Abstract

A fragrance diffuser has a diffuser element connecting a first reservoir to a second reservoir. As a fragrant oil flows between the reservoirs, the diffuser element becomes saturated with oil and diffuses the fragrance or scent. The diffuser is self-contained, easy to interact with, without creating a mess. The diffuser is relaxing and pleasant to watch as it flows through from one end and drips to the other, releasing one small bubble at a time. It is refillable, transportable, and the intensity of the scent release can be controlled easily by saturating the wood more or less often.

Claims (50)

1. A method comprising:

forming a first portion of a diffuser element comprising a plurality of slats and grooves and a through hole;

forming a second portion of the diffuser element comprising first and second ends comprising sloped surfaces and a first channel extending from the first to the second end; and

coupling the second portion of the diffuser element to the first portion by inserting the second portion into the through hole of the first portion.

2. The method of claim 1 comprising:

providing a first reservoir comprising a first opening to a first chamber of the first reservoir; and

providing a second reservoir comprising a second opening to a second chamber of the second reservoir,

wherein when the first reservoir is coupled to a first end of the first portion of the diffuser element and the second reservoir is coupled to a second end of the first portion, the first channel provides a fluid path between the first and second reservoirs.

3. The method of claim 2 wherein the first reservoir comprises glass.

4. The method of claim 2 wherein the first reservoir and second reservoir comprise glass.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein the slats are formed parallel to each other and transverse to a center axis of the diffuser element.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the first channel is formed off of a center axis of the diffuser element.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein the slats and grooves are formed on an outer surface of the diffuser element.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein the slats and grooves extend in a direction that is transverse to a center axis of the diffuser element.

9. The method of claim 1 wherein the slats extend parallel to each other.

10. The method of claim 1 wherein the second portion comprises wood.

11. A method comprising:

forming from wood a first portion of a diffuser element comprising a plurality of slats and grooves and a through hole;

forming a second portion of the diffuser element comprising first and second ends comprising sloped surfaces and a first channel extending from the first to the second end; and

coupling the second portion of the diffuser element to the first portion by inserting the second portion into the through hole of the first portion.

12. The method of claim 11 wherein the wood of the first portion of the diffuser element comprises cellulose, or wood from at least one of a pine, oak, cherry, poplar, willow, rattan, cedar, fir, hemlock, redwood, spruce, beech, cypress, alder, aspen, birch, mahogany, rosewood, teak, wenge, or maple tree.

13. A method comprising:

forming from wood a first portion of a diffuser element comprising a plurality of slats and grooves and a through hole;

forming from wood a second portion of the diffuser element comprising first and second ends and a first channel extending from the first to the second end;

coupling the second portion of the diffuser element to the first portion by inserting the second portion into the through hole of the first portion;

forming a first threaded female receptacle in a first end of the first portion of the diffuser element; and

forming a second threaded female receptacle in a second end of the first portion of the diffuser element.

14. The method of claim 13 wherein the first and second ends of the second portion comprise sloped surfaces.

15. The method of claim 13 comprising:

inserting a first gasket into the first threaded female receptacle; and

inserting a second gasket into the second threaded female receptacle.

16. The method of claim 15 comprising:

providing a first reservoir comprising a first opening to a first chamber of the first reservoir; and

providing a second reservoir comprising a second opening to a second chamber of the second reservoir.

17. The method of claim 16 wherein the first reservoir is coupled to the first end of the first portion of the diffuser element is via the first threaded female receptacle, and the first gasket is between the first threaded female receptacle and the first opening of the first reservoir,

the second reservoir is coupled to the second end of the first portion via the second threaded female receptacle, and the second gasket is between the second threaded female receptacle of the diffuser element and the second opening of the second reservoir, and

when the first and second reservoirs are coupled to the diffuser element, the first channel provides a fluid path between the first and second reservoirs.

18. The method of claim 13 wherein a first axis through a center of the first channel is not collinear with a second axis through a center of the first portion of the diffuser element.

19. A method comprising:

forming from wood a first portion of a diffuser element comprising a plurality of slats and grooves and a through hole;

forming from wood a second portion of the diffuser element comprising first and second ends and a first channel extending from the first to the second end;

coupling the second portion of the diffuser element to the first portion by inserting the second portion into the through hole of the first portion;

forming a first threaded female receptacle in a first end of the first portion of the diffuser element;

forming a second threaded female receptacle in a second end of the first portion of the diffuser element;

providing a first reservoir comprising a first opening to a first chamber of the first reservoir;

providing a second reservoir comprising a second opening to a second chamber of the second reservoir,

wherein the first reservoir is coupled to the first end of the first portion of the diffuser element is via the first threaded female receptacle,

the second reservoir is coupled to the second end of the first portion via the second threaded female receptacle, and

when the first and second reservoirs are coupled to the diffuser element, the first channel provides a fluid path between the first and second reservoirs.

20. The method of claim 19 wherein the first channel is formed off of a center axis of the diffuser element.
