Abstract

Claims (38)

1. A safety razor for hair removal from skin, comprising:

a first cutting blade having an inner planar surface and an outer planar surface and comprising a sharp edge;

a first outer comb comprising a row of outer teeth extending alongside the outer planar surface of the first cutting blade, wherein the first outer comb comprises a leading opening spaced between an inside edge of the row of the outer teeth and the sharp edge of the first cutting blade;

a first inner guard comprising an inner guard edge extending alongside the inner planar surface of the first cutting blade, wherein a trailing opening is formed between the sharp edge of the first cutting blade spaced from the inner guard edge of the first inner guard; and

a shaver handle coupled with the first cutting blade, the first outer comb, and the first inner guard and having a longitudinal axis always substantially perpendicular to the sharp edge of the first cutting blade, wherein the first outer comb is between the shaver handle and the first cutting blade; and

wherein the first cutting blade is held in a position between the first outer comb and the first inner guard.

2. A safety razor according to claim 1 , wherein the leading opening is less than or equal to the trailing opening.

3. A safety razor according to claim 2 , wherein the leading opening is less than or equal to the trailing opening when the first cutting blade is at rest.

4. A safety razor according to claim 1 , wherein an exposure distance between the inside edge of the row of outer teeth and the inner guard edge of the first inner guard is about 0.1727 centimeters (about 0.068 inches).

5. A safety razor according to claim 1 , wherein the leading opening is about 0.08128 centimeters (about 0.032 inches).

A safety razor according to claim 1 , wherein an inner distance BB measured along a longitudinal axis H of the first cutting blade to the inner guard edge of the first inner guard in relation to an outer distance N measured along the longitudinal axis H of the first cutting blade from edges of the outer teeth of the first outer comb to the sharp edge of the first cutting blade has a ratio of about 1.0.

A safety razor according to claim 6 , a flat plane defined by edges of the outer teeth of the first outer comb and the inner guard edge of the first inner guard, wherein a guard to guard distance along the flat plane from the inner guard edge of the first inner guard to the edges of the outer teeth of the first outer comb is between about 1.5 mm and about 2.54 mm.

A safety razor according to claim 1 , a flat plane defined by edges of the outer teeth of the first outer comb and the inner guard edge of the first inner guard, wherein an inner distance along the flat plane from the inner guard edge of the first inner guard to a sharp edge of the first cutting blade in relation to an outer distance along the flat plane from edges of the outer teeth of the first outer comb to the sharp edge of the first cutting blade has a ratio of about 1.74.

9. A safety razor according to claim 1 , wherein the shaver handle is coupled directly to at least the first outer comb.

10. A safety razor according to claim 1 , wherein the first inner guard comprises an inner comb to at least partially form the inner guard edge of the first inner guard comprising a row of inner teeth running along the inner planar surface of the first cutting blade.

11. A safety razor according to claim 1 , further comprising

a second cutting blade having an inner planar surface and outer planar surface and comprising a sharp edge;

a second outer comb comprising a row of outer teeth extending alongside the outer planar surface of the second cutting blade, wherein the row of outer teeth of the second outer comb comprises outer teeth edges;

a second inner guard comprising an inner guard edge extending alongside the inner planar surface of the second cutting blade; and

wherein the shaver handle is further coupled to the second cutting blade, the second outer comb, and the second inner guard and the shaver handle having the longitudinal axis always substantially perpendicular to the sharp edge of the second cutting blade, wherein the second outer comb is between the shaver handle and the second cutting blade; and

wherein the second cutting blade is held in a position between the second outer comb and the second inner guard.

12. A safety razor according to claim 11 ,

wherein the sharp edge of the first cutting blade projects from the first inner guard up to a flat plane defined by edges of the outer teeth of the first outer comb and the inner guard edge of the first inner guard; and

wherein the sharp edge of the second cutting blade projects from the second inner guard up to a flat plane defined by edges of the outer teeth of the second outer comb and the inner guard edge of the second inner guard.

13. A safety razor according to claim 1 , wherein the sharp edge of the first cutting blade projects from the first inner guard up to a flat plane defined by edges of the outer teeth of the first outer comb and the inner guard edge of the first inner guard.

14. A safety razor according to claim 1 , wherein the shaver handle is an elongated handle.

15. A safety razor according to claim 1 , wherein the first cutting blade is a flexible cutting blade.

16. A method of using the safety razor of claim 15 for shaving hair on skin of a user, comprising the steps of:

(a) obtaining the safety razor;

(b) a hand of the user grasping the shaver handle on a grip of the shaver handle of the safety razor obtained in said step (a);

(c) the user reaching the shaver handle over a shoulder of the user with the first cutting blade facing towards a backside skin of the user;

(d) the user applying pressure against the backside skin of the user with the safety razor obtained in said step (a);

(e) the user making a movement stroke on the backside skin of the user with the safety razor obtained in said step (a); and

(f) the user adjusting the first cutting blade of the safety razor by altering the pressure of said step (d) during the movement stroke of said step (e).

17. A method of using the safety razor according to claim 16 , wherein said step (f) of the user adjusting the first cutting blade further comprises a substep of (f)(1) adjusting how far the first cutting blade bends towards the first outer comb by varying the pressure of the safety razor.

18. A method of using the safety razor according to claim 16 , wherein, in the safety razor obtained in said step (a),

the outer planar surface of the first cutting blade is parallel with and adjacent to a portion of the first outer comb; and

the inner planar surface of the first cutting blade is parallel with and adjacent to a portion of the first inner guard.
