Abstract

Certain example embodiments relate to systems and/or methods for providing enhanced control over potentially sensitive data sharable among and/or between different parties. For example, certain example embodiments provide views into computer-enabled workflows managed by external parties, including views into what sensitive data has been accessed, who has accessed it, etc., e.g., throughout the lifecycle of a product granted on the basis of an analysis of such data. A computer-enabled system for automatically assessing received sensitive data in accordance with one or more digitized rule sets also is provided in certain example embodiments, as are computer-mediated tools for helping to automatically, semi-automatically, and/or manually resolve issues detected in the assessments, e.g., via enhanced communication and collaboration, among and/or between parties to a transaction, as well as third-parties who indirectly are involved in the transaction. The data remains secure and traceable, e.g., in accordance with its provider's specifications.

Claims (42)

1. A data management method, comprising:

(a) providing a user interface to a user of a computing device comprising processing resources including at least one processor;

(b) via the user interface, enabling the user to authorize access to sensitive information about the user, at least some of that sensitive information being user-provided, and at least some other of that sensitive information being electronically accessible from an external data source based on user credentials and/or consent provided by the user via the user interface;

(c) interfacing with a computing platform remote from the user to enable that computing platform to programmatically analyze, on behalf of the user and/or an external party, the sensitive information in connection with a multi-step computer-mediated workflow, wherein the steps in the multi-step computer-mediated workflow depend at least in part on content of the sensitive information;

(d) responsive to an issue being detected by the programmatic analysis of the workflow, further interfacing with the computing platform to (a1) facilitate automatic accession of further information about the user from the external data source, conditioned on user credentials and/or consent having been provided therefor, (b1) apply a heuristic to sensitive information to which access has already been authorized, and/or (c1) electronically obtain further information from the user and/or the external party in response to a system-initiated electronic prompt for responsive information;

(e) automatically repeating (c) and (d); and

(f) presenting to the user, via the user interface, information concerning a status of the multi-step workflow, and/or presenting to the external party the information concerning the status of the multi-step workflow.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the repetition of (c) and (d) is performed periodically.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising alerting the user and/or the external party of a change in the programmatic analysis.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising detecting that there has been a change to the content of the sensitive information,

wherein the repetition of (c) and (d) is performed responsive to the detection of the change to the content of the sensitive information.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the steps in the multi-step computer-mediated workflow are further based on who the external party is.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the steps in the multi-step computer-mediated workflow are further based on the workflow's type.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the workflow's type is based on an underlying product associated with the workflow.

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising notifying the user of an outcome of the programmatic analysis.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the outcome is indicative of a form of approval.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the outcome is indicative of a form of readiness.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the form of readiness is indicative of readiness for the user to engage with the workflow.

12. The method of claim 10 , wherein the form of readiness is indicative of readiness for the user to engage with the workflow to pursue one of a plurality of different actions.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the different actions relate to different product offerings.

14. The method of claim 8 , wherein the outcome is indicative of progress.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the progress relates to movement related to completion of the workflow.

16. The method of claim 1 , further comprising notifying the user of an accession of the sensitive information on the part of the external party.

17. The method of claim 1 , further comprising notifying the user of an outcome of a rule applied to the sensitive information.

18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the notifying prompts the user to provide additional information.

19. The method of claim 17 , wherein the notifying prompts the user to take an action, the action depending on the result of the programmatic analysis.

20. The method of claim 1 , wherein the programmatic analysis includes application of a plurality of predefined rules.

21. The method of claim 20 , wherein at least one of the predefined rules is configured to generate a recommendation.

22. A data management method, comprising:

providing a user interface to a user of a computing device comprising processing resources including at least one processor;

via the user interface, enabling the user to authorize access to sensitive information about the user, at least some of that sensitive information being user-provided, and at least some other of that sensitive information being electronically accessible from an external data source based on user credentials and/or consent provided by the user via the user interface;

identifying a user goal;

based on the identified user goal, identifying a multi-step computer-mediated workflow out of a plurality of different multi-step computer-mediated workflows;

interfacing with a computing platform remote from the user to enable that computing platform to programmatically analyze, on behalf of the user and/or one or more external parties, the sensitive information in connection with the identified multi-step computer-mediated workflow;

responsive to an issue being detected by the programmatic analysis of the identified multi-step computer-mediated workflow, further interfacing with the computing platform to (a) facilitate automatic accession of further information about the user from the external data source, conditioned on user credentials and/or consent having been provided therefor, (b) apply a heuristic to sensitive information to which access has already been authorized, and/or (c) electronically obtain further information from the user and/or the one or more external parties in response to a system-initiated electronic prompt for responsive information; and

presenting to the user, via the user interface, information concerning a status of the identified multi-step computer-mediated workflow.

23. The method of claim 22 , wherein the information concerning the status of the identified multi-step computer-mediated workflow includes a recommendation based on output from the programmatic analysis.

24. The method of claim 22 , wherein the steps in the identified multi-step computer-mediated workflow depend at least in part on content of the sensitive information.

25. The method of claim 22 , wherein the goal is associated with an underlying product offered by or through the one or more external parties.

26. The method of claim 22 , further comprising periodically repeating the programmatic analysis.

27. The method of claim 22 , further comprising detecting that there has been a change to the content of the sensitive information, and repeating the programmatic analysis in response to the detection of the change to the content of the sensitive information.

28. The method of claim 22 , wherein the programmatic analysis includes application of a plurality of predefined rules, and wherein at least one possible outcome of the application of at least one of the rules includes a prompt for a follow-up action.
