Abstract

The present disclosure is related to reconfigurable radio equipment and edge computing, and in particular, to technologies for cyber security and radio equipment supporting certain features ensuring protection from fraud, and testing interfaces related to reconfigurable radio equipment. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Claims (48)

interface circuitry to connect the testing equipment with the RRE; and

processor circuitry coupled with the interface circuitry, the processor circuitry arranged to:

activate, via the interface circuitry, a test mode for a first component of the RRE;

install, via the interface circuitry, a Reference Radio Application Package (RRAP) to the RRE;

send, via the interface circuitry, one or more service primitives defined by the internal interface to a second component of the RRE, the one or more service primitives to be provided by the second component to the first component;

obtain an output based on operation of the RRAP based on the one or more service primitives; and

validate the obtained output.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein, to send the one or more service primitives to the second component, the processor circuitry is arranged to:

invoke service primitive calls for the one or more service primitives in a predefined order.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the one or more service primitives are directly forwarded by the second component to the first component, and the RRAP is to cause the RRE to generate the output based on the one or more service primitives.

4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the RRAP is a first RRAP (RRAP1), and the processor circuitry is arranged to:

install, via the interface circuitry, a second RRAP (RRAP2) to the RRE, wherein the RRAP2 is to cause the RRE to generate the output based on the one or more service primitives.

5. The apparatus of claim 4 , wherein, to validate the obtained output, the processor circuitry is arranged to:

determine whether each service primitive of the one or more service primitives is performed correctly and whether a corresponding action is correctly executed for the RRAP2.

6. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the output is an output signal, and the RRAP is configured to cause the RRE to generate the output signal for respective service primitives of the one or more service primitives sent to the second component.

7. The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the output signal for the respective service primitives is maintained for a predefined amount of time or until a next service primitive call is sent to the second component, and a periodicity of the output signal is different for at least one service primitive of the one or more service primitives.

8. The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein, to obtain the output, the processor circuitry is arranged to:

measure the output signal from radiofrequency (RF) front-end circuitry of the RRE.

9. The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the output signal is a rectangular clock signal or a triangular clock signal.

10. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the internal interface is a Multiradio Interface (MURI) or a generalized MURI (gMURI), the first component is a radio control framework (RCF) and the second component is a Communication Services Layer (CSL).

11. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the internal interface is a Unified Radio Application Interface (URAI) transceiver or a generalized URAI (gURAI), the first component is a radiofrequency (RF) transceiver and the second component is a Unified Radio Application (URA).

12. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the internal interface is a Reconfigurable Radio Frequency Interface (RRFI) or a generalized RRFI (gRRFI), the first component is a URA and the second component is an RCF.

13. One or more non-transitory computer readable media (NTCRM) comprising instructions for testing an internal interface of a reconfigurable radio equipment (RRE), wherein execution of the instructions by one or more processors of testing equipment is to cause the testing equipment to:

generate and send one or more packets in a first format to a translation entity over a first interface, wherein the translation entity is to translate the one or more packets into a second format for delivery of the one or more packets to a second component of the RRE, the one or more packets including:

at least one first packet to activate a test mode of a first component of the RRE,

at least one second packet to install a Reference Radio Application Package (RRAP) to the RRE, and

at least one third packet including one or more service primitives;

obtain, from the translation entity over the first interface, one or more other packets in the first format, the one or more other packets being translated from the second format to the first format by the translation entity, and the one or more other packets including:

at least one fourth packet including data based on the one or more service primitives; and

validate an output of the RRE based on the data included in the at least one fourth packet.

14. The one or more NTCRM of claim 13 , wherein the translation entity is to provide the translated one or more packets to a routing entity disposed between one or more radio computers of the RRE and a Communication Services Layer (CSL) of the RRE.

15. The one or more NTCRM of claim 13 , wherein the one or more packets include data or commands to be provided to at least one radio computer of the one or more radio computers, and the at least one radio computer includes the first component or the second component.

16. The one or more NTCRM of claim 13 , wherein the first format is an internet protocol (IP), and the second format is an RRE-specific format or a proprietary format.

17. One or more non-transitory computer readable media (NTCRM) comprising instructions for translating test packets for testing an internal interface of a reconfigurable radio equipment (RRE), wherein execution of the instructions by one or more processors of the RRE is to cause the RRE to:

obtain, over a first interface, one or more packets in a first format from testing equipment, wherein the one or more packets including:

at least one first packet to activate a test mode of a first component of the RRE,

at least one second packet to install a Reference Radio Application Package (RRAP) to the RRE, and

at least one third packet including one or more service primitives;

translate the one or more packets into a second format for consumption by a second component of the RRE;

send the one or more translated packets to a routing entity over a second interface;

obtain, from the routing entity over the second interface, data based on the one or more service primitives;

translate the data based on the one or more service primitives into one or more other packets in the first format; and

send the one or more other packets to the testing equipment over the first interface for validation of the data based on the one or more service primitives.

18. The one or more NTCRM of claim 17 , wherein the routing entity disposed between one or more radio computers of the RRE and a Communication Services Layer (CSL) of the RRE.

19. The one or more NTCRM of claim 18 , wherein, to translate the one or more packets into a second format, execution of the instructions is to cause the RRE to:
