Abstract

A semi-permanent relocatable structure system can be used to construct structures of various sizes and configurations from various components. The components can include leg beams, eave beams, straight roof beams, and apex beams. The width of the structure can be adjusted by interchanging the straight roof beams. The structure can further be customized and adapted over time with various units so as to meet changing needs of the user.

Claims (45)

1. A system comprising:

a frame configurable in at least a first configuration and a second configuration, the frame comprising one or more center sections formed from a plurality of arches connected by purlins and covered with fabric;

a first plurality of straight roof beams, wherein, in the first configuration, each of the plurality of arches comprises a pair of leg beams, a pair of eave beams, the first plurality of straight roof beams, and an apex beam connected to form the respective arches of the first configuration;

a second plurality of straight roof beams different from the first plurality of straight roof beams, wherein, in the second configuration, each of the plurality of arches comprises a pair of leg beams, a pair of eave beams, the second plurality of straight roof beams different from the first plurality of straight roof beams, and an apex beam connected to form the respective arches of the second configuration;

wherein each of the one or more center sections comprises a first open end and a second end; and

at least one of a full width door unit, a gable end unit, a fabric vertical door unit, or an open end of an additional center section connected to the first open end of one of the center sections;

wherein the at least one gable end unit, fabric vertical door unit, or additional center section connected to said first open end is configured to be removed and replaced with at least one other gable end unit, fabric vertical door unit, or an additional center section; and

wherein each arch of the first configuration is configured such that at least some of the first plurality of straight roof beams are adapted to be removed and replaced with at least some of the second, different plurality of straight roof beams, having a different length from that of the first plurality of straight room beams, wherein a width of the system is adjustable in the second configuration as compared to the first configuration.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more center sections are connectable end to end to adjust a length of the system in either the first or the second configuration.

3. The system of claim 1 , further comprising:

at least one of an additional full width door unit, gable end unit, fabric vertical door unit, or open end of a further additional center section connected to the second end of one of the center sections;

wherein the at least one additional gable end unit, fabric vertical door unit, or further additional center section connected to said second end is configured to be removed and replaced with at least one other such additional gable end unit, fabric vertical door unit, or further additional center section.

4. The system of claim 1 , further comprising at least one of a ventilation or HV AC system, insulating liner, power distribution system, relocatable flooring system, or solar power system attached to the system in one of the first and second configurations, and operatively coupled thereto.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the pairs of leg beams, the pairs of eave beams, the first and second pluralities of straight roof beams, and the apex beams comprise snap button connections adapted to form the arches therefrom.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein one or more of the pairs of leg beams, the pairs of eave beams, the first and second pluralities of straight roof beams, and the apex beams have hollow oval cross-sections.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is configured for shipment or storage in a standard 20 foot or 6.1 meter intermodal ISO (International Organization for Standardization) containers.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein each of the one or more center sections is at least 12 feet or 3.6 meters long.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the arches comprise snap connections adapted for assembly thereof.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is configurable in one or both of the first and second configurations without welding.

11. The system of claim 1 , wherein:

the pairs of leg beams comprised by the arches of the second configuration are substantially the same or identical to the pairs of leg beams comprised by the arches of the first configuration;

the pairs of eave beams comprised by the arches of the second configuration are substantially the same or identical to the pairs of eave beams comprised by the arches of the first configuration; or

the apex beams connected to form the arches of the second configuration are substantially the same or identical to the apex beams connected to form the arches of the first configuration.

12. A method for providing the system of claim 1 , comprising:

configuring the frame in a selected configuration of the first configuration or the second configuration;

wherein the leg beams, eave beams and apex beams of the selected configuration are connected to the first or second plurality of straight roof beams of the selected configuration to form the plurality of arches of the selected configuration.

13. The method of claim 12 , further comprising:

removing at least some of the first or second plurality of straight roof beams, corresponding to the selected configuration; and

replacing said removed straight roof beams with at least some of the first or second plurality of straight roof beams corresponding to another of the first or second configuration, different from the selected configuration;

wherein the leg beams, eave beams and apex beams corresponding to the selected configuration are connected to the at least some of the first or second plurality of straight roof beams corresponding to the other configuration, forming the plurality of arches thereof.

14. A structural system comprising:

a frame configured in a selected configuration, the frame comprising:

one or more center sections formed from a plurality of arches defining an open end and a second end, wherein each of the arches comprises a pair of leg beams and a pair of eave beams;

a first plurality of straight roof beams and an apex beam connected to the leg beams and eave beams to form the arches, in the selected configuration;

at least one of a door unit, a gable end, or an open end of an additional such center section, connected to the open end of one of the center sections, wherein said door unit, gable end or open end is removable and replaceable with another such door unit, gable end or open end; and

a second plurality of straight roof beams, different from the first plurality of straight roof beams, wherein at least some of the first plurality of straight roof beams are replaceable with at least some of the second plurality of straight roof beams to reconfigure the frame in another configuration, different from the selected configuration;

wherein the first and second pluralities of straight roof beams have different lengths selected to change a width of the structural system in the other configuration, as compared to the selected configuration.

15. The structural system of claim 14 , further comprising a plurality of purlins connecting the arches to configure the frame in the selected configuration.

16. The structural system of claim 15 , further comprising a fabric material disposed over one or more of the arches to define an interior of the structural system thereby.

17. The structural system of claim 14 , further comprising one or both of an insulating liner or flooring system operatively coupled to the structural system.

18. The structural system of claim 14 , further comprising one or more of a ventilation system, an HVAC system, a power distribution system or a solar power system operatively coupled to the structural system.

19. The structural system of claim 14 , wherein one or more of the pairs of leg beams, the pairs of eave beams, or the apex beams are substantially the same or identical in the selected configuration and the other configuration.

20. A method for providing the structural system of claim 14 , comprising:

assembling the frame in the selected configuration, wherein the plurality of arches are formed by the pairs of leg beams, the pairs of eave beams, the first plurality of straight roof beams and the apex beams; and

reassembling the frame in the other configuration, wherein the plurality of arches are formed by the pairs of leg beams, the pairs of eave beams, the second plurality of straight roof beams and the apex beams.
