Abstract

In various embodiments, a player may view a list of popular games.

Claims (68)

1. A method in an electronic device, comprising:

storing, in memory of a computing device, gameplay data of a first online game played by a player,

determining, by at least one processor, based on the gameplay data, whether the first online game was played for at least a predetermined length of time or a predetermined number of rounds;

based on detecting that the first online game is played for at least the predetermined length of time or the predetermined number of rounds, retrieving, by the at least one processor, a plurality of secondary games that share at least one gameplay characteristic with the first online game;

ranking, via the at least one processor, the plurality of secondary games, based at least on a count of a number of times that each of the plurality of secondary games has returned at least a preset multiple of a bet amount;

displaying, via a display, the ranked plurality of secondary games; and

receiving, via a communication unit, a request by the player to execute of one of the plurality of secondary games, and responsive to the request, transmitting game play data via the communication unit to an electronic device of the player to cause the one of the plurality of secondary games to be playable on the electronic device of the player.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the ranked plurality of secondary games is categorized into a plurality of lists based on one of:

a type of game for each of the plurality of secondary games; and

a characteristic of players currently playing each of the plurality of secondary games.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the ranked plurality of secondary games is displayed as a list of recommendations on the display, and wherein the list includes at least a subset of the plurality of secondary games.

4. The method of claim 3 , further comprising:

rank-ordering the list of recommendations further based at least in part on play of the games in the list during a most recent 24-hour period.

5. The method of claim 3 , further comprising:

rank-ordering the list of recommendations further based at least in part on a number of times the games in the list are currently in play.

6. The method of claim 3 , further comprising:

rank-ordering of the list of recommendations further based at least in part on a number of players who are currently playing the games in the list.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

storing, in the memory, gameplay data of a second game played by another player;

determining, by the at least one processor, whether the second game is previously played by the another player for at least the predetermined length of time or the predetermined number of rounds; and

based on the determination, displaying, via the display, a notification suggesting the second game to the player.

8. The method of claim 7 , further comprising:

determining whether a threshold quantity of winnings is historically awarded to the another player by the second game,

wherein the notification is displayed when the threshold quantity of winnings is historically awarded, in addition to determining that the second game is previously played for the at least the predetermined length of time or the predetermined number of rounds.

9. An electronic device, comprising:

a memory storing instructions;

a display; and

at least one processor operatively coupled to the memory and the display,

wherein the instructions are executable by the at least one processor to cause the electronic device to:

store, in the memory, gameplay data of a first online game played by a player,

determine, by the at least one processor, based on the gameplay data, whether the first online game was played for at least a predetermined length of time or a predetermined number of rounds,

based on detecting that the first online game is played for at least the predetermined length of time or the predetermined number of rounds, retrieve, by the at least one processor, a plurality of secondary games that share at least one gameplay characteristic with the first online game,

rank, via the at least one processor, the plurality of secondary games, based at least on a count of a number of times that each of the plurality of secondary games has returned at least a preset multiple of a bet amount,

display, via the display, the ranked plurality of secondary games, and

receive, via a communication unit, a request by the player to execute of one of the plurality of secondary games, and responsive to the request, transmit game play data via the communication unit to an electronic device of the player to cause the one of the plurality of secondary games to be playable on the electronic device of the player.

10. The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the ranked plurality of secondary games is categorized into a plurality of lists based on one of:

a type of game for each of the plurality of secondary games; and

a characteristic of players currently playing each of the plurality of secondary games.

11. The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the ranked plurality of secondary games is displayed as a list of recommendations on the display, and wherein the list includes at least a subset of the plurality of secondary games.

12. The electronic device of claim 11 , wherein the instructions are further executable by the at least one processor to:

rank-order the list of recommendations further based at least in part on play of the games in the list during a most recent 24-hour period.

13. The electronic device of claim 11 , wherein the instructions are further executable by the at least one processor to:

rank-order the list of recommendations further based at least in part on a number of times the games in the list are currently in play.

14. The electronic device of claim 11 , wherein the instructions are further executable by the at least one processor to:

rank-order of the list of recommendations further based at least in part on a number of players who are currently playing the games in the list.

15. The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the instructions are further executable by the at least one processor to:

store, in the memory, gameplay data of a second game played by another player;

determine, by the at least one processor, whether the second game is previously played by the another player for at least the predetermined length of time or the predetermined number of rounds; and

based on the determination, display, via the display, a notification suggesting the second game to the player.

16. The electronic device of claim 15 , further comprising:

determine whether a threshold quantity of winnings is historically awarded to the another player by the second game,

wherein the notification is displayed when the threshold quantity of winnings is historically awarded, in addition to determining that the second game is previously played for the at least the predetermined length of time or the predetermined number of rounds.

17. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions thereon, the instructions executable by at least one processor to cause an electronic device to:

store, in memory of a computing device, gameplay data of a first online game played by a player,

determine, by the at least one processor, based on the gameplay data, whether the first online game was played for at least a predetermined length of time or a predetermined number of rounds;

based on detecting that the first online game is played for at least the predetermined length of time or the predetermined number of rounds, retrieve, by the at least one processor, a plurality of secondary games that share at least one gameplay characteristic with the first online game;

rank, via the at least one processor, the plurality of secondary games, based at least on a count of a number of times that each of the plurality of secondary games has returned at least a preset multiple of a bet amount;

display, via a display, the ranked plurality of secondary games; and

receive, via a communication unit, a request by the player to execute of one of the plurality of secondary games, and responsive to the request, transmit game play data via the communication unit to an electronic device of the player to cause the one of the plurality of secondary games to be playable on the electronic device of the player.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the ranked plurality of secondary games is categorized into a plurality of lists based on one of:

a type of game for each of the plurality of secondary games; and

a characteristic of players currently playing each of the plurality of secondary games.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , herein the ranked plurality of secondary games is displayed as a list of recommendations on the display, and wherein the list includes at least a subset of the plurality of secondary games.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the instructions are further executable by the at least one processor to:

rank-order the list of recommendations further based on at least one of:

play of the games in the list during a most recent 24-hour period,

a number of times the games in the list are currently in play, and

a number of players who are currently playing the games in the list.
