Abstract

In a method for stimulation and treatment, a biological structure is stimulated by a high power time-varying magnetic field. The stimulation is followed by at least a partial muscle contraction. The methods can be used e.g. in physiotherapy, urology or urogynaecology.

Claims (64)

5 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the first applicator is placed within a predefined location of the belt.

6 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the first applicator further comprises a closed-loop opening, and wherein the belt is configured to be inserted into the closed-loop opening.

7 . A device for treating a patient, the device comprising:

an energy storage device;

a first applicator comprising:

a first magnetic field generating coil, wherein the first magnetic field generating coil is circular and flat; and

a second applicator comprising a second magnetic field generating coil;

a blower configured to provide a flow of air proximate to the first magnetic field generating coil;

a first switching device configured to control energy transfer from the energy storage device to the first magnetic field generating coil such that the first magnetic field generating coil generates a first time-varying magnetic field having a magnetic flux density in a range of 0.1 Tesla to 7 Tesla;

a second switching device configured to control energy transfer from the energy storage device to the second magnetic field generating coil such that the second magnetic field generating coil generates a second time-varying magnetic field having a magnetic flux density in a range of 0.1 Tesla to 7 Tesla,

wherein the first applicator and the second applicator are configured to be positioned on a body part,

wherein the body part comprises at least one of an abdomen or buttocks;

wherein the first applicator and the second applicator are configured to be maintained in contact with the patient by a belt;

wherein the first switching device and the second switching device are configured to be synchronized to apply the first time-varying magnetic field and the second time-varying magnetic field during a treatment.

8 . The device of claim 7 , wherein the first magnetic field generating coil and the second magnetic field generating coil are flat and circular.

13 . The device of claim 7 , wherein the first applicator further comprises:

an outlet;

an upper side; and

a lower side positioned closer to the patient than the upper side, and

wherein the first magnetic field generating coil is positioned between the outlet and the lower side.

14 . A device for treating a patient's body, the device comprising:

an energy source;

an energy storage device configured to be charged by the energy source;

a first magnetic field generating coil comprising an insulated wire,

wherein the first magnetic field generating coil is circular and flat, and

wherein the first magnetic field generating coil is configured to be positioned proximate to the patient's body;

a blower configured to provide a flow of air proximate to the first magnetic field generating coil;

a second magnetic field generating coil configured to be positioned proximate to the patient's body;

a first switching device configured to control energy transfer from the energy storage device to the first magnetic field generating coil such that the first magnetic field generating coil generates a plurality of impulses of a first time-varying magnetic field;

wherein the plurality of impulses establishes a plurality of pulses of the first time-varying magnetic field,

wherein a pulse of the plurality of pulses lasts a first time period between a beginning of a first impulse of the first time-varying magnetic field and a beginning of a consecutive impulse of the first time-varying magnetic field, and

wherein the second magnetic field generating coil is configured to generate an impulse of a second time-varying magnetic field, wherein the impulse of the second time-varying magnetic field is generated during a pulse of the first time-varying magnetic field; and
