Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of transmitting a data unit using a Random Access (RA) procedure by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system. Especially, the method includes the steps of configuring a first RA preamble group and a second RA preamble group, wherein RA preambles belonging to the first RA preamble group indicates that a RA Response (RAR) is not required and RA preambles belonging to the second RA preamble group indicates that the RAR is required; selecting one of the first preamble group and the second RA preamble group based on whether a response of the transmitted data unit from a network is required or not; and transmitting one of the RA preambles belonging to the selected RA preamble group with the data unit to the network.

Claims (23)

1. A method for performing operations by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

configuring a first Random Access (RA) preamble and a second RA preamble, wherein the first RA preamble indicate that a RA Response (RAR) is not required and the second RA preamble indicate that the RAR is required; and

transmitting one of the first and second RA preambles to the network,

wherein, based on the transmitted RA preamble being the first RA preamble, a random access procedure is considered as being completed without monitoring the RAR.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein, based on the transmitted RA preamble being the second RA preamble, the RAR related to the second RA preamble is monitored.

3. A user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the UE comprising:

at least one transceiver;

at least one processor; and

at least one computer memory operably connectable to the at least one processor and storing instructions that, when executed, cause the at least one processor to perform operations comprising:

configuring a first random access (RA) preamble and a second RA preamble, wherein the first RA preamble indicates that a RA Response (RAR) is not required and the second RA preamble indicates that the RAR is required; and

transmitting one of the first and second RA preambles to the network,

wherein, based on the transmitted RA preamble being the first RA preamble, a random access procedure is considered as being completed without monitoring the RAR.

4. The UE of claim 3 , wherein based on the transmitted RA preamble belonging to the second RA preamble, the RAR related to the second RA preamble is monitored.

5. An apparatus for a user equipment (UE), the apparatus comprising:

at least one processor; and

at least one computer memory operably connectable to the at least one processor and storing instructions that, when executed, cause the at least one processor to perform operations comprising:

configuring a first random access (RA) preamble and a second RA preamble, wherein the first RA preamble indicates that a RA Response (RAR) is not required and the second RA preamble indicates that the RAR is required; and

transmitting one of the first and second RA preambles to the network,

wherein, based on the transmitted RA preamble being the first RA preamble, a random access procedure is considered as being completed without monitoring the RAR.

6. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing at least one computer program comprising instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform operations for a user equipment (UE), the operations comprising:

configuring a first random access (RA) preamble and a second RA preamble, wherein the first RA preamble indicates that a RA Response (RAR) is not required and the second RA preamble indicates that the RAR is required; and

transmitting one of the first and second RA to the network,

wherein, based on the transmitted RA preamble being the first RA preamble, a random access procedure is considered as being completed without monitoring the RAR.
