Systems and methods for secure SAAS redirection from native applications
Systems and methods discussed for redirection of launch requests for local applications to corresponding remote applications, such as SaaS or network applications provided by an application server, and access of the corresponding remote application via an embedded browser of a client application. A client application executed by a client device may detect a request of a user to launch a local application of the client device. The client application may determine that the local application corresponds to a network application provided by an application server. The client application may intercept the request to launch the local application, responsive to the determination. An embedded browser of the client application may access the network application from the application server, responsive to interception of the request.
1. A method comprising intercepting, by a client device, a request to execute an application locally on the client device;
determining, by a client device, that a remote computing device hosts a version of the application; and
providing, by the client device responsive to the request to execute the application locally on the client device, access to the version of the application hosted and executed on the remote computing device instead of executing the application locally, wherein access to the version of the application hosted on the remote computing device is based on a user of the client device.
2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising detecting, by the client device, the request to execute the application locally.
3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising preventing, by the client device, execution of the application locally on the client device.
4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing, by the client device, an authentication token to the remote computing device to provide access to the version of the application hosted on the remote computing device instead of executing the application locally on the client device.
5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising accessing, by the client device using a browser, the version of the application hosted on the remote computing device.
6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining, by the client device based at least on the application, to provide access to the version of the application hosted on the remote computing device instead of executing the application locally.
7. A client device comprising:
one or more processors, coupled to memory and configured to:
intercept a request to execute an application locally on the client device;
determine that a remote computing device hosts a version of the application; and
provide, responsive to the request to execute the application locally on the client device, access to the version of the application hosted and executed on the remote computing device instead of executing the application locally, wherein access to the version of the application hosted on the remote computing device is based on a user of the client device.
8. The client device of claim 7 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to detect the request to execute the application locally.
9. The client device of claim 7 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to prevent execution of the application locally on the client device.
10. The client device of claim 7 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to provide an authentication token to the remote computing device to provide access to the version of the application hosted on the remote computing device instead of executing the application locally on the client device.
11. The client device of claim 7 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to access, using a browser, the version of the application hosted on the remote computing device.
12. The client device of claim 7 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to determine, based at least on the application, to provide access to the version of the application hosted on the remote computing device instead of executing the application locally.
13. A non-transitory computer readable medium storing program instructions for causing one or more processors to:
intercept a request to execute an application locally on the client device;
determine that a remote computing device hosts a version of the application; and
provide, responsive to the request to execute the application locally on the client device, access to the version of the application hosted and executed on the remote computing device instead of executing the application locally, wherein access to the version of the application hosted on the remote computing device is based on a user of the client device.
14. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the program instructions further cause the one or more processors to prevent execution of the application locally on the client device.
15. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the program instructions further cause the one or more processors to use a browser within a client application to provide an authentication token to the remote computing device to provide access to the version of the application hosted on the remote computing device instead of executing the application locally on the client device.
16. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the program instructions further cause the one or more processors to determine, based at least on the application, to provide access to the version of the application hosted on the remote computing device instead of executing the application locally.
17. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the program instructions further cause the one or more processors to access, using a browser, the version of the application hosted on the remote computing device.
