Abstract

A headset comprises an ear cup, at least one speaker, an adjustable ear cup shaper, and circuitry. The ear cup shaper is adjustable into at least two configurations, wherein a first of the configurations creates no depression or a first amount of depression in the ear cup and a second of the configurations creates a second amount of depression in the ear cup, where the second amount is greater than the first amount. The circuitry is operable to determine which one of the configurations the ear cup shaper is configured into, and set an audio setting applied to an audio signal output to the speaker based on the determined one of the configurations.

Claims (28)

1. A headset comprising:

two ear cups, wherein each ear cup comprises a foam ring having a channel, and wherein the channel of each foam ring is a hollow area that extends between a perimeter of the foam ring and a center space defined by the foam ring; and

circuitry operable to determine, according to acoustic waves captured by one or more microphones, a configuration of the headset, wherein the configuration of the headset determines whether the channel of each foam ring receives foam.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the headset comprises a processing unit.

3. The headset of claim 1 , wherein the circuitry comprises a processing unit.

4. The headset of claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is operable to apply a bass boost to the audio signal.

5. The headset of claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is operable to apply a gain to the audio signal.

6. The headset of claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is operable to determine whether eyewear is worn by the user of the headset.

7. The headset of claim 4 , wherein the circuitry is operable to adjust an audio signal received by the headset according to the configuration of the headset determined by the circuitry.

8. The headset of claim 1 , wherein the headset comprises one or more microphones configured to capture acoustic waves inside the center space defined by the foam ring.

9. The headset of claim 1 , wherein the configuration of the headset is based on amount of depression in at least one ear cup.

10. The headset of claim 1 , wherein the headset comprises memory operable to store a plurality of adjustments for application to the audio signal.

11. The headset of claim 10 , wherein the memory is FLASH memory.

12. The headset of claim 1 , wherein an adjustment of an audio signal is user controlled.

13. The headset of claim 1 , wherein an audio signal is received wirelessly.

14. The headset of claim 1 , wherein each foam ring is covered by a liner.

15. A system comprising:

a headset comprising two ear cups, wherein each ear cup comprises a foam ring having a channel, and wherein the channel of each foam ring is a hollow area that extends between a perimeter of the foam ring and a center space defined the foam ring; and

non-transitory machine readable storage having code stored thereon, wherein when code is executed by a computing device, the computing device is configured to determine, according to acoustic waves captured by one or more microphones, a configuration of the headset, wherein the configuration of the headset determines whether the channel of each foam ring receives foam.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the headset comprises memory operable to store a plurality of adjustments for application to the audio signal.

17. The system of claim 16 , wherein the memory is FLASH memory.

18. The system of claim 15 , wherein an adjustment of the audio signal is user controlled.

19. The system of claim 15 , wherein the computing device is operable to apply a bass boost to the audio signal.

20. The system of claim 15 , wherein the computing device is operable to apply a gain to the audio signal.

21. The system of claim 15 , wherein the computing device is operable to determine whether eyewear is worn by the user of the headset.

22. The system of claim 15 , wherein the computing device is operable to adjust an audio signal received by the headset according to the configuration of the headset determined by the computing device.

23. The system of claim 15 , wherein the headset comprises one or more microphones configured to capture acoustic waves inside the center space defined by the foam ring.

24. The system of claim 15 , wherein the configuration of the headset is based on amount of depression in at least one ear cup.
