Abstract

An apparatus includes a network interface and a processing unit. The network interface receives a device registration request identifying an identity of a client device, an Internet address of the client device, and a physical location of the client device. The processing unit determines an identity of at least one sensor of the client device, at least in part based on the identity of the client device. The network interface transmits, to an Internet address of a server, the identity of the client device, the physical location of the client device, and the identity of the at least one sensor of the client device. The network interface receives data from the at least one sensor of the client device.

Claims (62)

1. A method, comprising:

receiving a device registration request identifying an identity of a client device, an Internet address of the client device, and a physical location of the client device;

determining an identity of at least one sensor of the client device, at least in part based on the identity of the client device;

transmitting, to an Internet address of a server, a registration, the registration including the physical location of the client device and the identity of the at least one sensor of the client device;

receiving a location request;

determining a location of the client device, at least in part based on a time of an event;

identifying the client device, at least in part based on a geofence and the time of the event;

transmitting a location response indicating the location of the client device;

transmitting a request for data to the Internet address of the client device, the request identifying the at least one sensor; and

receiving the data from the client device.

2. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

determining the Internet address of the server, at least in part based on the device registration request.

3. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving an encryption request including a client session key;

encrypting the data with the client session key to produce encrypted data; and

transmitting the encrypted data to the Internet address of the server.

4. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, from the Internet address of the server, a recording request for the data, wherein the request is transmitted, at least in part based on the recording request.

5. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:

transmitting, to the Internet address of the client device, the Internet address of the server and a key.

6. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the registration includes the identity of the client device.

7. An apparatus, comprising:

a network interface that receives a device registration request identifying an identity of a client device, an Internet address of the client device, and a physical location of the client device; and

a processing unit configured to determine an identity of at least one sensor of the client device, at least in part based on the identity of the client device,

wherein the network interface transmits, to an Internet address of a server, a registration, the registration including the physical location of the client device and the identity of the at least one sensor of the client device,

the network interface receives a location request,

the processing unit further is configured to determine a location of the client device, at least in part based on a time of an event,

the processing unit further is configured to identify the client device, at least in part based on a geofence and the time of the event,

the network interface transmits a location response indicating the location of the client device,

the network interface transmits a request for data to the Internet address of the client device, the request identifying the at least one sensor, and

the network interface receives the data from the client device.

8. The apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the processing unit further is configured to determine the Internet address of the server, at least in part based on the device registration request.

The apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the network interface receives an encryption request including a client session key, the processing unit further is configured to encrypt the data with the client session key to produce encrypted data, and the network interface transmits the encrypted data to the Internet address of the server.

10. The apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the network interface receives, from the Internet address of the server, a recording request for the data, and transmits the request, at least in part based on the recording request.

11. The apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the network interface transmits, to the Internet address of the client device, the Internet address of the server and a key.

The apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the network interface receives an encryption request including a client session key, and the processing unit further is configured to decrypt the data with a decryption key to produce intermediate data and to encrypt the intermediate data with the client session key to produce encrypted data.

13. The apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the registration includes an identification of the apparatus.

14. A non-transitory, computer-readable medium including instructions that, when executed by a processing unit, perform operations comprising:

receiving a device registration request identifying an identity of a client device, an Internet address of the client device, and a physical location of the client device;

determining an identity of at least one sensor of the client device, at least in part based on the identity of the client device;

transmitting, to an Internet address of a server, a registration, the registration including the physical location of the client device and the identity of the at least one sensor of the client device;

receiving a location request;

determining a location of the client device, at least in part based on a time of an event;

identifying the client device, at least in part based on a geofence and the time of the event;

transmitting a location response indicating the location of the client device;

transmitting a request for data to the Internet address of the client device, the request identifying the at least one sensor; and

receiving the data from the client device.

15. The medium according to claim 14 , the operations further comprising:

determining the Internet address of the server, at least in part based on the device registration request.

16. The medium according to claim 14 , the operations further comprising:

receiving an encryption request including a client session key;

encrypting the data with the client session key to produce encrypted data; and

transmitting the encrypted data to the Internet address of the server.

17. The medium according to claim 14 , the operations further comprising:

receiving, from the Internet address of the server, a recording request for the data, wherein the request is transmitted, at least in part based on the recording request.

18. The medium according to claim 14 , the operations further comprising:

transmitting, to the Internet address of the client device, the Internet address of the server and a key.

19. The medium according to claim 14 , the operations further comprising:

receiving an encryption request including a client session key;

decrypting the data with a decryption key to produce intermediate data; and

encrypting the intermediate data with the client session key to produce encrypted data.

20. The medium according to claim 17 , wherein the recording request identifies the at least one sensor.
