the source water to produce treated chlorinated nanobubble water having an enhanced concentration of low zeta potential crystal, and wherein the microbial content of the treated chlorinated nanobubble water is reduced by at least about 0.3 log CFU/mL compared to the source water;

continuously circulating for a preselected period of time the treated chlorinated nanobubble water through a water system for processing food after the processing of food is complete;

wherein the continuously circulating treated chlorinated nanobubble water has an initial free available chlorine level of at least 50 ppm;

wherein, after the preselected period of time, the free available chlorine level is reduced to an operating level of 5 ppm;

maintaining the available chlorine level at 5 ppm by infusing, as needed, the treated chlorinated nanobubble water with concentrated chlorine and continuously circulating the same through the water system; and

bubbling carbon dioxide into the circulating treated chlorinated nanobubble water to maintain a target pH 5.0+/−0.5.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the treated chlorinated nanobubble water comprises nanobubbles having a diameter of less than 200 nm.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the treated chlorinated nanobubble water comprises free available chlorine in an amount of less than or equal to 300 ppm.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising sensing the free chlorine levels in the circulating treated chlorinated nanobubble water.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the water system comprises in-line chlorine meters for sensing the free chlorine levels.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising filtering the treated chlorinated nanobubble water as it continuously circulates for the preselected period of time.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising passing the continuously circulating treated chlorinated nanobubble water through a nanobubble generator.
