Abstract

Systems, methods, apparatus, processes, computer program code and means for conducting transactions are described which allow a first party to a transaction to identify a second party to a transaction.

Claims (41)

1. A method, comprising:

determining, by a customer device, a transaction between a customer associated with the customer device and a merchant associated with a merchant device;

responsive to determining the transaction, sending, by the customer device and to a transaction management system, a request for a token for the transaction, the request comprising information indicating characteristics of the transaction;

receiving the token from the transaction management system, the token comprising identification information that identifies access location for accessing functionality of the transaction management system; and

responsive to receiving the token, displaying a quick-response (QR) code that encodes at least the identification information for scanning by the merchant device.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the identification information includes a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) string or a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) string that indicates an electronic address of a server of the transaction management system, the server providing the functionality.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the identification information comprises a formatted Uniform Resource Locator (URL) that is linked to the transaction management system.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the identification information includes one or more of an identifier of the merchant, a transaction amount of the transaction, or a currency type of the transaction.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the token indicates transaction details, based on the characteristics of the transaction, of the transaction between the merchant and the customer, including an account at the transaction management system of at least one of the merchant or the customer.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, from the transaction management system, a confirmation that the transaction has been completed; and

responsive to receiving the confirmation, transmitting a transaction receipt to the merchant device indicating a completion of the transaction.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, from the transaction management system, an indication that the transaction was processed using the token.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein said determining the transaction comprises initiating the transaction by detecting that the customer device is within a certain distance of the merchant device.

9. A customer device, comprising:

a non-transitory memory storing instructions; and

a processor configured to execute the instructions to cause the customer device to:

determine an initiation of a transaction between a customer associated with the customer device and a merchant associated with a merchant device;

in response to a determination of the initiation of the transaction, transmit, to a transaction management system, a token request for a token for the transaction, the token request comprising information pertaining to the transaction;

receive the token from the transaction management system, the token comprising identification information that indicates a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) string or a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) for accessing a functionality of the transaction management system; and

responsive to receiving the token, display a quick-response (QR) code that indicates at least the identification information for scanning by the merchant device.

10. The customer device of claim 9 , wherein the identification information comprises one or more of an identifier of the merchant, a transaction amount of the transaction, or a currency type of the transaction.

11. The customer device of claim 9 , wherein the token indicates transaction details, based on characteristics of the transaction, of the transaction between the merchant and the customer, including an account at the transaction management system of at least one of the merchant or the customer.

12. The customer device of claim 9 , wherein an execution of the instructions further causes the customer device to, receive, from the transaction management system, a confirmation that the transaction has been completed; and

responsive to receiving the confirmation, transmit a transaction receipt to the merchant device indicating a completion of the transaction.

13. The customer device of claim 9 , wherein executing the instructions further causes the customer device to, receive, from the transaction management system, an indication that the transaction was processed using the token.

14. The customer device of claim 9 , wherein said determination of the initiation of the transaction comprises initiating the transaction by detecting that that the customer device is within a certain distance of the merchant device.

15. A non-transitory machine-readable medium having stored thereon machine-readable instructions executable to cause a machine to perform operations comprising:

determining an initiation of a transaction between a customer associated with a customer device and a merchant associated with a merchant device;

in response to a determination of the initiation of the transaction, transmitting, to a transaction management system, a token request for a token for the transaction, the token request comprising information pertaining to the transaction;

receiving the token from the transaction management system, the token comprising identification information that indicates a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) string or a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) for accessing a functionality of the transaction management system; and

responsive to receiving the token, displaying a quick-response (QR) code that comprises at least the identification information for scanning by the merchant device.

16. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the identification information comprises one or more of an identifier of the merchant, a transaction amount of the transaction, or a currency type of the transaction.

17. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the token indicates transaction details, based on characteristics of the transaction, of the transaction between the merchant and the customer, including an account at the transaction management system of at least one of the merchant or the customer.

18. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise:

receiving, from the transaction management system, a confirmation that the transaction has been completed; and

responsive to receiving the confirmation, transmitting a transaction receipt to the merchant device indicating a completion of the transaction.

19. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise:

receiving, from the transaction management system, an indication that the transaction was processed using the token.

20. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein said determining the transaction comprises initiating the transaction by detecting that that the customer device is within a certain distance of the merchant device.
