MFI zeolites using DABCO and methylamine reagents
An oligomerization catalyst, oligomer products, methods for making and using same. The catalyst is synthesized MFI zeolite (ZSM-5) made from a combination of DABCO and methylamine (MEA) in the presence of Na cations.
1. A method for making a zeolite having MFI framework topology, comprising:
adding a source of 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO), methylamine (MEA) and sodium (Na) to water to form a homogenized aqueous solution;
adding a source of aluminum to the homogenized aqueous solution to form an aluminum-containing intermediate agent;
adding a source of silicon to the aluminum-containing intermediate agent to form a synthesis gel;
subjecting the synthesis gel to conditions sufficient to crystallize a MFI zeolite; and
recovering the crystallized MFI zeolite.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the source of silicon is silica and the amount of DABCO in grams per gram of silica is about 0.1 to about 1.0.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the source of silicon is silica and the amount of MEA in grams per gram of silica is about 0.1 to about 2.0.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the source of silicon is silica and the amount of sodium (Na) in grams per gram of silica is about 0.0001 to about 0.15.
5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the source of silicon is silica, the source of aluminum is alumina, and the amount of alumina in grams per gram of silica is about 0.014 to about 0.15.
6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the MFI zeolite is an acid-form zeolite having an MFI framework topology.
7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the MFI zeolite has a ratio of Si to Al (Si:Al) of about 30 to about 100, and a surface area of about 100 m 2 /g to about 600 m 2 /g.
