Abstract

A method performed by a terminal in a communication system is provided. Information on a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) configuration type corresponding to a mapping pattern of a plurality of DMRS ports is received from a base station. Control information indicating at least one DMRS port among the plurality of DMRS ports is received from the base station. The at least one DMRS port associated with downlink data is identified based on the control information. Downlink data based on the identified DMRS port is received from the base station. The plurality of DMRS ports belong to two or three DMRS groups based on a DMRS configuration type. Resources corresponding to different DMRS groups are multiplexed based on an orthogonal code.

receiving, from the base station, downlink control information (DCI) including information field for triggering the aperiodic CSI report, wherein the information field is defined as one of a first interpretation and a second interpretation based on a number of the one or more configurations and a size of the information field, where:

the first interpretation is that the information field directly indicates the configuration from the one or more configurations received via the higher layer signaling, and

the second interpretation is that the information field indicates the configuration from at least one configuration selected via a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) among the one or more configurations received via the higher layer signaling,

receiving, from the base station, an aperiodic CSI-RS based on an offset for the aperiodic CSI-RS; and

transmitting, to the base station, the aperiodic CSI report including CSI generated based on the aperiodic CSI-RS.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the offset for the aperiodic CSI-RS corresponds to a CSI-RS resource associated with the aperiodic CSI report indicated based on the information field in the DCI.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the aperiodic CSI-RS is received in a second transmission time interval (TTI) after the offset for the aperiodic CSI-RS from a first TTI in which the DCI is received.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the configuration includes information for a CSI-RS resource set and a CSI-interference measurement (CSI-IM) resource set.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein, in case that all bits of the information field are equal to 0, the information field indicates that the aperiodic CSI report is not triggered.

6. A method performed by a base station in a communication system, the method comprising:

transmitting, to a user equipment (UE), one or more configurations via higher layer signaling, wherein a configuration is associated with an aperiodic channel state information (CSI) report and includes information for a CSI-reference signal (RS) resource;

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the CSI RS offset for the aperiodic CSI-RS corresponds to a CSI-RS resource associated with the aperiodic CSI report indicated based on the information field in the DCI.

8. The method of claim 6 , wherein the aperiodic CSI-RS is transmitted in a second transmission time interval (TTI) after the offset for the aperiodic CSI-RS from a first TTI in which the DCI is transmitted.

9. The method of claim 6 , wherein the configuration includes information for a CSI-RS resource set and a CSI-interference measurement (CSI-IM) resource set.

10. The method of claim 6 , wherein, in case that all bits of the information field are equal to 0, the information field indicates that the aperiodic CSI report is not triggered.

11. A user equipment (UE) in a communication system, the UE comprising:

a transceiver; and

a controller configured to:

receive, from a base station, one or more configurations via higher layer signaling, a configuration is associated with an aperiodic channel state information (CSI) report and includes information for a CSI-reference signal (RS) resource;
