Abstract

A fire retardant delivery system for use with a source of carrier for protection from wildfire is provided. The system includes a retardant tank for storing a fire retardant. The retardant tank is in fluid communication with the source of carrier. A metering valve is constructed and arranged to meter a flow of fire retardant injected into the carrier discharged from the source of carrier to maintain a predetermined proportion of fire retardant to carrier, thereby creating a fire retardant and carrier mixture. At least one distribution nozzle is configured to deliver the fire retardant and carrier mixture to a desired area.

Claims (46)

1 - 30 . (canceled)

31 . A method of protecting a structure from a wildfire, using a reconfigurable control system in control communication with a wildfire suppression system configured to protect the structure and an area associated with the structure from the wildfire, the method comprising:

a. a reconfigurable control system comprising:

i. a processor;

ii. an algorithm;

iii. a input for receiving input communications;

iv. a output for transmitting output communications;

b. the reconfigurable control system receiving an input communication, wherein the input communication comprises a wildfire information;

c. the reconfigurable control system, based at least in part upon the input communication, defining a risk; and, thereby providing a defined risk;

d. the reconfigurable control system, associating the defined risk with a structure; and,

e. the reconfigurable control system, based at least in part upon one or more of the input communication, the defined risk and the structure; transmits an output communication to a device for receiving and transmitting information; and,

f. wherein the output communication causes a display on the device for receiving and transmitting information.

32 . The method of claim 31 , comprising one or more feedback loops.

33 . The method of claim 31 , wherein the display is a menu.

34 . The method of claim 31 , wherein display is configured to receive an instruction and transmit the instruction to the reconfigurable control system.

35 . The method of claim 31 , wherein the display is configured to receive an instruction and transmit the instruction to the reconfigurable control system; and wherein the instruction is to activate a wildfire suppression system.

36 . The method of claim 35 , whereby the wildfire suppression system is activated.

37 . The method of any claim 31 , wherein the device for receiving and transmitting information is at a location remote from a wildfire suppression system.

38 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the device for receiving and transmitting information is at a location remote from a wildfire suppression system.

39 . The method of claim 35 , wherein the device for receiving and transmitting information is at a location remote from the wildfire suppression system.

40 . The method of claim 36 , wherein the device for receiving and transmitting information is at a location remote from the wildfire suppression system.

41 . The method of claim 31 , further comprising the reconfigurable control system associating the defined risk with an area; and, wherein the structure is located within the area.

42 . The method of claim 31 , further comprising the reconfigurable control system associating the defined risk with an area; and, wherein the structure is at a location remote from the area.

43 . The method of claim 31 , wherein the wildfire information comprises one or more of a smoke detection, an ember detection, a flame detection, and a humidity measurement.

44 . The method of claim 35 , wherein the wildfire information comprises one or more of a smoke detection, an ember detection, a flame detection, and a humidity measurement.

45 . A method of protecting a structure from a wildfire, using a reconfigurable control system in control communication with a wildfire suppression system configured to protect the structure and an area associated with the structure from the wildfire, the method comprising:

a. a reconfigurable control system comprising:

i. a processor;

ii. an algorithm;

iii. an input for receiving input communications;

iv. an output for transmitting output communications;

b. the reconfigurable control system receiving an input communication, wherein the input communication comprises a wildfire information;

c. the reconfigurable control system, based at least in part upon the input communication, defining a risk for an area; and, thereby providing a defined risk area;

d. the reconfigurable control system, based at least in part upon the input communication and the defined risk area, determines an action trigger;

e. upon the occurrence of the action trigger, the reconfigurable control system transmits an output communication to a device for receiving information; and,

f. wherein the output communication causes a display on the device for receiving information.

46 . The method of claim 45 , wherein upon the occurrence of the action trigger the reconfigurable control system activates a wildfire suppression system, associated with a structure, associated with the defined risk area.

47 . The method of claim 45 , wherein the wildfire information comprises one or more of a smoke detection, an ember detection, a flame detection, and a humidity measurement.

48 . The method of claim 46 , wherein the wildfire information comprises one or more of a smoke detection, an ember detection, a flame detection, and a humidity measurement.

49 . The method of claim 45 46 or 47 , comprising one or more feedback loops.

50 . The method of claim 45 , 46 or 47 , wherein the display is a menu.

51 . The method of claim 45 , wherein the device for receiving information is at a location remote from a wildfire suppression system.

52 . The method of claim 46 , wherein the device for receiving information is at a location remote from the wildfire suppression system.

53 . The method of claim 47 , wherein the device for receiving and transmitting information is at a location remote from a wildfire suppression system.

54 . The method of claim 46 , wherein a structure is located within the area.

55 . The method of claim 46 , wherein a structure is at a location remote from the area.
