Abstract

There is provided an adjustable screed assembly suitable for mounting to a frame of a paver, the screed assembly comprising a mounting member, the mounting member having a first end and a second end, the mounting member including at least one elongate aperture passing through the mounting member and extending along the mounting member in a direction from the first end to the second end, the mounting member being pivotally connected to the frame at or proximate to the first end and being slidingly connected to a screed arm through the at least one elongate aperture, wherein the screed plate is moveable relative to the mounting member along the direction from the first end to the second end.

Claims (30)

1 . An adjustable screed assembly suitable for mounting to a frame of a paver, the screed assembly comprising;

a mounting member, the mounting member having a first end and a second end, the mounting member including at least one elongate aperture passing through the mounting member and extending along the mounting member in a direction from the first end to the second end, the mounting member configured to be pivotally connected to the frame at or proximate to the first end and being slidingly connected to a screed arm through the at least one elongate aperture, wherein the screed arm is moveable relative to the mounting member along the direction from the first end to the second end.

2 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the mounting member includes a first face and a second face, the first face configured to face the frame and the second face arranged to face the screed arm.

The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 2 , wherein the first face includes a first cylinder mount, and/or wherein the first end includes a pivot shaft arranged be received by a pair of pivot receivers configured to on the frame, such that the mounting member is configured to be pivotally connected to the frame.

4 . A paver including the adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 1 .

The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 3 , wherein a first hydraulic cylinder is configured to be connected between a frame mount provided to the frame and the first cylinder mount, wherein the first hydraulic cylinder is configured to pivot the mounting member with respect to the frame.

6 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 2 , wherein the at least one elongate aperture includes a first elongate aperture, a second elongate aperture and a third elongate aperture.

7 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 6 , wherein the screed arm includes a hinge assembly arranged to abut the second face.

8 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 7 , wherein the hinge assembly includes a screed arm mounting plate, wherein said screed arm mounting plate includes a screed mount.

9 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 8 , wherein the screed arm mounting plate connects to a first backing plate and a second backing plate, the first backing plate and the second backing plate being arranged to abut the first face.

The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 9 , wherein the screed arm mounting plate is connected to the first backing plate by at least one fixing means passing through the first elongate aperture and the screed arm mounting plate is connected to the second backing plate by another at least one fixing means passing through the third elongate aperture.

11 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 10 , wherein the screed mount is arranged to pass through the second elongate aperture.

12 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 11 , wherein the second end of the first face of the mounting member includes a second cylinder mount.

13 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 12 , wherein a second hydraulic cylinder is connected between the second cylinder mount and the screed mount to enable the screed arm to be slidingly adjusted with respect to the mounting member.

14 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 8 , wherein the hinge assembly includes a hinge portion arranged to pivotally connect the screed arm mounting plate to the screed arm.

15 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 14 , wherein an elongate member of an adjustable length is arranged to connect between the screed arm mounting plate and the screed arm.

16 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 15 , wherein the adjustable length of the elongate member is adjusted so that the screed arm is pivotable with respect to the screed arm mounting plate.

17 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the screed arm includes a first portion and a second portion, the second portion being extendable and retractable relative to the first portion.

18 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 17 , wherein the first portion includes at least one guide rail that is arranged extend at least partially along a length of the screed arm.

19 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 18 , wherein the second portion is arranged to slidingly travel along the at least one guide rail.

20 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 19 , wherein a third hydraulic cylinder is arranged to connect between the first portion and the second portion, such that the second portion is extendable and retractable relative to the first portion.

21 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 17 , wherein the second portion is in connection with an end portion.

22 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 21 , wherein the end portion includes a hinge plate that is pivotally connected to the second portion.

23 . The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 22 , wherein the hinge plate includes a limiter in connection with the end portion.

The adjustable screed assembly in accordance with claim 17 , wherein the mounting member includes a first face and a second face, the first face configured to face the frame and the second face arranged to face the screed arm, wherein the at least one elongate aperture includes a first elongate aperture, a second elongate aperture and a third elongate aperture, wherein the screed arm includes a hinge assembly arranged to abut the second face, wherein the hinge assembly includes a hinge portion arranged to pivotally connect a screed arm mounting plate to the screed arm, and wherein the first portion includes at least one stop for abutting with the hinge portion.

25 . An adjustable screed assembly suitable for mounting to a frame of a paver, the screed assembly comprising;

a screed arm mounting plate;

a screed arm pivotably connected to the screed arm mounting plate and configured for use in a paving operation of the paver;

a mounting member, the mounting member having a first end and a second end, the mounting member including at least one elongate aperture passing through the mounting member and extending along the mounting member in a direction from the first end to the second end, the mounting member configured to be pivotally connected to the frame at or proximate to the first end and being slidingly connected to the screed arm mounting plate through the at least one elongate aperture,

wherein the screed arm is moveable relative to the mounting member along the direction from the first end to the second end, by the screed arm mounting plate being slidingly connected to the mounting member through the at least one elongate aperture, such that the screed arm is moveable with the screed arm mounting plate.
