Abstract

A method for a user equipment (UE) to receive physical downlink control channels (PDCCHs) with a first sub-carrier spacing (SCS) includes receiving a bitmap indicating symbols of a slot that are first symbols of control resource sets (CORESETs) for PDCCH receptions, determining, based on the bitmap, a first number of symbols that is a smallest number of symbols in between a first symbol of PDCCH receptions in first CORESETs and a first symbol of PDCCH receptions in second CORESETs, determining, based on the first number of symbols and the SCS, a first maximum number of non-overlapping control channel elements (CCEs), and receiving the PDCCHs with the first SCS according to the first maximum number of non-overlapping CCEs.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the predetermined number corresponds to a number of sizes for DCI formats with a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) scrambled by a cell radio network temporary identifier (C-RNTI) for the UE.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the size of the DCI format 0_2 is smaller than the size of the DCI format 0_1.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the size of the DCI format 1_2 is smaller than the size of the DCI format 1_1.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the predetermined number is 3.

transmitting:

information for a first search space set for PDCCH transmissions that provide the DCI format 0_1 or the DCI format 1_1, and

information for a second search space set for PDCCH transmissions that provide the DCI format 0_2 or the DCI format 1_2, wherein the first search space set is different from the second search space set.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

transmitting:

information for first and second groups of search space sets, and

PDCCHs according to the first group of search space sets;

receiving a scheduling request; and

pad first one or more bits to a number of information bits of the first DCI format until a size of the first DCI format is same as a size of the second DCI format;

determine:

a second total number of DCI format sizes is larger than the predetermined number, after padding the first one or more bits, and

a smaller third DCI format and a larger fourth DCI format between a DCI format 0_1 and a DCI format 1_1; and

pad second one or more bits to a number of information bits of the third DCI format until a size of the third DCI format is same as a size of the fourth DCI format, wherein:

the DCI format 0_1 or the DCI format 0_2 schedules a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) reception, and

the DCI format 1_1 or the DCI format 1_2 schedules a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission; and

a transceiver operably coupled to the processor, the transceiver configured to transmit, to a user equipment (UE), a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) that provides one of the DCI format 0_2, the DCI format 1_2, the DCI format 0_1, or the DCI format 1_1.
