Abstract

Various examples are provided related to identification of anthropometric information for fitting of compression garments. In one example, a method of generating compression garment fit information includes acquiring images including a selected body part or body area in need of compression therapy; processing the acquired images along with a library of compression garment fit information; generating a 3D reconstruction of the selected body part/area; deriving anthropometric information for the selected body part/area from the 3D reconstruction; providing a compression value corresponding to a prescribed or intended amount of compression therapy applied to the selected body part/area; and generating compression garment fit information for the selected body part/area. In another example, a library of compression garment fit information includes anthropometric information generated for individuals in need of compression therapy; information associated with a health condition for the individuals; and compression garment fit instructions provided by a compression garment manufacturer.

Claims (60)

1. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising a library of leg compression garment fit information generated from a plurality of individuals in need of compression therapy on one or both legs, wherein the library of leg compression garment fit information comprises:

a. a collection of anthropometric leg information generated for the plurality of individuals in need of compression therapy, wherein:

i. the collection of anthropometric leg information is derived from processing of images generated in one or more imaging events for each of the plurality of individuals; and

ii. the collection of anthropometric leg information comprises for one or both legs of each of the plurality of individuals:

1. A distal leg compression garment fit location comprising one of:

a. a location proximate to a heel bottom and a bottom of an ankle; or

b. a location proximate to the ankle;

2. A proximal leg compression garment fit location comprising one of:

a. a location proximate to ½ of a distance from a location proximate to the heel bottom and a location proximate to a popliteal region;

b. a location proximate to ¾ of a distance from the location proximate to the ankle and the location proximate to the popliteal region;

c. the location proximate to the popliteal region;

d. a location proximate to a knee region;

e. a location proximate to ½ of a distance from the location proximate to the knee region and a location proximate to a gluteal region; or

f. the location proximate to the gluteal region;

3. A plurality of leg circumferences including at least circumferences at distal and proximal anatomic leg landmark locations; and

4. leg length information;

b. a collection of information associated with one or more health conditions for each of the plurality of individuals; and

c. a collection of compression garment fit instructions provided by one or more compression garment manufacturers.

2. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the library of leg compression garment fit information is configured to generate leg compression garment fit information for a person in need of compression therapy on either or both legs.

3. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 2 , wherein the leg compression garment fit information is configured for use in either of:

a. selection, by a computer, of a pre-fabricated leg compression garment for the person; or

b. incorporation, by the computer, in fabrication of a custom leg compression garment for the person.

4. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 3 , wherein the library of leg compression garment fit information comprises for some of the plurality of individuals:

a. information generated from evaluation of some of the plurality of individuals before, during, and after the individual has worn a leg compression garment selected from or custom-fabricated using the leg compression garment fit information; and

b. feedback and compliance information for some of the plurality of individuals before, during, and after the individual has worn a leg compression garment selected from or custom-fabricated using the leg compression garment fit information.

5. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 4 , wherein the library of leg compression garment fit information comprises clinician diagnosis and treatment information for some of the plurality of individuals.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 2 , wherein the library of leg compression garment fit information comprises a compression value corresponding to a prescribed or intended amount of compression therapy to be applied to a leg of the person when a selected pre-fabricated or custom-fabricated leg compression garment is worn by the person.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the distal and proximal anatomic leg landmark locations are derived from 3D reconstructions generated by the processing of images provided as a segmented leg area associated with a leg compression garment configured for fitting on all or part of the leg area.

8. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the library of leg compression garment fit information comprises tissue compressibility information or tension circumference information for one or more locations on the leg for some or all of the plurality of individuals.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the library of leg compression garment fit information includes information associated with a difference in one or more health conditions from a first time to a second time for some of the individuals.

10. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein some of the leg compression garment fit information is reviewed by a human prior to use in selection of a pre-fabricated leg compression garment or in fabrication of a custom leg compression garment for the person.

11. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising a library of arm compression garment fit information generated from a plurality of individuals in need of compression therapy on one or both arms, wherein the library of arm compression garment fit information comprises:

a. a collection of anthropometric arm information generated for the plurality of individuals in need of compression therapy, wherein:

i. the collection of anthropometric arm information is derived from processing of images generated in one or more imaging events for each of the plurality of individuals; and

ii. the collection of anthropometric arm information comprises for one or both arms in each of the plurality of individuals:

1. A distal compression garment fit location comprising one of:

a. a location proximate to a palm at a base of a thumb; or

b. a location proximate to a wrist region; and

2. a proximal garment fit location generated as one of:

a. a location corresponding to ½ of a distance from the location proximate to the wrist and a location proximate to a midpoint of a forearm;

b. a location proximate to an elbow region;

c. a location corresponding to ½ of a distance from the location proximate to the elbow region and a location proximate to an axilla region; or

d. the location proximate to the axilla region;

3. A plurality of arm circumferences including at least circumferences at distal and proximal anatomic arm landmark locations; and

4. arm length information;

b. a collection of information associated with one or more health conditions for each of the plurality of individuals; and

c. a collection of compression garment fit instructions provided by one or more compression garment manufacturers.

12. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the library of arm compression garment fit information is configured to generate arm compression garment fit information for a person in need of compression therapy on either or both arms.

13. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the arm compression garment fit information is configured for use in either of:

a. selection, by a computer, of a pre-fabricated arm compression garment for the person; or

b. incorporation, by the computer, in fabrication of a custom arm compression garment for the person.

14. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the library of arm compression garment fit information comprises for some of the individuals:

a. information generated from evaluation of some of the plurality of individuals before, during, and after the individual has worn an arm compression garment selected from or custom-fabricated using the arm compression garment fit information; and

b. feedback and compliance information for some of the plurality of individuals before, during, and after the individual has worn an arm compression garment selected from or custom-fabricated using the arm compression garment fit information.

15. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the library of arm compression garment fit information comprises clinician diagnosis and treatment information for some of the plurality of individuals.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the library of arm compression garment fit information comprises a compression value corresponding to a prescribed or intended amount of compression therapy to be applied to an arm of the person when a selected pre-fabricated or custom-fabricated arm compression garment is worn by the person.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the distal and proximal anatomic arm landmark locations are derived from 3D reconstructions generated by the processing of images provided as a segmented arm area associated with an arm compression garment configured for fitting on all or part of the arm area.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the library of arm compression garment fit information comprises tissue compressibility information or tension circumference information for one or more locations on the arm for some or all of the individuals.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the library of arm compression garment fit information includes information associated with a difference in one or more health conditions from a first time to a second time for some of the plurality of individuals.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein some of the arm compression garment fit information is reviewed by a human prior to use in selection of a pre-fabricated arm compression garment or in fabrication of a custom arm compression garment for the person.
