Abstract

Methods and apparatus are provided for a UE to determine a cell global identity (CGI) of a target cell.

Claims (27)

1. A method for a user equipment (UE) to identify a cell global identity (CGI) of a target cell that transmits synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) according to an SSB periodicity of the target cell, comprising:

determining that an SSB Measurement Timing Configuration (SMTC) periodicity for measuring the SSBs of the target cell has been configured to the UE by a serving cell;

decoding a master information block (MIB) of the target cell from an SSB of the target cell that is measured based on the SMTC periodicity, wherein the MIB includes multiplexing pattern information for the target cell;

based on the multiplexing pattern information, identifying whether an SSB and control resource set (CORESET) multiplexing pattern used by the target cell is a pattern 1, a pattern 2 or a pattern 3; and

based on identifying that the SSB and CORESET multiplexing pattern used by the target cell is the pattern 2 or the pattern 3, identifying the CGI of the target cell from a system information block type 1 (SIB11) of the target cell by reading the SIB1 based on the SMTC periodicity of the target cell.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the multiplexing pattern information is included in a pdcch-ConfigSIB1 parameter of the MIB.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising interrupting a connection with the serving cell per the SMTC periodicity.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the interruption is associated with downlink channels from the serving cell to the UE and uplink channels from the UE to the serving cell.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising, based on identifying that the SSB and CORESET multiplexing pattern used by the target cell is the pattern 1, reading the SIB1 based on a 20 millisecond repetition transmission period.

6. A method for a user equipment (UE) to identify a cell global identity (CGI) of a target cell that transmits synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) according to an SSB periodicity of the target cell, comprising:

determining that an SSB Measurement Timing Configuration (SMTC) periodicity for measuring the SSBs of the target cell has been configured to the UE by a serving cell;

decoding a master information block (MIB) of the target cell from an SSB of the target cell that is measured based on the SMTC periodicity, wherein the MIB includes multiplexing pattern information for the target cell, and a MIB repetition periodicity;

based on the multiplexing pattern information, identifying whether an SSB and control resource set (CORESET) multiplexing pattern used by the target cell is a pattern 1, a pattern 2 or a pattern 3; and

based on identifying that the SSB and CORESET multiplexing pattern used by the target cell is the pattern 2 or the pattern 3, identifying the CGI of the target cell from a system information block type 1 (SIB1) of the target cell by reading the SIB1 according to the MIB repetition periodicity acquired from the MIB.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the multiplexing pattern information is included in a pdcch-ConfigSIB1 parameter of the MIB.

8. The method of claim 6 , wherein decoding the MIB is performed using the SMTC periodicity to perform physical broadcast channel (PBCH) decoding.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein decoding the MIB is performed using an occasion of the SSB when the SSB occasion is identified as being more often outside the SMTC periodicity than within the SMTC periodicity.

10. The method of claim 6 , further comprising, based on identifying that the SSB and CORESET multiplexing pattern used by the target cell is the pattern 1, reading the SIB1 based on a 20 millisecond repetition transmission period.

11. A method for a user equipment (UE) to identify a cell global identity (CGI) of a target cell that transmits synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) according to an SSB periodicity of the target cell, comprising:

determining that the UE is not configured with an SSB Measurement Timing Configuration (SMTC) periodicity for measuring the SSBs of the target cell;

decoding a master information block (MIB) of the target cell from an SSB of the target cell that is measured according to a preconfigured periodicity, wherein the MIB includes multiplexing pattern information for the target cell;

based on the multiplexing pattern information, identifying whether an SSB and control resource set (CORESET) multiplexing pattern used by the target cell is a pattern 1, a pattern 2 or a pattern 3; and

based on identifying that the SSB and CORESET multiplexing pattern used by the target cell is the pattern 2 or the pattern 3 and on the determining that that the UE is not configured with the SMTC periodicity for measuring the SSBs of the target cell, identifying the CGI of the target cell from a system information block type 1 (SIB1) of the target cell by reading the SIB1 according to a 20 millisecond repetition transmission period.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the multiplexing pattern information is included in a pdcch-ConfigSIB1 parameter of the MIB.

13. The method of claim 11 , wherein decoding the MIB is performed using a 5 millisecond periodicity.

14. The method of claim 11 , wherein decoding the MIB is performed using a 20 millisecond periodicity.

15. The method of claim 11 , further comprising, based on identifying that the SSB and CORESET multiplexing pattern used by the target cell is the pattern 1, reading the SIB1 based on a 20 millisecond repetition transmission period.
