Abstract

An apparatus includes a first sensor, and a network interface that sends a registration request and receives a recording request. The registration request indicates an identity of the first sensor, an Internet address of the apparatus, and a physical address of the apparatus. The recording request identifies the first sensor. The first sensor records data to produce a recording, at least in part based on the recording request.

Claims (51)

1. A method implemented by a computing device, the method comprising:

sending a registration request, the registration request indicating an identity of a first sensor of the computing device, an Internet address of the computing device, and a physical address of the computing device;

receiving a ping request from a ping address;

transmitting a ping response to the ping address, the ping response indicating the physical address of the computing device, the ping response further indicating a second sensor;

receiving a recording request, the recording request identifying the first sensor; and

recording data with the first sensor to produce a recording, at least in part based on the recording request.

2. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving an encryption request including a key; and

encrypting the recording with the key.

3. The method according to claim 2 , further comprising:

receiving a registration response including an Internet address of a server; and

transmitting, to the Internet address of the server, a recording response including the recording.

4. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

changing, with a motor, a position or an orientation of the first sensor, at least in part based on the recording request.

5. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

obtaining, with a global positioning sensor, a position of the computing device, wherein the physical address is at least in part based on the position.

6. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

powering up the first sensor, at least in part based on the recording request.

7. An apparatus, comprising:

a first sensor;

a second sensor; and

a network interface that sends a registration request and receives a recording request, the registration request indicating an identity of the first sensor, an Internet address of the apparatus, and a physical address of the apparatus, the recording request identifying the first sensor, wherein

the network interface receives a ping request from a ping address and transmits a ping response to the ping address, the ping response indicating the physical address of the apparatus, the ping response further indicating the second sensor, and

the first sensor records data to produce a recording, at least in part based on the recording request.

8. The apparatus according to claim 7 , further comprising:

a processing unit configured to encrypt the recording with a key, wherein the network interface receives an encryption request including the key.

9. The apparatus according to claim 8 , wherein the network interface receives a registration response including an Internet address of a server and transmits, to the Internet address of the server, a recording response including the recording.

10. The apparatus according to claim 7 , further comprising:

a motor that changes a position or an orientation of the first sensor, at least in part based on the recording request.

11. The apparatus according to claim 7 , further comprising:

a global positioning sensor to obtain a position of the apparatus, wherein the physical address is at least in part based on the position.

12. The apparatus according to claim 7 , further comprising:

a processing unit that powers up the first sensor, at least in part based on the recording request.

13. A non-transitory, computer-readable medium encoded with instructions that, when executed by a processing unit of an apparatus, cause the apparatus to perform operations comprising:

sending a registration request, the registration request indicating an identity of a first sensor of the apparatus, an Internet address of the apparatus, and a physical address of the apparatus;

receiving a ping request from a ping address;

transmitting a ping response to the ping address, the ping response indicating the physical address of the apparatus, the ping response further indicating a second sensor;

receiving a recording request, the recording request identifying the first sensor; and

recording data with the first sensor to produce a recording, at least in part based on the recording request.

14. The non-transitory, computer-readable medium according to claim 13 , the operations further comprising:

receiving an encryption request including a key; and

encrypting the recording with the key.

15. The non-transitory, computer-readable medium according to claim 14 , the operations further comprising:

receiving a registration response including an Internet address of a server; and

transmitting, to the Internet address of the server, a recording response including the recording.

16. The non-transitory, computer-readable medium according to claim 13 , the operations further comprising:

changing, with a motor, a position or an orientation of the first sensor, at least in part based on the recording request.

17. The non-transitory, computer-readable medium according to claim 13 , the operations further comprising:

obtaining, with a global positioning sensor, a position of the apparatus, wherein the physical address is at least in part based on the position.

18. The non-transitory, computer-readable medium according to claim 13 , the operations further comprising:

powering up the first sensor, at least in part based on the recording request.
