Abstract

A payment button on a device, such as a mobile phone, allows the user to remain on the window or page from which an item was selected for purchase. When the user is ready to purchases, the button is selected, and the user simply enters an identifier, such as a password or PIN, and the transaction is processed. The button remains on the same screen and changes during different stages of the payment process.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the authentication request is displayed on the buy button before the transforming.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the determining comprises determining that the account associated with the user device was previously established.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise determining that a new account is needed to process the purchase request and transmitting a request to open the new account associated with the user of the user device.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:

transforming, after the user authentication credentials are accessed received, the text entry field by including a first button that displays an animation indicating the purchase request is being processed; and

transforming, after the purchase request has been processed, the first button to include a second button displaying a message regarding the processing of the purchase request.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processing the purchase request includes determining whether a payment is approved.

analyzing the purchase request received;

determining an account associated with the user;

transmitting, via the network connection, an authentication request to the user device;

detecting a user interaction of the buy button;

transforming, in response to the detected user interaction of the buy button, the buy button at least in part by including a text entry field in the buy button, wherein a rest of the user interface remains unchanged while the buy button is transformed;

receiving user authentication credentials received least in part through the text entry field, the user authentication credentials including a user PIN or a password but not billing information; and

processing the purchase request based on the user authentication credentials while the user interface remains on the website.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the authentication request is displayed on the buy button before the text entry field is displayed as the part of the buy button.

11. The method of claim 9 , further comprising determining that the account associated with the user device was previously established.

12. The method of claim 9 , further comprising determining that a new account is needed for processing the purchase request, and wherein the method further comprises transmitting a request to open the new account associated with the user of the user device.

13. The method of claim 9 , further comprising: before the purchase request is received, causing the buy button to be installed in the user interface of the user device.

14. The method of claim 9 , wherein the processing the purchase request includes determining whether a payment is approved.

15. The method of claim 14 , further comprising: based on a determination that the payment is not approved, transmitting a notification that is presented on the user interface.

16. The method of claim 9 , further comprising: after the purchase request has been processed, displaying a confirmation of a payment on the buy button.

detecting a selection, via the user interface, of the buy button displayed on the website of the merchant;

determining that the selection of the buy button corresponds to a purchase request to purchase an item from the website of the merchant;

locating an account associated with the user of the user device;

transmitting an authentication request to the user device;

transforming, in response to a user interaction of the buy button, the buy button at least in part by including a text entry field in the buy button, wherein a rest of the user interface remains unchanged while the buy button is transformed;

receiving user authentication credentials received at least in part through the text entry field, the user authentication credentials including a user PIN or a password but not billing information; and

processing the purchase request based on the user authentication credentials while the user interface continues to display at least a portion of the website.
