Abstract

An image forming apparatus, having a cartridge detachably attached to the image forming apparatus and including a first compartment configured to store a colorant, a container configured to be connected with the cartridge and including a second compartment configured to store the colorant flowing from the cartridge, and a display configured to display a first object indicating a first remainder amount and a second object indicating a second remainder amount in a single screen, is provided. The first remainder amount is a remainder amount of the colorant stored in the first compartment, and the second remainder amount is a remainder amount of the colorant stored in the second compartment.

Claims (62)

a first display; and

a first controller;

wherein the image forming apparatus comprises:

a second display;

a first cartridge configured to store first ink, the first ink having a first color;

a second cartridge configured to store second ink, the second ink having a second color which is different from the first color;

a first tank configured to receive the first ink from the first cartridge and to store the first ink therein;

a second tank configured to receive the second ink from the second cartridge and to store the second ink therein;

a head mounted on a carriage and configured to receive both the first ink from the first tank and the second ink from the second tank to discharge both the first ink and the second ink;

a second controller, the second controller being configured to generate data including information concerning an amount of the first ink in the first cartridge and information concerning an amount of the second ink in the second cartridge for composing a first screen, the first screen including a first rectangle including a first sign indicating the amount of the first ink in the first cartridge and a second rectangle including a second sign indicating the amount of the second ink in the second cartridge,

wherein the first rectangle has a first side extending along an up-down direction and a second side extending along a cross direction intersecting with the up-down direction,

wherein the first rectangle is arranged below the second rectangle on the first screen,

wherein the second side is longer than the first side, and

wherein the second controller is configured to transmit the data to the first controller,

wherein the first controller is configured to cause the first display to display the first screen based on the data transmitted from the second controller,

wherein the first controller is configured to cause the first display to display a particular screen, or the second controller is configured to cause the second display to display the particular screen,

wherein the particular screen includes a first object,

wherein the first object represents a plurality of cartridges for storing ink,

wherein the first controller is configured to cause the first display to display the first screen, the first screen including a first mark and a second mark thereon,

wherein the first mark is displayed when the first ink in the first cartridge has been exhausted,

wherein the second mark is displayed when the first ink in both the first cartridge and the first tank has been exhausted,

wherein the first mark has a first shape and the second mark has a second shape,

wherein the first shape is different from the second shape,

wherein the first object is different from both the first shape and the second shape and is displayed in the particular screen without indicating whether the first ink in the first cartridge has been exhausted or not,

wherein the first object is different from both the first shape and the second shape and is displayed in the particular screen without displaying the first shape and the second shape,

wherein both the first shape and the second shape do not represent ink in or out of a plurality of cartridges,

wherein the first object is not displayed in the first screen displaying the first shape or the second shape, and

wherein the first screen and the particular screen are not displayed at the same time.

2. The printing system according to claim 1 ,

wherein the first controller is configured to cause the first display to display a second screen, the second screen including a third rectangle indicating the amount of the first ink in the first cartridge, a fourth rectangle indicating the amount of the second ink in the second cartridge, a fifth rectangle indicating an amount of the first ink in the first tank, and a sixth rectangle indicating an amount of the second ink in the second tank without displaying both an image of the head and an amount of the first ink in the head,

wherein the third rectangle has a third side extending along the up-down direction and a fourth side extending along the cross direction,

wherein the third rectangle is laterally adjacent to the fourth rectangle in the cross direction and arranged above the fifth rectangle in the up-down direction on the second screen, and

wherein the second side is longer than the fourth side.

3. The printing system according to claim 2 , wherein the fourth rectangle is laterally adjacent to the third rectangle in the cross direction and arranged above the sixth rectangle in the up-down direction on the second screen.

4. The printing system according to claim 3 , wherein an area of the third rectangle is larger than an area of the fourth rectangle.

5. The printing system according to claim 4 , wherein an area of the fifth rectangle is larger than an area of the sixth rectangle.

6. The printing system according to claim 3 , wherein the fifth rectangle is laterally adjacent to the sixth rectangle in the cross direction and arranged below the third rectangle in the up-down direction on the second screen.

7. The printing system according to claim 6 , wherein the sixth rectangle is laterally adjacent to the fifth rectangle in the cross direction and arranged below the fourth rectangle in the up-down direction on the second screen.

8. The printing system according to claim 1 ,

wherein the particular screen includes a second object, and

wherein the first object is laterally adjacent to the second object in the cross direction on the particular screen.

9. The printing system according to claim 8 ,

wherein the particular screen includes a third object,

wherein the third object is larger than the first object,

wherein the third object is larger than the second object, and

wherein the first object and the second object are arranged below the third object in the up-down direction on the particular screen.

10. The printing system according to claim 9 , wherein the first object and the second object are arranged at a bottom of the particular screen.
